Inflation is at a 40-year high and pricing are rising on everything from food, furniture, cars and gasoline. Everyone is focused on getting a better handle on their money. Practical strategies for saving, spending and investing can help you build an emergency fund, lower your debt and find some peace of mind. Personal financial experts from across the country have some advice on how you can make the current and future years more financially fruitful. 1 Create a budget A budget can involve mapping out your spending each month, including line items earmarked for things like savings and debt repayment. A budget should be flexible, as expenses change over time. A common budgeting approach is the 50/30/20 rule, which devotes 50 percent of your income to needs, 30 percent to wants and 20 percent to savings. 2 Be mindful of expenses Look through your expenses and determine which ones can be reduced or eliminated. Some areas where consumers tend to spend more than necessary include: Food, insurance, mobile service and subscriptions. Go through your subscriptions and decide what you can live without and cancel them. 3 Start investing with a small amount If you already have emergency savings, consider investing in the financial markets. While it can be risky, it’s possible for this type of investing to outpace inflation, build wealth and save for goals like retirement. Ways people get started with investing commonly include: 401(k), S&P 500 and Mutual Funds. You do not need to have $1 million or all of your bills paid off. Start with a small amount, and be proactive. 4 Think beyond next year Building a financial plan can help you reach your money goals for now and beyond. Creating a financial plan involves calculating your net worth, income and expenses, and mapping out a savings strategy to reach your goals.

HOME LIBRARIES
Trends We'’re Watching

Book lovers with extensive collections dream of having a dedicated home library where they can store all of their books. Even those who primarily read on digital devices appreciate a quiet, cozy, and designated place to curl up with a good book. If you’ve got a spare room to devote to reading, the sky is the limit. But a home library doesn’t necessarily mean a room exclusively filled with shelves full of books. If you lack the budget or the real estate to build an aspirational home library with floor-to-ceiling shelves and a sliding ladder, take heart. You can create a home library in any size space, even if it means adding a bookshelf, chaise, and reading light to a corner

brownstone or a modern clean minimalist glass and pine wood bookshelf, the best part of the home library is how diverse they can be. Your home library can create warmth, but also allow you to visually escape from all the noise around you. A home library after all is about the books and the knowledge or joy they bring you. The home library has become the focal point of the room it’s in. It is often the center of conversation when someone new walks into the room where it resides.
