Tuning the senses

Recognising the increased use of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in new vehicles, CoolDrive has recently welcomed a range of calibration equipment from Bosch.

“The importance of calibrating ADAS systems cannot be understated, even slight misalignments at the ADAS sensors can result in uncontrolled braking and adaptive cruise control operation, unwarranted triggering of braking-assist system, total shut down of ADAS and emergency braking distance systems,” Matthew detailed.

Also available through CoolDrive are the GYS Flash Battery Support Units (BSUs) which keep modern vehicle lead-acid and lithium batteries at a perfectly stabilised voltage through dedicated charging curves, providing energy for when the engine is turned off, which is critical for any diagnostics and ADAS calibration work.

In a further example of its response to the changing nature of the automotive landscape, CoolDrive has also increased its offerings around hybrid and electric vehicles.

This includes an expanded range of spare parts, tools and workshop apparel from leading brands including Bosch, Chargemate, Wallbox, Tolsen, Salisbury and Jaylec, as well as Heartsine defibrillators. Complementing this product range are training courses which provide an overview of hybrid and electric vehicle systems, and electronic battery management.

“As a trusted partner to workshops, CoolDrive understands the importance of training and staying up to date with ever-changing vehicle technology, not just hybrid and EVs,” Matthew said.

“Our comprehensive training sessions cover all manner of topics, with the over-arching aim to ensure CoolDrive customers have the tools to properly service and repair modern vehicles and are also equipped with the knowledge and hands-on experience of new and emerging technologies.”

CoolDrive hosts specialised training events across the country every year, with its experienced team consisting of automotive industry trainers, trade teachers, dealership technicians and partnerships with industry associations.

For the first time, CoolDrive’s technical training team will also be supporting the Technical Training Program at Autocare in June.
