ot all air seeders are created equal; the Taege range from New Zealand is tried and tested in some of the most rugged conditions, making it the perfect fit for Australian farms. Derek Genoni, from Australian distributor Gendore Group, says it is the clever, germination-focused design that sets these seeders apart, delivering optimum performance with a great operator experience. “Taege’s seeder design is unique, with narrow tungsten points mounted to vibrating ‘S’ tines that are set on a specific angle, so that the tine buries itself in the ground,” explains Genoni. “The tine goes up and down over contours independently of the frame, jumping rocks and following banks and hollows in a way that other machines simply can’t achieve. “It cuts through trash and hard compacted ground to plant the seed at a consistent depth, creating the perfect seed bed for superior germination and moisture retention.” On all machines, the ‘S’ tines are spaced 121mm apart, in four well-separated rows for exceptional trash clearance. The AS480 4.8m-wide and AS600 6m-wide models fold to 3.1m for transport. Trailed models are also available in 3m, 3.4m and 3.6m widths. “Our wide range of models allows operators to balance
horsepower requirements with efficient passing across the paddock,” says Genoni. Designed primarily for pasture renovation, the seeders can also be used for cereal crops at rates from 600g/ha for fine seed to 200kg/ha with fertiliser. Depending on the model, the Taege calibration system can handle up to three different boxes with no need for new controllers when upgrading from a one box unit. “The electronic calibration is very advanced but just so simple to use,” explains Genoni. “And the gentle double sponge roller metering system gives precise application of very low and very high seeding and fertiliser rates. “The major advantage is you can change rates on the run without leaving the tractor seat; a huge advantage when seeding over differing soil types.” Genoni says working speed over the paddock could be up to 25 per cent faster with a Taege. “You can only do that with a machine that follows the contours,” he adds. “It is an exceptionally good product with smart engineering, designed to deliver superior performance in all conditions.”
