Describe a typical day

My husband, Emmanuel, and I (Ebi) start the day in our workshop, which is in our garage at home. Once we are up and ready, we head downstairs to the workshop and chat with our team about the plan for the week, which usually involves making candles and skincare or packing up orders. Depending on the season, we may also be testing out new scent blends for candles.

What is your favourite interiors trend?

I would say that we aren’t super trend driven, but I have noticed that people are moving towards filling their homes with natural textures such as woven homewares and wooden furnishings, which I absolutely love. What inspired you to set up shop?

The journey began while I was on maternity leave. For both of us, becoming parents was a driving force behind us thinking more deeply about where our products came from and what impact they have on the environment and our home. Additionally, when curating the items we have in our online shop, we want to make sure that we use products that take the wider world into consideration while also being beautifully designed.

What do you wish you knew before you started your business?

How many non-creative things you have to become an expert in! Skills like SEO (search engine optimisation), basic website coding and design are all incredibly important but of course, they’re not the most fun tasks to do.

What can we find in your shop?

We handcraft soy wax candles in a range of scents inspired by moments, feelings and places (£20 each). We also have handwoven homeware pieces starting from £11; these are crafted by Nigerian artisans who we work with directly. Both of us are from Nigeria

originally and so my husband and co-founder, Emmanuel, was able to travel there and find some amazing craftspeople to help us create our collection. We also hand make our skincare range using all natural and veganfriendly ingredients.

What are your best styling tips?

Look to nature for inspiration. We love to incorporate lots of greenery in our home and styling as it adds a sense of vibrancy and life without being overbearing. We also love to use baskets as a way to style a space and hide ugly things like remote controls and wires. ourlovelygoods.com
