Shedding light on the promising future that is already taking shape in this area is Art Curator and Gallery artists and their impactful artworks.

As the Indian art landscape enters its truly contemporary phase, we are witnessing an increase in artistic curiosity and exploration. Especially at a time like now when global events affect us all, there is a lot that the artist take from his or her experience of the world. Contemporary art focuses entirely on this expression and its engagement. We now see the artist take more of a spotlight as they become more vocal about their opinions, perspectives and reasons for creating particular types of art using innovative mediums. Due to these explorations the upcoming crop of Indian artists cover an interesting spectrum and have a lot of potential to truly make an impact on a global scale! Therefore I would like to introduce you to my personal top five favorite upcoming Indian artists to keep a look out for! Shruti Jhaveri (Sustainable Art) Shruti’s art practice revolves around using everyday ecofriendly materials. Upcycling shredded waste paper, Shruti builds magnificent installations that leave the viewer in awe. Her raw and fluid coral textured wall sculptures perfectly evolve the mundane into a masterpiece. These 3D artworks swirl asymmetrically, taking the viewer into an alternate imaginative and meditative mindspace.

Viraj Mithani V (Mixed Media Art) Viraj Mithani’s artistic language explores both coded textures and mediums, such aslithography and digital p printing, and non-coded content that is personal andcontextual to him. Mithani’s practice strikes the perfect balance between the p traditional and the progressive. Citing images conjured from mythological and Indian context, Mithani strongly brings out his contemporary perspectives employing knowledge of colour psychology and abstraction. p

Savia Mahajan (Installation Art) Ceramics by Savia narrate stories of creation, transformation and transcendence. Her art leads the viewer into this on the ever-moving ideas of life and death. Mahajan’s installations simultaneously display extreme characters of strength and fragility, creation and destruction. It is a beautiful amalgamation of Art and Philosophy!

Rahul Inamdar (Abstract Art) Rahul Inamdar allows his intuition to paint his canvas. Colours emerge on canvas from the inner recesses of his mind – transparent sonorous reds, sombre greens and poignant greys. Inamdar’s composition is a constant quest strokes almost engulf the viewers gaze and open windows to his internal world of contemplation in contrast with the external world of chaos. Vipul Prajapati (Mixed Media Art) Having spent multiple years around a shipping yard in Gujarat, realities of life. Instances drawn from his life experiences culminate into monochrome washes on paper and canvas. Prajapati's classic matchbox series narrate stories of the ordinary man by contextualizing one’s items of daily necessity as his subject of abstraction. Creating impactful conversations with the viewers, Prajapati’s aesthetic successfully teaches a recurring life lesson of ‘less is more’.

All of these artists in their own way absorb their experience of the world around them! The interpretations made and the subsequent art created is a fine example of a life lived thoroughly. Contemporary means now and therefore the main trend in the Indian art world today is to engage continuously with the now. As viewers we continue this tradition of interaction and add our own layers of perception! That is the essence of all art appreciation.
