On behalf of the Gelbvieh Association of Alberta and BC board I would like to welcome everyone to the 2014 Wish List weekend. We have spent the last year preparing for this event to improve on the great success it has been in the past. What an exciting time to be in the cattle industry! Prices are setting records we never thought possible and everyone seems to have a smile on their face. This optimism is sure to spill over to bull sales next spring and good genetics will be in even higher demand in years to come. The Wish List Sale has become a premier event to source the very best genetics the Gelbvieh breed has to offer. Consignors have dug deep into their programs and selected the very best of what they have to represent their operations. The heifer calves, bred females and embryo lots in this sale have the genetics to drive your breeding program ahead. Past Wish List sale consignments have went on to be National Champions and producers of high sellers. That same level of quality will be on offer December 6th in Red Deer. Many sale females will be out at this fall’s shows so make sure to check them out there as well. We have selected a sales team that we feel will give an honest representation of the sale cattle. Loren Unger is our sales consultant and Ryan Hurlburt is the auctioneer. These two gentlemen have a long history in the Gelbvieh breed and are well suited to advancing the Wish List sale. Feel free to contact either of them or any consignor when selecting the next addition to your program. If you are unable to be in Red Deer the sale will be broadcast live through Liveauctions.tv so you can still participate. Don’t forget the sale is only one part of the Wish List weekend. We are very reluctant to sell 108A however we are retaining her twin sister we decided we could part with her. The Disco family is one of the largest and most productive in our program. Many of them have been used for 4-H projects. Both 108A’s granddam and great granddam were Grand Champion 4-H Females and produced into their teens. Her dam has also turned into a great producer and had a daughter also sell in the 2011 Wish List Sale to Jen-Ty Gelbvieh. Her sire, Yoick’s, has done a great job for us.
