Prettybird recreates Tunisian Revolution in Morocco for Logitech Prettybird has travelled to Morocco to film a spot for electronics brand Logitech. In the piece an observer of the Tunisian Revolution pays tribute to rap artist El General, whose provocative track Head of State became the soundtrack of the 2010 uprising.
Cities across Europe and in the US were considered for the shoot, but Prettybird eventually chose Moroccan capital Rabat. Ali Brown was Executive Producer for Prettybird: “There was nothing else that really gave us the feel of Tunisia in the same way and offered the right look for casting. They headed into Hay Nadah in the south of the city for the single day of filming. Production design included a day spent dressing the street by positioning burned-out cars, hanging banners and putting graffiti on the walls. Local police helped control the crowds.
“The biggest challenge we faced on the shoot was the fact that we were using real people as talent,” Brown added: “When we were filming it attracted even more people to our shoot – people that weren’t specifically hired as extras – which is where things began to get intense as everyone wanted to be paid once they found out we had ‘hired’ people. “Morocco had a great local film crew and support. Ultimately, for the creative, it gave us the most accurate and strongest location.” Credits: Client: Logitech Agency: Dojo Agency Producer: David Verhoef Executive Creative Directors: Geoff Edwards and Mauro Alencar Production Company: Prettybird, California Producer: Mark Hall Executive Producers: Ali Brown and Kerstin Emhoff Production Service Company: Dune Films, Marrakech Director of Photography: Frederik Backar Director: Paul Hunter
