New Holland’s baler and crop prep range

Fields of gold

The New Holland baler and crop preparation range helps farmers save time and money

New Holland continues to make inroads in hay and foraging with a full range of equipment including balers, mowers, tedders and rakes designed to deliver productive operation.

Its innovative BigBaler High Density range is capable of producing bales up to 22 per cent denser across different crop types when compared to conventional balers, the company says.

The range of balers also features a longer chamber, heavier chassis and density ring, as well as the Loop Master knotting system – a technology that employs a new type of double knot to produce stronger and more robust bales.

South Australian farmer Simon May says he boosted his baling output by “at least two to three times” using the BigBaler 1290 High Density baler.

“We went from a large ‘four by four by eight’ square baler to the New Holland 1290 BigBaler and there really is no comparison in terms of weight and throughput,” says May.

“Where we were averaging maybe 30 bales an hour, we are now able to produce 75 to 80 bales an hour of the same weight. It increases efficiency and saves time and trips to the processer as we’re handling fewer bales for the same tonnage out of the field.”

In the realm of the roll-belt balers, New Holland has been a leading force for over a quarter of a century and was the first to introduce many revolutionary technologies now commonplace among variable chamber balers today.

The latest fleet of roll belt balers – the RB180 and RB150 – continue to improve on existing technologies with the advanced Roll-Belt tech, which can improve capacity by up to 20 per cent and density by up to five per cent.

Higher outputs mean more crop is baled at optimum conditions, with the feed assist roller funnelling crop into the rotor more efficiently while density cylinders, located on either side of the chamber, maintain uniformity.

New Holland’s IntelliBale technology also enables the baler to control the tractor’s forward motion and bring the machines to a stop when the bale is ready to wrap, then raises and closes the tailgate when the bale has been ejected before giving a signal to continue baling.

New Holland’s series of front mounted disc mowers includes the high performance DiscCutter F mower conditioner and the DuraDisc F mower.

The former is available in both 3.11 and 3.52m options and features advanced contour flotation technology which enables the mower to follow the ground accurately. The DuraDisc F is available in a 2.96m model and features the pendulum flotation system, designed to always follow ground contours.

The rear-mounted DuraDisc non-conditioning mower is available in 2.02–2.77m cutting widths and benefits from the same mechanical flotation system. Other options in New Holland’s mower range include the five-model rear mounted pendulum suspended DiscCutter range which is available in 2.37 to 3.85m cutting widths.

New Holland’s range of tedders – ProTed – is available in both mounted and trailed specifications.

Six mounted models with working widths of 4.5–8.8m are available within the range while trailed tedders, ideal for operators looking to optimise the horsepower to width ratio, are available at 8.8m width.

Tedders with widths from 6.6–7.6m are equipped with six rotors while the 8.8m models are fitted with eight rotors. The brand’s range of ProRotor L rakes features two side mounted rakes that can deliver the crop to the left-hand side on the 640T.

A multi-link frame also enables variable working widths – able to be adjusted from the cab, while operators can also choose between single swath, two individual swaths of the turn swath option.

New Holland’s ProRotor C double rotor rakes for central crop deliver is available in four models – the 660, 760, 820 and the 660M – all of which are fully mounted from 6.15–8.2m working widths.

All models can be hydraulically folded for transport where they are less than four metres in height – ideal for transporting in areas with overhanging foliage.
