The Gelbvieh Association of Alberta/BC would like to welcome you to the 2018 Wish List weekend and Sale. This weekend has proven to be a notable high light in the Canadian Gelbvieh circle… a great time to catch up and visit with many Gelbvieh enthusiasts as well as a chance to take home some outstanding Gelbvieh genetics to add to your herd. The weekend will kick off with a banquet on Friday night. Bob Ronnie catering has been serving a “helluva” meal for the last few years, and we are looking forward to another super prime rib supper. The evening will feature a live and silent auction, lots of visiting and catching up. Saturday will start off with the Annual Meeting, followed by a beef on a bun lunch. The Wish List Bull Jackpot will commence at 1 pm followed by the Wish List Sale at 4 pm. A pizza party will follow the Wish List sale. The bull jackpot is a great way to showcase upcoming “great ones” and let other breeders know about your program or offerings in your upcoming bull sale season. Anytime we sell a female named Julie, we know we are going to regret letting her go. Twin View Julie 138E is certainly no exception. Her granddam is none other than former National Champion, AR Julie 14J, who exemplified productivity and function. During our field day this summer, 138E’s maternal sister was a crowd favourite and for good reason. Productive Bred Heifers This is one of those females that really made us think about whether to sell her or not, but I guess you can’t keep all the good ones. This heifer topped our heifer pen and could catch anyone's eye walking through our replacements. She comes by it honestly as the Adele cow family are all moderate framed, dark red, with good feet and beautiful udders. Fancy Heifer Calves Something new this year for the Wish List sale, a halfblood. We knew we had something special with this heifer calf, and after touring a few astute cattlemen through our herd over the summer she was always one that was picked to be a favorite. Tamarra bought her grand dam ‘Sweet Pea” out of JT Livestocks production sale a few years ago with the intentions of breeding up from there using “Sweet Pea” as a foundation female. Her genetic makeup is no fluke, this heifer was bred to be fancy, correct all the while being extremely functional, and she absolutely does not disappoint. Here is a smooth made moderate 50% heifer that would work as a female to continue breeding up from, or as a 4-H or Jr. prospect.

When selecting for this sale, I go though and pick females that I can bring to town and show off our program. The hardest part is letting these really good ones go. That being said, this heifer has a stacked pedigree and is here to showcase our program. The bulls in this heifer’s background include Third Edition and Crown Royal, a couple of the most moderate, heavy muscled, structurally correct bulls who are also extremely athletic and easy keeping. The cow family is no slouch either, as her grand dam who has had four calves so far has left us with 2 females that are in production and also placed a walking sire at Koziak Land and Cattle this spring. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATIONS: Each purebred animal will carry papers issued by the Gelbvieh Association of Canada. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made. HEALTH: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements. GUARANTEE: Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Gelbvieh Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness. PREGNANCY INFORMATION: All serviceable age females have been pregnancy examined by an accredited veterinarian, giving an estimated length of gestation. This estimated gestation period shall be use only as a guideline to calving and is not a guarantee of actual service.
