Events The Civil Construction Field Days and the Brisbane Truck show were not only about trucks and the big construction equipment – with plenty of other companies showing off their wares. Here were some of the highlights

Plant growth Atlas Copco Hilight H6+ Atlas Copco’s new 8m LED lighting tower offers better lighting coverage with lower operating costs and reduced noise levels, the company says. At full strength, the floodlights can light up around 6,000 square metres, though the unit also has a dimming function to offer the right luminosity at each moment. Made from medium-density polyethylene, the unit’s HardHat body is designed to resist both low and high temperatures and to be resistant to corrosion and cracks. The lighting tower is also equipped with a heavy-duty filtration system, extending its service interval to 600 hours, and comes with an adjustable tow bar that enables it to be used while towing vans, trucks and pick-ups. products on display at the Civil Construction Field Days, but it was the solar-powered portable surveillance camera unit that caught our eye. Now available for hire across the country, the cameras can read number plates up to 150m away, including with infrared for night time viewing, and can rotate a full 360 degrees. From 4m high, the cameras also record all motion that takes place, with options to sound an alarm or send email and push notifications to an operator when movement is detected. The cameras can be installed by one person in roughly 20 minutes, and can be placed on the ground rather than requiring holes to be dug. Steprite safety access platforms Two models within Steprite’s range of safety access platforms, which can be used for construction jobs, mining maintenance and many other

locations, were on display. The platforms begin at a height of 50cm and increase in 25cm intervals to a maximum height of 3m. Concealed C-section fixings, anti-slip stairs, large and stable feet, a 915mm fully-welded handrail and an inwardopening lockable safety gate are among the features of all Steprite models. Upgrades for mine specifications are available, while another optional upgrade adds lockable swivel wheels as opposed to the ‘wheelbarrow-style’ method of easy-use lifting handles and two fixed wheels.
