Purebred Yearling Charolais Bulls
Purebred or Percentage Yearling Simmental Bulls
Percentage Yearling Maine Anjou Bulls
Purebred Yearling Angus Bulls
Black Angus & Black Simmental Replacement Heifers
Welcome to our 29TH ANNUAL BULL SALE!
There’s a lot of momentum in the cattle industry and rightfully so! The beef industry raises a nutrient dense, high-quality protein product that plays a vital role in feeding the world. If you attend any sort of Junior Show, 4-H Show, or other youth ag related event, you also know that the ag industry raises a really awesome set of youth with solid values.
While we enjoy promoting and marketing our genetics at shows, at the end of the show season, the show cattle are put in the main herd and can work right alongside the rest of our cows, under ranch conditions. We are proud of this set of bulls and the genetics they stem from. Our cows are not pampered, we breed for easy-fleshing, low maintenance, good, honest cows that are highly productive. We expect our cows to be adaptable, efficient and functional. We take a great deal of pride in developing cattle that are able to thrive in practical settings, in an effective and economical way.
The Daines family has owned and operated the Innisfail Auction Market since 1955. The market handles thousands of feeders and breeding cattle. While working there, Grant sees many of them. His hands on involvement in the market provides us with valuable insight as to what
is happening in the industry. We don’t believe in following fads, but rather watching trends and making decisions based on profitability and practicality.
The sale bulls were run on grass for the fall, then they came in and have been on silage and straw in addition to their mixed ration and supplement. They are run on a 20acre field and are pail fed. As always, we are mindful of temperament. We want our cattle to work good, look good and be good to handle. Our goal is to develop these bulls in such a way that they are ready to go out and get to work breeding cows for you. We have a good selection of pedigrees, power bulls and calving ease bulls. Every bull that sells, sells with a passed semen test. No DD bulls will sell.
If you would like to come to the ranch to view the bulls prior to the sale, we would love to have you! The replacement females are run on the same farm and any walking herd sires are close by. The bulls will also be available from the Monday before the sale, leading right up to the sale. If you are unable to make the sale, please let us know in advance and we will work with you to find the right bull for your program. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to give one of us a call!
In closing, we want to extend a big thank you all of our past buyers and bidders for their support! You are sincerely appreciated.
We look forward to hosting you at the sale on April 4th!

ONL HOT DAM 14C
Since the day he hit the ground, Back Road has kept the pedal down. He has a nice birthweight out of an attractive, deep sided, two-year-old Ransom daughter and she did a heck of a job on him. Back Road was Res. Champion Charolais Bull at Olds Fall Classic and Intermediate Champion Bull Calf at Agribition. He made the top 10 show bulls, only attending two shows. He was in our Res. Champion Pen of 3 at Alberta Select. He’s super sound and has that quality herd bull skull. He’s big topped, square hipped, good in his forerib, really stout and he carries that stoutness down into his lower quarter. The grandmother, 14C is a tank and has been an awesome producer. She has a bull in the sale again this year and we have been walking a son of hers, ONL 13G. The maternal great grandmother, 298Z, is 12 and still producing; she’s heavy milking and weans off one of our biggest calves every year. 298Z has 3 full sib embryos in sale, Lots 4, 5 and 6. This cow family has been one of our most profitable, no miss cow families. His sire, WIA Back Water Jack has worked awesome and his semen is hard to come by in Canada. Back Road has an impressive set of numbers. He’s in the top 10% for 7 of the 12 EPD traits and top 20% for 10 of the 12. Take his cool look, power, presence, proven pedigree, impressive numbers - top it off with a quiet disposition and just the right amount of he knows he’s good swagger and Back Road certainly has elite herd sire written all over him!

There is no mistaking this guy in the pen, he has been a standout from day one and with good reason. We were so excited to get our first set of Ruger calves on the ground and they did not disappoint. Ruger was our high selling bull in 2022 for $72,000 and had full sisters selling for $18,000 and $22,500, further proving the consistency and quality in that pedigree. In December, a half sister to 122L sold for $16,000 to Serheinko Cattle Co. in the Superstar Sale. We crossed those genetics with THRR Sydney 7100E who has loads of middle, the most perfect udder, great feet and is just an all around no miss, favourite cow around here. The neck extension, length of spine, sound structure and presence makes this guy work in the show ring and the commercial herd. Here is a chance to put this herd bull in your pen with leading genetics!

This guy’s mother THRR KAY 7189E is one of the standout cows here on the place with an exceptionally well-made udder, sound structure and great feet. This cow has put bulls in the bull sale and females in the female sales we consign to, she doesn’t miss. Here is a great opportunity at a bull who puts everything in a complete package with lots of growth.

When we flushed the Miss Trim 298Z cow to LT Ransom we knew we weren’t rolling the dice – we were confident they would be good. Demand is proof! This bull combines softness with muscle and eye appeal. He stands on a really correct foot and leg. Demand stems from two of what we think are some of the strongest maternal cows in the Charolais breed, Miss Trim 298Z and LT Shelia. When it comes to the sire side, the more Ransom progeny we use the more we want to have in our herd. We have so much good to say about our young Ransom females that are in production. Like all the 298Z progeny, Demand is quiet and easy to handle. Demand was in our Reserve Champion Pen of 3 Bulls at Alberta Select.

He is in the top 5% of the breed for weaning weight and yearling weight. 119L will add growth and eye appeal to your calf crop. Good disposition on this bull as well. A full sister from this flush sold in the Superstar Sale to Highway 21 Feeders for $15,000.
ONL SIR RAMSOM 101L
Another flush mate from the of the 298Z and Ransom cross. One of our favourite things about the 298Z cow is how much milk she has. 101L is a really muscular, packed full of meat kind of bull. He has a really nice head and carries his power in a well-balanced, good-looking package. This guy is yet another good natured, calm dispositioned bull.

His granddam, the 7Z cow is one of our best and is also the grand dam to Lot 44. A maternal half sister to 129L sold in a previous Friday Night Light’s sale to Rusylvia Cattle and Lee Shologan.

For sure the Simmental bull with the most body in the offering. This bull does a great job of combining frame and softness – not always two traits that go together. Awesome hair coat and eye-catching coloring on this guy! The Game Face progeny have all been gentle and good to handle – 15L is no exception.
We all like to talk about how good our old cows are and there’s no denying their worth and longevity, but where do they start out? As our good young cows that produce like this. 54L is long made, good muscled bull that’s hard not to like.
DAINES SIR GAME FACE 28L
Talk about production – the 28D cow has had a bull every single year and they all have made the top end of the bull sale. She herself has a blaze face and is a really good looking cow. 49L has extra body mass, is huge topped and stands on extra bone. He’s sired by our old 97U bull, who just never gets outdated and never fails to sire good ones. The 39H cow is one of our best producing young Simmental cows. She had a really good bull in the sale last year as well.
A nice, F1 blazed face bull here. You get that Simmental power and blaze with the added maternal of the Angus. With these percentage/hybrid cattle you can keep using Simmental bulls without losing your heterosis. Breed like cattle to like cattle and you are just apt to get some cattle you like. Take advantage of that hybrid vigour with these percentage bulls.
This is the nicest fronted Game Face that has that herd sire head. Coming from a proven dam, he could work well in a purebred herd.
Probably one of, if not, the coolest looking Maine bull that has that showring look. He is really nice in his neck and should junction. He is a full brother to our high selling Maine bull last year to Byman Cattle Co. 98L has lots of power and style!

Well, here is a cross you don’t see everyday in a bull sale, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. When I got back into the Maines, one thing I wanted to do was cross them on my Charolais.
