Dear Reader
Although we may still see some nice summer days especially in early September, fall is undeniably approaching rapidly here in Denmark. We're soaking up the last few sunny days, if possible enjoying them even more than earlier in the season. But our thoughts and attention are starting to turn inside once more. After several months of lettings things more or less slide inside the house and spending all of our time outdoors to the extent possible, we now really feel the urge to dive into projects large and small inside. The bedroom is one space that's getting a bit of a touch-up with inspiration from all of the wonderful bedrooms featured in this month's theme. It doesn't have to be a major makeover – simply moving the bed, adding a few new pillows and changing out the curtains can transform the room and create a sense of renewal. It's actually always been that way. Every so often it's time to move things around. When we really had very little money, we did so very
frequently. Another trick is to simply switch rooms: Move the furniture to another room or just some of the things. When placed in a new context, they'll suddenly seem like a breath of fresh air to the decor. We actually had quite the laugh recently when we sat down with some of our kids to watch some home videos from their childhood. In almost every video something had been rearranged. It's amazing how often we moved things around! And still do. For no other reason than the fact that we really enjoy it. Others feel entirely differently. We have family members whose homes are furnished exactly the same as 30 years ago, everything in the exact place as we remember it from our own childhood. These may be the extremes but it's probably a ďŹ tting illustration of how different we all are. And a good thing, too!
Lonnie & Vivian
Who are we, and why the name Jeanne d’Arc Living? The French heroine Jeanne d’Arc was an amazing woman with an unusually strong will and sense of purpose. She didn’t ascribe to the common opinions of her time of what one should or should not do. Instead she went her own way and fought till the very end for her beliefs. In using her name in connection with our company, we do so with the utmost respect for this remarkable woman. We also feel that there’s a lesson to be learned from her – even now, 600 years later. We should all have the courage to go our own ways and dare to stand out from the crowd. From the very beginning these have been some of our main goals for the company. We continuously aim to think outside the box and stand up for what we believe. Today part of the company is a publishing business that publishes our own magazines and books. The common thread in everything we do is the French-Nordic country style. We publish a magazine that keeps to the style, avoiding distracting advertisements within the magazine. This is, of course, a challenge. It requires a substantial amount of editorial material and that we do most of it ourselves in order to make ends meet. The magazine is published in eight languages and sold in many parts of the world. We also run a wholesale business with our own designs produced both here in Denmark and abroad. The company has been around for almost ten years and is jointly owned by Lonnie Würtz Jensen and Vivian Christensen. If you’d like to learn more about us and the company, you can follow our everyday life on our blog. All the best,

A World of Dress Forms
After 23 years in the same house trying out every style imaginable, the decor has finally found its balance. A few years ago, Annet caught a bug – a flea market bug, and it's not one that's easy to shake. Now Annet knows that she's finally found her style. She loves vintage items. Beautiful, old dress forms in particular have won her heart.
5
Slowly but surely Annet has been collecting treasures for her house. From time to time some items have become dispensable and Annet has chosen to sell them online. She even set up a room for showing these spare items to potential buyers, who are thus able to both see and touch these select items. The way Annet sees it, cleaning up like this offers several advantages.
6
7
8
She's able to make contact with lots of other people who share her passion. And as an added bonus, there's a bit of extra money for purchasing new treasures. When Annet buys her things, she always trusts her feelings. If something feels right, she buys it. She's never short on decorating items and probably never will be, considering her passion for the style. She doesn't replace an item until she finds something better.
9
Idea:
Really, you can hang anything on a dress form but Annet has chosen to stay very true to the shape of the various dress forms and thus uses textiles that accentuate the shape of each dress form: beautiful, old corsets, skirts, collars and dresses that really show the wasp waist of the dress forms to the best advantage. The dress forms and beautiful vintage textiles are a perfect match.

Annet really has a soft spot for lace and fabrics – actually any type of old textiles and preferably reminiscent of the style of Marie Antoinette: pretty and luxurious. Another passion that has grown is old umbrellas. They're not easy to find anymore because the fabric so often becomes porous and begins to perish. But Annet is the happy owner of no less than 11 vintage umbrellas. The whole house is filled with treasures. A very special, old rocking horse with real horsehair is greatly prized and likely to never end up in the small home boutique.
13
Annet's daughter shares her passion for beautiful, old items. She helps her mom by putting up pictures of all the lovely things online. Annet dreams of one day making a living from her passion and hobby. She's completely absorbed in the flea market scene and feels that it adds a whole new dimension to life. In this home, seeking out items, decorating and selling all of the beautiful treasures truly has become a lifestyle.

The bedroom offers several tips on how to bring lovely details into your decorating.
Idea:
In the corner is an old ladder with a beautiful scarf draped over one of the steps. The ladder hides the pipes – a quick and easy solution if there's something that you would like to cover up a bit.
Above the head of the bed are two old shutters. They function as a display board for various items. Right now it's a pretty, vintage girl's dress. Annet is a master of finding beautiful, old garments on her flea market trips and uses them often in her decorating. www.cotepierre.bigcartel.com
