We have been raising purebred Gelbvieh for 23 years now and are excited for the future of the breed as well as the growth of the industry. The past 4 years we have teamed up with Bullseye Feeds to feed our bulls with a more wholistic approach focusing on overall herd health and utilizing on farm products as much as possible! Along with their help we are targeting a 3.3lb/day gain over a longer amount of time rather than the Bull Test approach. We feed our bulls a high fiber, high roughage, total mixed ration of hay, silage and ground grain along with a high concentrated mineral pack designed for the specific ration and pen of bulls! We feel that growing our bulls out this way will ensure the highest rate of success and longevity of our Bulls!
The focus of our herd starts with the mother cow! We do our best to raise and maintain the highest quality females that we can in our operation. You will quickly realize that correct structure, excellent udders, moderate cow size, good temperament and overall production are our measuring stick of who stays and who goes! We aim to replace 35 females every year while maintaining a herd of 150 females to calve each year. The other ½ of the puzzle is the working herdsires! We do our best to source the highest 0quality herd bulls as we need. Our focus is moderate BW to Explosive growth while maintaining structural correctness, excellent Phenotype, backed by a dam with maternal strength! Bull Development & Delivery:
Bulls that you chose to return to farm will continue to be developed an their current ration, and can be picked up at the buyers convenience, prior to April 1st,2023. However Bulls returning to the farm MUST be insured! Bulls can be developed at the farm for free until April 1st. After that date there will be a $4/day charge. Bulls will be delivered for free within 200 miles and delivered anywhere beyond at a minimal cost. There will be a $50 discount for bulls taken home the day of the sale.

In the Spring of 2021 we were very excited to add this Elite Herdsire! We purchased 50% share on Masterplan and own him with Severtson Land and Cattle. Masterplan has a ton to offer the breed and the industry. He is easy calving, clean fronted and has the extra extension with a small skull shape. Understanding EPD’s Calving ease direct (CED): Percent of unassisted births of a bull’s calves when he is used on heifers. A higher number is favorable, meaning better calving ease. This EPD can be vital to a rancher looking to decrease the amount of calves pulled in his herd.
Milk (Milk): The genetic ability of a sire’s daughters to produce milk expressed in pounds of weaning weight.
Calving ease maternal (CEM): Represented as percent of unassisted births in a sire’s first-calving daughters. A higher number represents more favorable calving ease. This EPD is important to a rancher’s bottom line because it predicts which animals produce daughters with a genetic pre-disposition to calve unassisted as heifers.
Birth weight (BW): Predicts the difference, in pounds, for birth weight of the calf.

Terms - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made prior to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. We reserve the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should the purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, we reserve full power to resell the animal to the best advantage, either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The owners and sale staff have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment and/or who has not made credit arrangements prior to the sale with the owners and/or sale management. Bid - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.
Purchaser’s Risk - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.
Certificate of Registry - The proper registration or recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made.
Weaning weight (WW): Predicts the difference, in pounds, for weaning weight (adjusted to age of dam and a standard 205 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to weaning.
Yearling weight (YW): Predicts the expected difference, in pounds, for yearling weight (adjusted to a standard 365 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to yearling.
Total maternal (TM): An index that combines growth and milk information as a prediction of the weaning weight performance of calves from a sire’s daughters. As an index, this value is not reported with an accompanying accuracy. A greater TM value means a mother that returns comparatively higher weaning weights on her calves. TM Index = MK EPD + ½ WW EPD.
Shipping - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale, but sale management or seller assumes no risk. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.
Guarantee - All animals will carry standard breeding guarantee as specified by the applicable Canadian Breed Association. At no time shall the seller’s liability exceed the purchased price of the animal.
Exception to Guarantee - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. In the cases of bulls, they are guaranteed to breed naturally according to applicable Canadian Breed Association guarantee, but no guarantee is given that semen from any bull will freeze.
Health - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state.
Accidents - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale management, auctioneer, or association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident of loss of property.
Rights and Obligations - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and the terms and conditions for this sale do not cover obligations of the two parties connected thereto.
US Buyers The standard terms and conditions apply with the exception that the seller is responsible for cross border health testing.
