C1 India entered the e-procurement domain in 2000. Back then, e-procurement was an emerging market and convincing market players to adopt the newer technology was a strenuous task. However, C1 India’s founders had faith in the untapped potential of public procurement. In the late nineties, there was little being done in the name of digital governance. The NEGP (National e-Governance Plan) was established later in 2006 which laid out areas where there was a need for computerization. Even the income tax e-filing came only in September 2004. A few other large initiatives like the online train ticketing system also launched in 2002. At a time when there were few concerted programs for e-Governance in India, C1 India developed and launched a comprehensive e-Procurement platform for Government departments. It became the first organization in India to offer e-Procurement solutions on a SaaS model and roll out a statewide e-Procurement implementation. Within just two years of its existence, C1 India created its niche in e-Procurement. In 2002, the Government of Andhra Pradesh partnered with the company to develop India’s first e-Procurement Portal, which spurred the growth of the brand.

Here’s his take on the matter: “As a decision-maker, you can always find a solution if you try hard enough. Believe in your dreams and your ability to accomplish them. To reach your ultimate potential, your personal best, and to make the ‘impossible’ possible, just pick a goal, a goal you truly want to achieve, take a clear-eyed look at your weaknesses, push yourself, go to the absolute limits and not fear failure. When people are successful, we always focus on their success, not on the years of struggle, failure, and trying again and again. We only see the bright side and don’t want to or forget about the years of hard work, while those years mostly bring the most inspiring and motivational stories. So, don’t be afraid of failure. It’s merely a stepping stone on the path to success. Be fearless and embrace all the failures you encounter on your journey. With time, you’ll realize your true potential and succeed in your undertaking. Always remember, sheer perseverance and steadfast determination conquer all.”
Integration of new modules with procurement system:
C1 plans to soon integrate new modules with their procurement solution so as to make it more powerful and reliable. Their BI reporting tool will be able to visually analyze the data, extract meaningful insights and give more control over report distribution and scheduling. Background: what had prompted to work for the reformation of the prison inmates:
nternationally acclaimed Jute Revivalist and Social Reformer, Chaitali Das, is the prestigious Guinness World Record holder for the largest jute bag in the world. 30 years into philanthropy, she is a former Mrs. International, Times Power Woman - Social Entrepreneur 2019, Social Icon of the Year 2021 by Economic Times & HRD India, Social Entrepreneur of the year 2019 By MSME Bangalore. She is the Global Chairperson & Managing Trustee of Rakshak Foundation. Her contribution to humanitarian service has earned her a number of international and national awards and recognitions. She is the first-ever Fortune Most powerful women, US/ State Department alumna from Bengal. Chaitali has led the first-ever Indian all-women’s delegation to China, first-ever delegation representing an Indian Non-Profit Civil Society Organization in two consecutive years to China. She has advocated and promoted jute, in various prestigious platforms in countries like US, Netherlands, Canada, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Dubai, Nepal, Sri Lanka to name a few. The combined ethos of Revival and Reformation is reflected in all the work she has accomplished and plans to undertake in the future. Chaitali Initiated an innovative Store-on-Wheels for showcasing diversified jute products. The heritage tram ‘PAATRANI’ which translates to ‘Queen of Jute’ was immensely appreciated and applauded by the people of Kolkata. She is involved in social upliftment of the underprivileged. Her skill and livelihood development project ‘Jute Story Beyond Bars’ in the Dumdum Central Correctional Home and Presidency Correctional Home has been widely appreciated and applauded as a very important step in reformation of prison inmates and helping to de-stigmatize their existence. She has helped to rehabilitate released female prison inmates and their reinclusion into the mainstream society. Being a woman, economic empowerment also occupies a significant space in her work. In all her projects, she has tried to involve maximum number of women as beneficiaries. She has conducted various activities and training programs for women in the correctional homes, including painting, leather bag making, cookie making and such, to engage the inmates into constructive and gainful activities. Chaitali’s own path has not been easy either. She has had her own share of gender discrimination, alienation and dissuasion as she ploughed her way into the field of social service. Nevertheless, she not only persuaded her family and friends to understand her point of view but also wrought the wider society to take notice and applaud her work. Appreciation came in generously, once she had emphatically established her work and relentlessly made progress on her chosen path. Chaitali consistently continued the welfare work when she served as the President and the Assistant Governor at the Rotary International and served on boards of various national & international non-profit organizations, including various chambers of commerce. From Fashion shows, showcasing jute on prestigious international and national platforms to making a world record to conceiving unique, innovative projects to promoting jute and advocating eco-conservation and reformation of the society, Chaitali Das cuts an outstanding figure as a revivalist and reformer.
Great grand daughter of Justice Chandra Madhav Ghosh and daughter of Public Prosecutor and Professor of Law, Chaitali grew up in a family of legal practitioners. As a child she had the opportunity to visit her father in the Alipore Police Court , a sight caught her attention, she saw some people were getting off the police van hand cuffed, with thick rope around their waist, their kin and close ones trying to reach them out and policemen driving them away . The humiliation that branded the undertrials and the ordeal of their families also the stigma when they return back to the mainstream after serving the tenure disturbed her. Her philanthropic and socially responsible zeal found a match in her husband, a business man who supported her with funding. As the Managing Trustee of Rakshak foundation she worked in various humanitarian services in the area of women empowerment while conserving environment, targeting inclusive growth which includes Nabadisha Centre for street children with Kolkata Police, Government of W.B. Computer Training Centre for adolescent girls, Debate, seminars to advocate gender parity. In 2016, her Foundation received the permission to work in Alipore Women’s Correctional Home from the Directorate of Correctional Service, Govt. of W.B. for the vocational training, aiding to reformation measures. The journey was not easy, to work with prison inmates which was vehemently opposed by her close ones and peers. Nevertheless, she went ahead with her mission with a firm resolve. She faced social isolation in her business circles and was looked down upon for working with people carrying the tag of Convict. She faced discouragement when she decided to work on reviving Jute. She was told that it was not worth, as it constituted a dying industry and a very base material to work. However, despite all the dissuasion in 2017, she began work towards bringing an Ecofriendly green revolution behind the tall walls of confinement, resulting in the launch of her project ‘Jute Story Beyond Bars’ (JSBB). After the project was formalized, she faced multiple challenges into the high security area of the prison. Initially, she faced reluctance from the inmates to begin work. It incurred huge waste of raw material and time. Inmates are trained through ongoing workshops, under the aegis of her Foundation. Two product development units are successfully running under her team’s supervision, a Former inmate Ms. Lovely Adhikary and a certified trainer Amrita Adhikary are employed by her foundation for supervising the units at Dum Dum Central Correctional Home & Presidency Correctional Home. Her journey continues to reach out across the globe with the Indian jute products as fashion statement by adding a gamut of new designs, she has infused a new life and vibrance in the way Jute is perceived, she has revolutionised the pattern & usage of Jute products.
