MOWING
Whether it’s for an everyday farmer or a busy contractor, Samasz Mowers has a mowing option to suit everyone
Ready to mow
Built in Poland and imported to Australia by Colac Ag, the Samasz disc mower range is designed to help farmers get the most out of their fodder crops.
Samasz says its disc mower range is engineered to cause no turf damage, helping ensure animals get the maximal amount of value from the harvested fodder.
For everyday farmers in Australia, the most popular models are in the KDT series, with more than 10,000 working on paddocks across the world.
With eight discs across a working width of 2.6–3.4m, the KDT 340 and KDT 341 have a swath width of 1.4–2m and 2.3–2.8m respectively, and both with a working capacity of 3–4 hectares per hour.
The mowers offer stapless regulation of cutting height – from 4.5cm to 7cm – while optional topping plates can increase the cutting height to up to 12cm.
The mowers are built for operator-friendly use, with automatic locking and hydraulic lifting for headlands as well as adjustable lower hitch pins for easier attachment to various tractor types.
The KDT 341 comes with options of a double outer rubber swath guide and a two-swath cutterbar configuration assembled by the manufacturer, while both can also come with a cutting disc with instep.
The mowers include roller or flail conditioner and transporter conveyor options that can bring the grass into one windrow.
For contractors, Samasz’s MegaCut KDD 861 and KDD 941 double disc mower conditioners boast many of the same features with regard to cutting height and operator friendliness.
However the units are able to handle a much wider area, with the KDD 861 boasting a working width of 8.6m thanks to two mower heads with a swath width of between 1.9–2.3m that enable it to cover about 10ha/h.
The KDD 941 has a working width of 9.4m, with twin mower heads able to reach 2.3–2.7m wide, enabling the unit to cover about 11ha/h.
The units are equipped with 14 discs and 16 discs respectively and also come with Kennfix hydraulic connectors, a central suspension system, four support legs and a ground pressure relief system.
Optional tine conditioning, rubber conditioning roller or steel on steel conditioning rollers are also available on the units.

BALE WRAPPER
Elho’s largest bale wrapper and its 9.5m super swather are now available Down Under through Colac Ag
Centre stage
Finnish manufacturer Elho’s Sideliner 1790 Pro bale wrapper and V-Twin 950 Super swather, representing some of the larger products in its range, are now available Down Under.
Now available in Australia through Colac Ag, the Elho Sideliner 1790 Pro was built by Elho for large diameter round bales.
Able to wrap bales from 1.2–1.8m in diameter and up to 1.2m wide, the machine can handle bales weighing up to 1,600kg – above the unit’s own weight of 1,480kg.
The Sideliner 1790 fully automates the wrapping process, from loading to offloading, using its intelligent control system to automatically align the bale to the centre of the wrap table.
Dual 750mm satellite wrap arms with film guards come as standard, along with a hydraulically controlled tow bar to ensure smooth and convenient handling.
It also comes with standard 17-inch (43cm) wheels, road transport lights and mudguards.
The unit can be trailed behind a tractor, though Elho will also provide an additional mounting set as

an option to connect the wrapper to a round baler.
Also available as options are a bale turning ramp or drop mat to make collection of the wrapped bales easier – with the ramp able to be set to drop bales to either the left or right.
Colac Ag has also made the new Elho V-Twin 950 Super swather available in Australia, saying its adjustable working width means it can be used with any forage harvester – and do its work following any harvest method – regardless of its size.
The wide trailed swather has an adjustable working width of 4.5–9.5 metres with a swath width of 1.3–2.2m, which Elho says also makes the model ideal for irregular paddock sections as well.
The swather’s HydroBalance suspension system helps it follow the ground smoothly, while its 2.4–3.2m transport width means it’s easy to move.
Elho also uses double rotors on the 950 to lift the forage and move it to the centre without it touching the ground – helping it produce high-quality forage – which it can position to either the right- or left-hand sides of the tractor.
Colac Ag also distributes other products in the Elho range. To find out more, contact the team at Colac Ag on 03 5231 6999 or visit them online at colacag.com.au.
