The Center for Sports Administration is proud to present Mike Redlick (’96) as the 2013 Charles R. Higgins Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient. Mike is the Senior Vice President, Chief Sales Officer and Chief Marketing Officer for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “I am honored to receive the Charles R. Higgins Distinguished Alumnus Award.” Redlick said, “There are several former recipients that I have gotten to know through the years and truly respect. I am humbled and honored to be in their company.” Redlick echoes his actions with his words when discussing what the program means to him, “It is important to give back because OU gave me so much. I have tried to support our program in several ways, not just financially. I always try to help others in the program as much as I can, whether it is for an internship, a potential job connection or just to share information. That sense of sharing/helping was instilled when I was in the program and I try to maintain it today. Prior to joining IMS in 2011 Mike served as the Vice President of Business Development for the San Francisco 49ers. During his tenure with the 49ers, he developed and sold a multi-year partnership with HP, renewed a multi-year partnership with VISA and closed substantial deals with Rambus, PG&E, Toyota and other companies.

Kristin Ryan is currently a Senior Account Manager at Wasserman Media Group and serves as the lead activation strategist for Verizon’s NFL partnership. Her account team is responsible for the overall strategy and planning of Verizon’s NFL portfolio, as well as the local marketing program execution around Super Bowl. Prior to her role on the Verizon account team, Kristin led Nationwide Insurance’s NASCAR track strategy and marketing program beginning in 2008 when Nationwide signed the Official NASCAR Series Entitlement. Before joining Wasserman, Kristin spent six years with the Carolina Hurricanes Hockey Club from 2002 to 2008, in three different roles from directing the Premium Services division to Ticket Sales, Corporate Sales and Luxury Suite Sales, successfully negotiating agreements that resulted in exceeding revenue goals for the first time in the organization’s history.

After graduating from OU in 1991, Kristin began her career at ISL Marketing, working on account teams such as The Coca Cola Company, Eastman Kodak, IBM, Texaco and USPS managing their worldwide Olympic Games partnerships with the IOC. She played a key role in developing ISL Hospitality, a division of ISL that served clients’ need to leverage marketing assets included in their rights packages, and planned and executed onsite programs at 7 Olympic Games and 3 FIFA World Cup events from 1992 – 2002.

A proud graduate of Indiana University, Kristin enjoyed watching the Hoosier basketball program return to prominence this season. Married to a former college basketball coach, Kristin and her husband Jim claim two teenage Carolina Tarheel / Boston Red Sox fans, Jack(15) and Julia(14), as their greatest accomplishments.

MIKE MILLAY - Director of Sports Development, ESPN

Mike joined the Disney cast in November 1994 as Director of Sports Events where he was responsible for programming, sales, marketing, and event management of sporting events at the Walt Disney World Resort. Mike previously was Executive Director of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, from the inception of the organization (1988) until November 1994, was responsible for attracting and hosting major and minor sporting events for the purpose of economic development and sports tourism. Millay is a charter member and was 1993-94 chairman of the National Association of Sports Commissions, he serves on the boards of the National Council of Youth Sports, the Florida Rush Soccer Club, Soccer Partners of America and is Chairman of the Central Florida Sports Commission. He also earned a master of sports administration at Ohio University (1988) and BS from Louisiana State University. He was all-Southeastern Conference in wrestling and three-time captain of the LSU team.

KRISTIN RYAN - Senior Account Manager at Wasserman Media Group

Mike Millay is Director of Sports Development for Walt Disney World Co, specifically ESPN Wide World of Sports, the 270-acre sports complex which opened in May, 1997. He and his team are responsible for the acquisition of, or development of new sports events for The Walt Disney World Resort. Additionally, his team is responsible for strategic direction for facility development, sponsorship development and overall business related initiatives.

Melissa is currently in her second year as the Director of Marketing Partnerships for the New York Red Bulls. After receiving her MBA/MSA from Ohio University in 2003, Melissa spent three years working as a Sales Manager for both Disney’s Wide World of Sports and Disney Sports attractions. Following her time with Disney, she worked in management with the New York Road Runners for four years and Madison Square Garden for 2 years. Melissa has a BS in Finance and Economics from the University of Maryland.

Homer Dawson

Homer Dawson is currently the Associate Brand Manager, Coors Banquet, where he supports the strategy, planning and positioning responsibilities for the legendary Banquet brand. Homer joined the Banquet Team from the Sports and Entertainment department where he was the functional lead on NHL, basketball, casinos and endurance sports. Prior to joining MillerCoors in January 2011, Homer worked at GMR Marketing. He had several different roles at GMR and spent his last five years supporting MillerCoors’ NASCAR business and the Miller Lite racing team. Homer resides in SE Wisconsin where he lives with his wife Kari, 4 year old daughter, Elliott and 2 year old son, Ike.

Jason Wolfe

David Bamford is currently a Business Planner/Analyst for Nike Inc. He has held this position within Nike since June of 2011. As a Business Planner/Analyst, David is responsible for driving global sales strategy across planning, reporting, and analytics within the Football, Baseball, and Athletic Training category at Nike. Prior to this role David was a Ticket Sales Representative for the Portland Trail Blazers from 20082011. David completed his undergraduate coursework at Ohio University in 2005, and received his MBA/MSA from Ohio University in 2008.

Lauren Hoffmann Monica is currently the Assistant Athletics Director for Development/Major Gifts with the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation. Previously, she worked in development for the University of Cal-Berkeley, where she reached the level of Senior Associate Director for Major Gifts. Prior to Cal, Monica was the Associate Director for Gator Boosters, Inc with the University of Florida. Monica has also worked as a governance intern for the NCAA. She graduated from Yale University in 2001 and received her MBA/MSA from Ohio in 2003.

Entering his sixth season at the New York Jets, Andrew Agro is currently in his third year as Manager of New Business Development within the Jets’ corporate sponsorship team. Currently, Andrew is responsible for the prospecting and sales of corporate sponsorships for the Jets, including renewals and the identification of new & emerging sponsorship categories. For three seasons prior to his sales role at the Jets, Andrew worked as the Coordinator of Corporate Partnerships, fulfilling Jets sponsorships. In 2006, Andrew completed his undergraduate coursework at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and completed the Ohio University MSA/MBA program in 2008.

Katrina, originally from the Boston, MA area, completed internships at Mt. Sunapee Ski Resort in NH and with the New England Patriots before beginning her full time sports career in 2003 at PNC Arena, home of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes. She began in premium services working with the arena’s suite clients on a daily basis, and moved on to do event planning in the catering department in 2007. Currently as the director of catering, she oversees all private, non-suite catering which includes Hurricanes game day catering & special events, NCSU game day catering (a buffet style restaurant & full service bar) backstage catering for concerts, and private meetings/banquets. She has also experienced many events within NHL hockey such as the 2004 Draft, 2006 Stanley Cup Championship, 2011 All Star Game, and two lockouts.

Since graduating from the OU MBA/MSA program in 2003, Jason has been actively involved across the sports industry. Currently, Jason is the President of Wolfe Solution, a sports marketing agency he founded in 2010. Wolfe Solutions focuses on sponsorship marketing, sports business development and portfolio consulting. Over the past three years, the agency team has been fortunate to work within the NBA, NFL, NCAA, MiLB, NASCAR, and with great cause marketing partners. Prior to forming Wolfe Solutions, Jason spent 7 years at GMR Marketing working primarily on business development and consulting for the agency’s sports practice. Before enrolling at OU, Jason attended Centre College receiving an Economics degree. Lastly, an often undervalued experience for Jason was having the privilege of being part of the team that started a College Baseball All-Star Summer Team from scratch... Go Copperheads!

Lauren currently serves as the Partnership Marketing Manager for Richard Childress Racing. Her previous experience includes time with the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), Wasserman Media Group (with the NASCAR Nationwide Series account), and the NBA franchise Memphis Grizzlies. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Elon University and a master degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University in 2008.

Brian Raney Brian is currently an Annual Giving Manager in the Cal Athletics Development office at the University of California, Berkeley. In his role, Brian focuses primarily on sportspecific fundraising efforts for nearly half of Cal’s teams. Raney earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at Cal before attending Ohio University. Prior to returning to his alma mater, he spent over three years as the Assistant Director of Athletic Development at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.Brian received his MBA/MSA from Ohio in 2008.

Casey Romany

For the past two years, Casey has been working in the Strategic Marketing and Business Development group at IMG Consulting, developing new business pitches and working with clients on sponsorship, branding and ambassador strategy. Upon graduating from OU and prior to working for IMG, Casey spent 3 ½ years working with OU alumnus, Russell Sargeant, at Soccer United Marketing in the Partnership Marketing department, managing national sponsorships for Major League Soccer and U.S. Soccer. Before attending Ohio University, Casey worked with OU alumnus, Len Perna, at his company Turnkey Sports & Entertainment. In addition to her MBA/ MSA from OU in 2008, Casey has a BA in Business Administration from The State University of New York at Buffalo. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with her husband Dominic and daughter, Sophie.
