PASSION WORKS TEAMS WITH RACE FOR A REASON TO RAISE MONEY FOR LOCAL ARTS STUDIO Date: February 17, 2013

This year, Passion Works will be teaming up with O’Bleness Health System Race for a Reason in an effort to raise money for their local art studio. Passion Works is an Athens-based organization that supports collaborations between artists with and without developmental disabilities. Since 1998, the studio has created one-of-a-kind art pieces and has transformed this artwork into items such as jewelry, ornaments, flowers, and greeting cards. The production of this artwork creates employment for people with and without developmental disabilities and generates a renewable funding stream to continue arts programming. Wayne Savage, Passion Works’ Studio Coordinator, has been working with the Race for a Reason team to raise awareness for Passion Works in the local Athens community. In addition to his efforts, Paige Elmlinger, an Ohio University student intern, has taken the lead on Passion Work’s marketing efforts for the race and is working to raise awareness among Ohio University’s student body. Partnering with O’Bleness Health System Race for a Reason for the first time, Passion Works is excited to take part in Athens’ largest charity-based race event. Dedicated to their arts programming, Passion Works is looking to raise money for their organization and more importantly, for the artists that make it all possible. The Passion Works team truly believes that creativity is an innate part of all people and that art enhances the quality of life and strengthens communities.
