Editor’s Note Indian Artisans to Come at Forefront
Shweta Singh Assistant Editor
W
hen we throw light at the international scenario of the fashion industry, few Indian brands are doing well at the global level. Thanks to Indian unique and traditional artistic culture whose existence is still sustained and reformed in contemporary ways to represent India at the international level. The beauty of India lies in its traditions, culture, and art forms that make it unique in every way. Indian artisans have a big role to preserve and amplify the oldest Indian art and craft culture thereby creating quality handicraft products. Obsession for wearing Indian traditional jewelry at auspicious occasions and festivities is going to be a never-ending process. We can see the creativity of several extremely talented artisans of India has been lost over the years. New-age women have been a crucial aspect of India that needs some boost from some brands to help out poor women artisans to earn their living and also give their creativity a recognition at the domestic and international level. For a long, India was waiting for such a platform that can not only up bring the hidden artistic talents to the forefront but also offer them genuine financial help to earn their living. The fashion jewelry and apparel industry have a very bright prospect, consistent with reports. Sales of jewelry and apparel are expected to cross 250 billion euros by this year. The worldwide pandemic of COVID-19 has slowed the growth considerably, but sales will rebound again with ending the disease. This edition is going to cover the entire journey of SINI Designs Pvt Ltd and how Mrs. Neetu Singh’s creation provided a platform for several artisans to showcase their skills and earn well. Hope this edition will inspire the entrepreneurs who believe in social work and for whom business is not just a means of profit-making but also doing something unique for the enrichment of the society. In the end, I would like to thanks the entire team members of Prime Insights Magazine for their gratefulness and generous contribution to work with harmony at this difficult period of the pandemic.

SINI DESIGNS’ Challenges As An Upcoming Fashion & Design Brand
Ms. Neetu Singh’s Inspiration Behind Founding SINI DESIGNS
When starting out, Ms. Singh had completed 10 years of her marriage and was raising two children. This brought with it a great deal of struggle and challenges. She had to develop the necessary perseverance, commitment, and endurance to sustain the pursuits of her goals. Despite the struggles, the situation had a silver lining also. As she was a first-generation entrepreneur, and that too without any prior work experience, she had a clean slate to explore, experiment, and feel the trends from the people’s perspectives. As a team leader, the limited platform available for the products was a major handicap, however, it led to the emergence of “SMALL SCALE TO CORPORATE” Business Model. By providing a platform to the team where they could showcase their works and earn on a permanent basis, she was able to establish that small scale and house hold industries could be modelled under the corporate ambit, thus widening the horizon for the people. The platform greatly benefited struggling Artisans from North Eastern states, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab who faced issues like the absence of market platform and exploitation by middle men. With Ms. Singh’s hand holding, guidance, and protection, they got their due remuneration and recognitions. Another challenge faced by SINI was to ensure that it makes a
After completing her studies, Ms. Neetu Singh desired to do something to help underprivileged women. She complimented this desire of hers with her natural knack for fashion designing by training poor artisans (especially women) to enhance their skills. Over time, her determination resulted in the creation of a cluster of artisans having knowledge of Indian Art and skills to create world-class products. It proved to be a milestone in her journey towards entrepreneurship in 2005. To meet the global, traditional, and contemporary fashion trends existing in the country and across the world, she started designing fashion accessories and garments to showcase the creations of the skilled women artisans in domestic and international markets. To further complement her entrepreneurial endeavour, she sharpened her skills by graduating in Fashion Designing alongside. In 2011, Ms. Singh launched her own brand SINI (which is a short form of her name) in Birmingham, UK. SINI has now evolved as a leading brand in garments and fashion accessories. It is innovative, traditional and contemporary, and at the same time, affordable and appealing to everyone. The brand’s products are inspired by multi-faceted hues of rich global trends and its scintillating work adds a dash of panache to one’s personality.

mark among already established names, as many international brands were already doling out products that are inspired from Indian culture.
How SINI DESIGNS Builds Trustful Relations With Customers
Trust has always been an important factor for the consumer to feel confident in their purchases, and in the digital age, its importance has further increased. The misleading nature of advertisements makes it hard for the customers to figure out what’s real and what isn’t. Profit-driven strategies, poor impression, lack of personal and emotional connect with costumers and failures in sympathizing with their struggles has created numerous doubts in their minds. The Three Commandments – Quality, Reasonable Price, and Timely Delivery have been at the core of the brand’s business ethics. Under personal care by Ms. Singh, in all the works of different departments including the selection of raw materials, design and creation process, quality control, as well as employing all the modern techniques, has helped the brand create a partnership of mutual trust with the consumer. Over a period of time, this has evolved into a symbiotic relationship which is beneficial to both. The brand has also constantly strived to understand the requirements, psychology, and expectations of the consumer and convert them into reality. While SINI has acquired numerous positive reviews, testimonials, recommendations and awards/recognitions at the national and international levels, Ms. Singh considers them to be merely an icing on the cake. She feels that her true success lies in the heartfelt satisfaction of her customers.
SINI DESIGNS’ Ingenious Marketing Strategy
The brand has showcased in international exhibitions, fashion shows, retail shows in more than 15 countries to expand its brand visibility. In India, it has participated in the international exhibitions organized by different councils and business forums in different cities. These platforms provide the opportunity to have one-to-one interactions with buyers, address their concerns and apprehensions and develop an understanding for holistic business associations. During the coronavirus pandemic, Ms. Singh has used email marketing to show her new product range to business associates who could not physically connect with the brand. On the social media front, she has been using networks like Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, YouTube, and Instagram as well as search engines like Google and Yahoo to enhance the brand’s outreach.
How SINI DESIGNS Caters To The Diverse Needs Of Its Customers
The brand takes an initiative to read the mind of the consumer and convert their mental images into reality. It also ensures that the delivery of its products is done with punctuality, quality, and competitive pricing. Its uniqueness lies in its knowledge of art, culture, nature, and their fusion with contemporary trends in fashion. All its products are infused with zeal, enthusiasm and creativity. SINI DESIGNS is a bold statement of one’s individuality and the reflection of the feelings and expression of beauty- both internal and external. The brand also takes care of seasonal trends and preferences of people from different countries by producing different collections that vary across a broad spectrum of colours, fabrics, and patterns.
The Parameters Used By The Brand To Evaluate Customers’ Trust
SINI believes that the most important parameter to judge the trust of consumers is how much they get associated with the brand. Over the years, the brand’s business with overseas buyers has increased and they’ve become more like family members than business associates. On domestic E-commerce platforms, the brand has loyal customers across the country who have not only repeated their purchases but also endorsed them to others. Their positive reviews of the garments and fashion accessories on social platforms have also been a major game-changer.

On one hand, it had struggle, endurance, perseverance, and a commitment with self-driven goals to build capacities and empowering women with financial independence. On the other hand, it brought lots of awards, applauds, recognitions, and a sense of self-fulfilment. Naveen Tewari Founder of InMobi
If you are a publisher, you can directly connect with a network like InMobi, and don’t worry about the sale of inventory. InMobi’s amazing ad network automatically identifies the best possible ad (with the highest possibility of getting clicked and converted) for an ad request and sends it back to the user via your property with an ad slot placed on it.

nMobi is the first Mobile-only company headquartered and founded in India. The startup boasts of being the largest ad tech company after Google and Facebook. They primarily deal with placing advertisements on mobile devices. Credit for founding this startup goes to four passionate people namely Naveen Tewari, AbhaySinghal, Amit Gupta, and MohitSaxena. They worked and conceptualized the idea against all odds.
You can rest assured that your inventory from across the world, will get monetized without you having to worry about the complexity surrounding your sales. You only focus on your core business (creating content/writing more apps / bringing in more users for your app etc.). While as an advertiser, your ad will reach the target audience (for instance, If you want your game to be advertised to users in India on Airtel 3G network and accessing the web using an iPhone 5S) without any extra effort from your end. Provided that InMobi solves this pain for the publishers and the advertisers, they command a certain revenue cut. That’s how they make money.
A Glimpse of the startup journey – InMobi
InMobi was founded in Mumbai in 2007 as mKhoj, an SMS-based search, and monetization platform. The company’s founder is among the best and brightest but isn’t scared off by entrepreneurial bootstrapping. Manish Tewari graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from the prestigious IIT Kanpur in 2000.
About the founder
While doing his MBA at Harvard, he did a stint in Boston with Charles River Ventures and after graduating, spent a year working with colleagues, in Silicon Valley, on business ideas that ultimately failed. In mid-2006, while on a month-long vacation to India, he started to work on his business plan for SMS mobile search, and persuaded angel investors Sasha Mirchandani and Prashant Choksey to back him.
Manish Tewari, founder, and CEO of InMobi completed his Mechanical Engineering from IIT-Kanpur and an MBA from Harvard. He was a business analyst at McKinsey for a few years before co-founding mKhoj. Naveen has personally invested in and supported several startups including NestAway, Slide Rule, Metti, Moneysights, Bombay Canteen, Zimmber, and Razorpay. He cofounded iSPIRT, a software product advocacy group. He founded the India School Fund, a non-profit organization, which funds and sets up schools in rural India.
When that initial concept did not work out, Tewari shifted his business model to his next idea: a mobile advertising network. In 2008, he and his co-founders had 12 credit cards maxed out, then got a lucky break when InMobi raised a VC funding of $7 million from two savvy investors, AjitNazre of Kleiner Perkins and technology industry insider Ram Shriram through his global investment firm, Sherpalo Ventures.
He has some tips for young entrepreneurs. As an entrepreneur, one might as well go for something big, because the chances of success going after a small thing versus a big thing are pretty much the same. Secondly, surround yourself with great people and make sure they stay with you. Third, take the risks; if you do not take the risks, you are not going to get to a meaningful place.
Both joined his board. The major task turned to staff up suitable

CEO’s mandatory efforts for empowering next generation of start-ups
P
offering outplacement services, yet with the job market in freefall, we need to offer alternative options for people, one in which they can create their future by building a startup. This process is tried and tested. Nokia was faced with making over 40,000 job cuts a decade ago. It opened centers in Europe, India and the US to help those faced with redundancy to find a new job, either in the company or outside of it. It had also formed an entrepreneurial stream for employees and named it ‘Bridge’. Ever since it has been formed, Bridge has helped over 1000 startups get their beginning. The bridge scheme is credited for fuelling the rise of the Finnish tech ecosystem, which includes success stories like Supercell and Rovio. The current economic climate is not propitious for startup success and this has kept many CEOs worried. However, they couldn’t be more wrong. When you look back across history, you will find several large companies that have started during times of economic downturns and that’s not a coincidence. Look at the recent examples of Uber and Airbnb. These startups are not the only ones – companies like Microsoft, Disney, and IBM were all founded during deep recessions. It is just because times of rapid disruption provide ample opportunities for startups to take advantage. COVID-19 has presented a perfect
ost COVID-19 pandemic, this world needs startup more than ever for their innovative solutions to pervasive problems, both big and small. But to make sure that this generation, and future generations, of new startups, have what it takes to take up major issues, the world also needs CEOs who can enable the next generation of startups. During these times of global crisis, CEOs are focused on two things – cash flow and runway. Due to some catalytic events such as Covid-19, years of activity is condensed into weeks. Hence, the CEOs across the world need to make time-critical decisions that will make the difference between the company thriving or surviving, all under an incredible intense timeline. It has been estimated by International Labour Organization (ILO) that nearly 400 million full-time jobs have been lost in the world in the year’s second quarter (April-June 2020) due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The labor organization has also pointed out that job losses in Africa were much more than its earlier estimates, while many more working hours were lost in Asia than earlier predictions. Many companies are implementing cost-cutting measures, including redundancy, due to the pressures of COVID-19. We can see that world over, companies are looking to ease the transition of departing talent by

opportunity and is reshaping every industry, which lowers barriers to entry and provides huge opportunities for startups to tackle new consumer demands.
• Building Partnership: If you are investing in startups you need to make sure that the program is supported with a partnership that will provide the best experience for your people to maximize success. Purchasing a course of Udemy or having an hour’s discussion with a startup coach from an outplacement firm isn’t going to move the needle. Entrepreneurs wanting to build new startups need access to the right training, coaching, and mentoring to develop the right skillset and mindset as well as being given the right kind of introductions to early-stage VCs and Angel investors. • Communicate: This is a prominent strategy and can be used to attract new talent, build stronger relations with the communities and customers. Therefore, you need to have a communication plan to share the impact of this scheme with key internal and external stakeholders, showing that you believe in your employees when they leave the organization just as much as you did when they joined. • Objective: Remember, this is not about unicorn building, but empowering your people to create their future. In the case of the Nokia program, a third was focused on building high-growth startups but two-thirds used it to launch their freelance career or pivot into a new industry altogether. Many People think that timing is the most important factor in success, and whilst that might feel counterintuitive right now, COVID-19 is providing the perfect timing. Global CEOs have the opportunity to play a leading role in reshaping this future, not only through the people the company retains but also in the people it has to let go.
There are several key factors which can help CEOs to pioneer the alternative options to make this a success: • Collaboration within the company: The best startups are those founded with teams that have complementary skill sets – but in a corporate environment the chances are people who work in tech development don’t know sales colleagues, etc. because they work, for example, in different locations. Thus, you need to create a space where employees can meet, make connections, and potentially form teams around common problems they want to solve. During COVID-19, this can be done virtually. However, the key is just to ensure that people correctly identify their skill set and areas of interest. • Involvement with your staffers: You need to be clear on the degree of your involvement – are you prepared to offer access to unused IP, assets or data, or are you just presenting the opportunity to develop the skills and mindset for ex-staff to create a startup, or are you willing to invest in ideas that could help solve your challenges? In the case of Nokia, the company had allocated a fund, and its program enabled ex-staff to pitch for seed capital of €25,000, with up to four exemployees being able to combine to access a potential pool of €100,000. The company, however, needs to build a system for clear governance and measurement, but it also means that the corporate can reap the reward for startup successes.

Sushma Group: Navigating the current market for a realestate purchase loans are currently in their best interest rate possible. RBI has cut the repo rate by 40 bps in the wake of the ongoing crisis; this directly affects the lending interest rates of banks. Repo rate currently stands at 4% as compared to 6.25% in 2018, and close to 5.75% in June 2019. SBI, the largest lender of India is providing home loans at just 6.95% interest rate. The fencesitters who were planning to purchase a home can also utilize this opportunity. Developers with a track record of good quality deliveries will be the best bet in these times. Many of them are open to offering deferment payment plans only up to a definite period, looking at the current market condition.
Prateek Mittal, Executive Director, Sushma Group
In a recent consumer sentiment survey conducted by 99acres two out of every third homebuyer is now back in the real estate market. A first-time buyer can choose between banks and housing finance companies for taking loans after considering the terms, procedures, and policies. HFCs don’t have to necessarily follow the repo rate linked lending rate (RLLR) mechanism; they set their rates based on the cost of funds. Buyers looking to purchase property as early as possible for availing some of the benefits and payment deferment offered by developers must consider private banks and HFCs to be the wiser option. The process of sanctioning and disbursing of loans is easier and quicker there when compared to public sector banks. Even though public sector banks offer cheapest interest rates for home loans, but the reduced repo rate cut has significantly lowered the interest rates in private banks as well.
Buying a home or living on rent has always been a crucial choice for many. Each option comes with its own set of pros and cons depending majorly on the financial health of the homebuyer and the property units available. While the popular thought remains rental homes being the cost-effective choice when compared to purchasing a home, a rational individual must assess the whole process before settling on a rental agreement that comes with certain appreciation annually or half-yearly.
Eligibility to home loan also comes with certain tax benefits, in these times of uncertainty owning an asset that holds the potential of yielding better returns in future comes across as an ideal financial benefit. Thus, it is time you achieve freedom from your monthly rentals, and start putting a share of your income in an asset that will have higher capital value as time passes by.
Tenants, who wanted to upgrade their living conditions before lockdown, can think of buying a property instead of shifting to another rented accommodation. This is an ideal time as home 38

Another challenge faced by Ethna Attributes was “paralysis by analysis”. According to Mr. Srinivasan, too much thinking can cause inaction and indecisiveness. He has now stopped planning in great detail and has learnt to pivot at hard times. On the topic of time management, he believes we all have plenty of time in our hands each day. We’re either investing it or wasting it! Last but not the least, Mr. Srinivasan feels that the biggest challenge faced by any company is finding the right people. Even today, he finds it to be a constant struggle.
As the IT Sector grows more competitive and cost-sensitive, the company offers a collection of research services for clients with an outcome-based pricing model. It has also started a unique Work Integrated Training Program and is running it since last year. Mr. Srinivasan plans to head this division so that the company take 200 IT aspirants into the organization in one year. Not only will this endow them with great personal satisfaction but also transform their lives at a lightning-fast pace.
Mr. Srinivasan’s Inspiring Entrepreneurship Journey
What Makes Ethna Attributes Stand Out In The Market?
Over the years, Mr. Srinivasan has seen the internet transform the economics of marketing. It has made many traditional marketing strategies and structures obsolete. With this change in industry dynamics, Mr. Srinavasan believes that the old ways of marketing are unsustainable; the focus should be shifted to providing positive outcome. In his 9 years of business, he has come to realize the significance of the quote “Entrepreneurship is a journey, not a destination”. After facing the numerous hurdles along the way, he feels that entrepreneurship has taught him some invaluable life lessons. One of them is the lack of certainty in pursuing our dreams. In spite of working super hard, there are chances that you might never achieve your dream. Instead of being deterred by the uncertainty, he views it as a stimulus to get up daily and work hard at making his vision a reality. The constant challenges help him derive a sense of joy and thrill from the process.
Ethna Attributes is the only organization in India to which the research is outsourced from the clients. In this regard, the brand is unique and has no competition in the market. Ethna Attributes is also the only organization that not just monetizes its experience and knowledge but also absorbs all the trainees into the organization as full-time employees. Having an outcome-based business model, the company’s clients genuinely like their services. It never needs to follow up for any payments. It strongly believes in the value of conjoint efforts with the clients. On the marketing front, Ethna Attributes is renowned for its Outwork Integrated Training Programs. It makes use of various media channels to expand its market reach. The Major Reason Clients Distrust Data Companies Due to high pricing and lack of proper partnerships, clients have a tendency to doubt the authenticity of data companies. To resolve such trust issues, Ethna Attributes is very upfront with its clients regarding their outcomes and adopts an outcome-based business model. It only charges for the outcome, not for the effort. Most of the company’s clients come through past references or word-of-mouth. It prides itself in staying true to the motto “Let our work speak for itself ”. Mr. Srinivasan believes that when you make a lasting impression on a customer, their loyalty usually follows. According to him, loyalty is a virtue that can’t be bought – it has to be earned. He gives great importance to adopting a customer-centric approach and going the “extra mile” to render quality service. Consequently, the customers pay him with their loyalty and one can observe the trust they have in his brand.
Mr. Srinivasan’s Advice For Young Entrepreneurs
Placing great value on one’s subjective experience, Mr. Srinivasan advises young entrepreneurs to take any business advice with a pinch of salt. He says, “I’ve been interviewed to share my business advice with you— you all have your own unique journey to building a successful business. They’re all different. Some come from backgrounds of wealth and influential connections—while others have built empires starting from scratch. Don’t take the business advice you hear as gospel to be followed in entirety, Rather, use it as a tool. Try to always shrink your time and have timely goals to pivot.” Ethna Attributes is a brand that strongly believes in providing value to its clients. In an age of mistrust where fraudulent activities have become increasingly common, the company believes in being upfront with its clients. To ensure this, the company has an outcome-based business model, so that clients have a clear idea on what to expect. Moreover, the company aims at leaving a lasting impression on its clients through providing memorable services.
Ethna Attributes’ Plans For The Coming Years
In 2020, the company is looking to work without a large office space. While it used to be in a 18000 SQFT Space, it has future plans of working from several small offices. Ethna attributes also plans of increasing its employee strength to 200 and introduce a vertical in agriculture, providing Hydroponics solutions to the farming community.
