Monochrome is here to stay and Ali Baldiwala has taken it a notch higher. His latest project, a high rise residence is a dash of boldness in largeformat, large-impact monochromes. Dubbed as ‘Eye in the Sky,’ the three bedroom apartment looks over the city and the Arabian Sea, making the outdoors an important part in the overall look of the space. Laid out in perfect squares, each room contributes to the seamless continuity and efficiency of the space’s layout. The focus remains on rich materials and textures that underscore the tactility and sensuality of the understated but luxurious home. Outfitted with reflective white marble, the continuous flooring adds notes of serenity to the space, while accentuating all the furniture and colours within the home. “The home is bathed in black and white monochrome, a nice introduction to the various areas of the abode it has been adapted in. Calm and meditative - whether it’s on the geometric patterns or the shutters or a dalmata marble on an accent wall or the rug in a chevron black and white, this monochromatic theme forms the base of the concept - lending character that’s both airy and uncluttered. The array of blue tones i.e. teal, sea green and aqua, give one a sense of space beyond the one they’re seated in, beautifully tying the space together and echoing the overall theme of purity in the minimalistic black and white home,” shares Ali.

The comfy dark and light grey sofas from Blue Loft which are adorned by cushions from AA Living and Nomad. Ali has accentuated the look of the formal seating space with décor pieces from Defurn, The Koy Store and Rooshad Shroff that goes well with monochrome palette. The pink chair from Muuto breaks the monotony and lit up the space. You will also like the centre table that has been design by Baldiwala Edge. The dining in the nook is simple yet elegant in wood and Dalmata marble, spelling quiet luxury. The chairs in sea green compliment the pantone and add a dynamic flavour to the space. The offbeat and sleek suspended light by Arjun Rathi gives it a clean look.

THE DEN

Enter the den which is attached to the living and dining area. The wooden sliding door provides privacy as and when required. Blending well in the monochromatic theme is the white sofa and dhurrie from Weaver India.

THE MASTER BEDROOM

The hero of the room is the TV wall in dalmata marble that houses a TV console, a dressing unit, and a fragmented mirror. The opposite wall is covered in wallpaper from Maimoon Decor and an artwork by
