CARRIER TRANSICOLD CONTINUES TO EXPAND ELECTRIC TRANSPORT REFRIGERATION ACROSS EUROPE TO ADDRESS ALL VEHICLE TYPES.
Committed to reducing emissions, improving sustainability and increasing efficiency across the refrigerated transport sector, Carrier Transicold has been lately boosting its strategy to offer innovative solutions to replace fuel motors with the electrification of its refrigeration systems. As a result, refrigerated vehicles can now be fully electric from the vehicle’s motor to the refrigeration system. Carrier Transicold is a pioneer in that matter and is already operating on roads in 10 European countries. The benefits are numerous starting by CO2 emissions and operating cost reductions, but also lower noise exposure.
The Vector eCool, the world’s first fully autonomous, all-electric engineless refrigerated trailer system, is Carrier’s most significant contribution to

Utilising a new energy recovery and storage system, the Vector eCool converts kinetic energy generated by the trailer axle and brakes into electricity, that is then stored in a battery pack powering the refrigeration unit. The Vector eCool is also PIEK-compliant, meaning when used with City versions of the Vector HE 19 and Vector 1550 E, the operating noise of the system is below 60 dB(A). Combined with its emissions performance, the Vector eCool provides the ultimate solution to tightening inner-city and urban regulations.
At Solutrans 2021, Carrier Transicold announced that hundreds of Vector eCool units are now operating on roads in 10 European countries (Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom), with many more nations on the horizon.
“We have very positive feedback from customers on the Vector eCool’s performance, lower emissions profile and quietness,” said Victor Calvo, President, International Truck Trailer, Carrier Transicold.
Carrier’s flagship system is also getting recognition from leading stakeholders. In one year of existence, it is already a multiple award winner with three innovation awards this year alone. In April, the Spanish capital of Madrid recognized its efficiency and innovative nature. In September 2021, Carrier Transicold and Gray & Adams were awarded a TCS&D Innovation Award in the UK and a month later, the Vector eCool won a Noise Abatement Society award in the UK for its significant low level of silent operation.

Have confidence in last mile electric solutions with the NEOS HE 100 S. Iceland, the engineless and undermount solution for trucks.
Lamberet and STEF recently teamed to explore the future of transport refrigeration systems with the FresH2 hydrogen fuel cell refrigeration system for trailers. FresH2 is a clean and quiet solution designed to deliver electricity required by refrigeration units installed on temperature-controlled road transport semi-trailers.
For trucks, Carrier Transicold offers the Iceland and Syberia engineless refrigeration units that can be powered by ECO-DRIVE hydroelectric power module GenSet, driven by a hydro pump connected to the truck’s power take-off motor. The hydraulic system drives a generator that delivers electrical power to the host unit and provides a continual, 100 per cent refrigeration capacity even at the truck’s standard idle speed. These high cooling capacity refrigeration units run entirely on hydroelectric power generated by a truck’s ultra-clean Euro 6 engine – cutting emissions and maintenance costs, while improving fuel efficiency.
“Our clients have expressed their great interest for engineless refrigerated systems, and we are seeing an acceleration in our clients’ choice of investment, and in their ability to plan for the years ahead,” said Jean-Pascal Vielfaure, Managing Director France and Southern Europe for Carrier Transicold.
Additionally, Carrier Transicold has developed a wide range of battery packs, suitable for trailer, truck and direct drive segment, from Vector HE units to Pulsor and including the new Neos HE range models.
Carrier’s strategy to boost the electrification of its refrigerated systems and propose new eco-friendly alternatives is in line with its 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Goals. Signed in 2015, Carrier Transicold bases all its products and solutions developments on the 4 pillars of its charter of sustainability: reduce CO2 emissions, decrease particulate emissions, lower noise emissions, and maintain efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Carrier is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of its customers by a gigaton by 2030. Carrier Transicold’s electrical cold chain products and solutions are offered through Carrier’s Healthy, Safe, Sustainable Cold Chain Program to preserve and protect the supply of food, medicine, and vaccines.
