nother year! It’s hard to believe we’re celebrating our two year anniversary edition, time really zooms by. I find with situations like birthdays and anniversaries I become very nostalgic. I want to take a few sentences and thank every contributor we’ve ever had. With out our contributors we wouldn’t have all this amazing content and all our contributors put a lot of hard work into producing quality images, words, modelling, designs, makeup, hair, re-touching, everything. Thank-you to all of you, past and present! To our faithful readers and followers, thank-you especially. Thank-you for every page view on our digital/online editions, and thank-you for every print edition picked up off a shelf. Now. This issue we have two covers (as you’ve seen) to celebrate turning 2, and for your viewing pleasure for this issue we’ve added an additional twenty pages of fashion eye candy! It’s so hard to begin to tell you what’s been inspiring me through out the Summer while getting the Fall edition together. I suppose everything in it’s own way. Music, the people around me, especially the people I love. Love is a fantastic source of inspiration because it’s always there. You know, every one now and again I feel we get the opportunity to meet a person or people whom are almost different versions of ourselves. Now, if you’re lucky, you will learn from them and they from you but sometimes too much of “yourself” can become problematic and like two positives, can create something negative. - Christopher Massardo Editor christopher@pressthefashionmagazine.com

A little bit more about some of our talented contributors.
Adamo de Pax The talented eye behind both our anniversary covers and no stranger to the PRESS family. An Ottawa native, de Pax, resides in Toronto photographing high profile fashion campaigns and covers for major publications in Canada and abroad.
Evan Playful and confident Evan is the male model gracing our “men’s cover” for the two year anniversary edition. With that rugged and dapper appeal you can’t help but love this cover boy, but, we’ll let you be the judge.
Vanessa The always regal Vanessa offers us grace and a type of glamour that is often hard to find. Her fluid movements made capturing this cover a breeze.

Irem Harnak The definition of a well versed photographer. Harnak’s work ranges from the slick-ist of editorials to very note worthy campaigns and more. Based in Toronto working internationally we welcome her creativity and look forward to seeing more.
Regen Chen Talented and a true story teller Chen takes readers through his inspirations and showcases it in a way that captures your eye in a surreal fashion. Based in Toronto, we’re excited to see this artist’s work continue to grow.
Leah Harper Ottawa based fashion stylist Leah Harper is new to the styling scene but working her way up quickly! Having worked with Ottawa Fashion Week and several publications in the city already, Harper is one to keep an eye on.

Q&A
with Comr ags
We caught up with fashion designer Joyce Gunhouse of the Canadian brand Comrags to get to know more about the company and the design duo.
When was the company launched? 1983 Why? We had the opportunity to put on a fashion show at the punk club Judy worked at. We decided to collaborate on a few outfits and discovered how well we compliment each other. Who is your target client/demographic? We don’t define our customer but it is probably ourselves and our daughters – urban and independent. Is this what you had always wanted to have for a career? I have wanted to be a designer since I was a little girl. Judy has always been interested in creating. Was it planned or did you fall into it? We fell into our partnership and career. Doors opened and we walked through. The fashion business is a competitive business. How do you feel you stand out amongst so many other brands/designers? We are true to ourselves and have established a look that is all our own. What is it like working as a duo/team? Inspirational, difficult, fun and frustrating. Our roles and relationships are fluid, changing from season to season. Do your ideas ever clash? All the time! However, when the collection hits the runway all conflicts have been resolved. If you had to pick one word that you want a client to associate with your product what would it be? ‘Special’ What is your process for designing or getting inspired for a new collection? We always start with the fabric. Fabrics are chosen that create a mood and texture. What inspires you? We create a fictional conversation inspired by everything we see, read, or overhear. What materials/fabrics do you prefer to work with? Fabrics are always evolving but we love to use new fabrics that have never been seen. What is the best compliment you’ve ever received about your product? Someone once said, “Comrags did Prada before Prada did Prada.” We love to hear compliments that our customers receive when they wear Comrags.
