Local Rules for the PACC
The Rules of the United Stated Golf Association govern play. In addition to the USGA rules of golf, the following Local Rules are in effect:
1. OUT OF BOUNDS | In addition to white stakes, lines and boundary fences, the inside edges of the following roads define out of bounds: holes #4 to the left of the green, #6 behind the green, #11 behind the green, #12 to the right of the hole; #14 left of the fairway and #16 behind the green. The maintenance area between holes 6 & 7 is out of bounds, defined by the fence. The ground left of the penalty area on hole 17 is out of bounds.
2. ELEVATED POWER LINES | A ball striking an elevated power line crossing a hole MUST be replayed without penalty. (This most often occurs on holes 8, 9 and the second shot on hole 12).
3. HOLE #3 – DROPPING ZONE | As an additional option to Rule 17.1, a player may use the drop zone short and left of the putting green for a ball that last crossed the penalty area between the blue stakes at the greenside bunker. The player may also take relief under Rule 17.1, dropping in the bunker or playing under stroke and distance.

Until next time, keep the questions coming! -The Mighty Rules Gurus
The Golden Rules wants to thank Allice Striffler for providing some questions in this edition. Alice recently received her free sleeve of golf balls at the golf shop! BE LIKE ALICE.
4. HOLE # 4 – DROPPING ZONE | As an additional option to Rule 17.1 covering penalty areas, a player may use the dropping zone for any ball coming to rest in the penalty area. The player may also play under stroke and distance or use the two club length option from where the ball last crossed the line.
5. FANS | Fans are “temporary immovable obstructions.” Relief is allowed for stance, swing and for line of play if the fan is between the ball and the hole.
6. DITCHES and FENCES – HOLES #2, #9, #12 and #15 | The area between the fences, including the fences, the ditches and roads are one obstruction. Free relief not nearer to the hole under Rule 16.1.
7. ROADS CROSSING HOLES | A ball which crosses a public road defined as out of bounds and comes to rest on a different part of the course beyond that road is out of bounds (most likely to occur on hole 4)
8. HOLE #17 | For play from the white, yellow and red tees the penalty area is to be played as a red penalty area.
9. THE DRIVING RANGE NET AND POSTS | Are an obstruction. Free relief under Rule 16.1 for swing, stance and lie. No relief for line of play.
10. CART PATHS | Cart paths covered by sand are ”the general area;” no free relief.
11. OBSTRUCTIONS, HOLES 3, 10 & 14 | The restroom areas on holes 3 & 14 and halfway house on hole 10: These structures including fences, paved areas and cart paths are deemed to be a single obstruction. Free relief under rule 16.1 (nearest point, no closer to the hole plus one club length).
12. ALTERNATIVE TO STROKE AND DISTANCE FOR A LOST BALL OR BALL OUT OF BOUNDS | For two penalty strokes the player may drop a ball two club lengths into the fairway, at a point closest to where the ball was lost or out of bounds, but not closer to the hole. Local Rule E-5.

Course Care
–Jordan Spitler, Director of Golf Course Maintenance and Club GroundsREPAIRING YOUR BALL MARK
Repairing ball marks is something we should always do. Unfortunately, maintenance staffs often spend significant time fixing unrepaired ball marks each year, so they don’t negatively affect the ball roll. The proper way to fix a ball mark can be viewed on the Princess Anne Country Club Facebook or Instagram. Here are some dos and don'ts for fixing your ball mark. Do: Restore surface smoothness by gently pushing from the side inward.
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/230503182552-cb5c37cb0dfb7636e2b88a0c44915f4a/v1/74cafe47397e9e714d32a3c141b5dd62.jpeg)
Don’t: Aggressively twist or lift.
RAKING THE BUNKERS
The most important rule for maintaining our bunkers is….participation. When raking, please be sure to try and leave the bunker the same way you entered it. Here’s a quote from the rules of golf from their etiquette section. “The overriding principle is that consideration should always be shown to others on the course.” This embodies why we rake bunkers behind our shot so that the next person has just as good as the lie as you had.
FIXING YOUR DIVOT
Taking a divot is a normal part of any round of golf. Repairing your divot should also be a routine part of the game. Taking the time to repair your divots properly can significantly impact how a course plays. When filling your divot, don’t forget to smooth it over with your foot. It will keep our mower blades sharper for longer.
PUSH CART ETIQUETTE
At PACC, a large portion of our Membership uses push carts to navigate the course. We love that. It helps take stress off of our golf course that would be applied if you were riding a cart. That said, we still need to be on the lookout for things when operating a pushcart. Here are the most important things to remember next time you take to the golf course with a push cart.
• Pushcarts should be 10 -30 feet away from the edge of any green or tee box
• Pushcarts should be directed around greenside bunkers and should never be taken in the narrow gap between the green and surrounding bunkers
• Pushcarts should never be taken across excessively wet areas
How to Repair a Ball Mark
A few extra seconds is all it takes to keep the putting greens looking and playing their best.

Weekend Tee Time Update
2023 TEE TIME POLICY
We will continue to utilize our in-season tee time policy in 2023. While we rolled out our new weekend tee time guidelines last April, the following will not be in effect until May 1, 2023, and will remain in effect until September 10th. Weekend blitz times will be available during that same time frame.
• Tee times can be made by the golf supplement holder eight days in advance at 4 pm. Non-supplement holders may make a tee time six days in advance at 4 pm.
• Tee times between 8 am -11 am on Saturdays and Sundays must be a threesome or foursome. A Starter will monitor this on the first tee.
• No Member can own more than one tee time in a day.
• Unaccompanied guest play will be limited to two tee times daily and after 11:30 am. This includes Membersponsored guest cards and Members from visiting clubs. Unaccompanied guest tee times may only be made three days in advance.
• One Member may make no more than two consecutive tee times.
Weekend Blitz
As mentioned, the Weekend Blitz will start on Saturday, May 6th. The Blitz is designed for the single player who doesn’t have a group, is looking to meet new people, or cannot reserve time as a single player. Weekend Blitzes will be held each Saturday and Sunday and is open to all adult golfers with a USGA handicap who wishes to sign up. You may only sign up individually, and pairing requests will not be granted. Blitz sign-ups will be located under the ‘Events” tab in ForeTees with each week having its own individual sign-up. Sign up for the blitz at 4 pm, eight days in advance. Pairings and tee times will be made by the golf operations team and sent out at 5 pm the day before the Blitz. Blitz tee times will be 10:30, 10:40 and 10:50 am. There will be a weekly game with a $10 per-person cash entry.

IMPORTANCE OF SPLIT STEP
As a tennis player and a tennis pro, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of split step in tennis. This fundamental technique is critical to any player looking to improve their game and take their performance to the next level.
The split step is a simple, yet essential, technique that involves slight jumping up and down just before your opponent makes contact with the ball. To be more specific, the moment your opponent makes contact point with the ball is the exact same time your feet are supposed to land back on the ground! This movement helps you to prepare for the shot and get into position to hit the ball more effectively. By mastering the split step, players can improve their reaction time, movement and balance on the court.
This technique allows players to be in the best position possible to hit the ball and reduces the risk of injury, as it can help to prevent sudden movements and awkward landings.
Additionally, the split step is an essential part of a player's defensive game. When playing defense, it can be difficult to predict where the ball will go, and the split step can help players react quickly and get into position to make a play. Whether it's returning a serve or chasing down a lob, the split step is a critical technique that can make all the difference in your ability to get to the ball and return it in the most efficient way!
Another important aspect of the split step is timing. By executing the split step at precisely the right moment, players can improve their overall timing and hit the ball more accurately and powerfully. This technique can take time to master, but with practice, players can develop a natural rhythm and improve their overall consistency on the court.
In conclusion, the split step is an essential technique for any tennis player looking to improve their game. By incorporating this simple movement into your training and matches, you can become more agile, prepared and efficient on the court. Whether you're playing offense or defense, the split step is a critical aspect of your game that can make all the difference in your ability to perform at your best.
Next time you have a lesson, ask your coach how split step can help your game and the best way for you to practice it!
Tennis Talk
If this past spring season was any indication of what our summer will hold in terms of participation, it looks to be a full house! We produced a first-ever 20 new USTA players entering the spring league at the 2.5 level, which gave us two teams! We also had full teams at levels 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0. The highlight of our summer will be the 3rd Annual PACC Summer Open Doubles Tournament, which promises to draw the best international players. The event will be held July 14-16.
It's great to see the growth and success of tennis at PACC, especially with the emergence of new players and the expansion of teams across different levels. The upcoming PACC Summer Open Doubles Tournament is an exciting event that will showcase some top-notch tennis talent. It's a result of the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in organizing and promoting tennis at PACC.

WILSON PRO STAFF AND PRO STAFF X
For years, the Wilson Pro Staff has been one of the most popular tennis racquets on the market. It has been used by some of the greatest players in the sport, including Roger Federer and Pete Sampras. Now, Wilson has taken the Pro Staff to a whole new level with the introduction of the Pro Staff and Pro Staff X.
The Pro Staff is a classic racquet that has been updated with new technology to improve performance on the court. It features a thinner beam and smaller head size, which provides players with increased precision and control. The racquet also includes Wilson's new Braid 45 technology, which enhances ball pocketing and control.
The Pro Staff X, on the other hand, is a new addition to the Wilson lineup. It is a more modern take on the Pro Staff, with a larger head size and thicker beam. This design provides players with more power and a larger sweet spot, making it easier to hit the ball with consistency. The Pro Staff X also features Wilson's new Power Profile Frame technology, which adds stability and enhances the racquet's power.
Both the Pro Staff and Pro Staff X are designed with Wilson's Countervail technology, which helps to reduce vibrations and improve comfort during play. This makes them a great option for players who want to stay comfortable on the court, even during long matches.
In addition to the new racquets, Wilson has also introduced a range of accessories and bags to complement the Pro Staff and Pro Staff X. These products are designed to provide players with everything they need to succeed on the court.
Whether you prefer the classic look and feel of the Pro Staff or the modern design of the Pro Staff X, these new racquets from Wilson are sure to impress. So why not head down to your local pro shop and check them out for yourself? Who knows, you may just find your new favorite racquet.
Air Fryer Pistachio-Crusted Salmon
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/230503182552-cb5c37cb0dfb7636e2b88a0c44915f4a/v1/a6a349bbfeca11a14e62ede53137d047.jpeg)
SERVES: 2
TIME: 30 minutes
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS
Roasted at 400 degrees, salmon fillets cook up tender and moist in just 8 to 10 minutes. Setting them on a foil sling prevents them from breaking as you lift them out of the fryer. Tangy Greek yogurt spread over the fillets glues on a coating of chopped pistachios, fennel seeds, panko and parsley; placing it on just the top ensures that it wouldn't get soggy. Lightly spray the topping to help the coating brown.
INGREDIENTS
• 2 tablespoons finely chopped toasted pistachios or almonds
• 2 tablespoons panko bread crumbs
• 2 tablespoons minced, fresh parsley
• ½ teaspoon fennel seeds, chopped
2 (4- to 6-ounce) skin-on salmon fillets, 1 to 1½ inches thick
• ¼ teaspoon table salt
• 4 teaspoons plain
• Greek yogurt
• Olive oil spray
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
If your fryer basket has room for additional fillets, you can double this recipe.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Make sling for air-fryer basket by folding one long sheet of aluminum foil so it is four inches wide. Lay sheet of foil width wise across basket, pressing foil into and up sides of basket. Fold excess foil as needed so edges of foil are flush with top of basket.
2. Combine pistachios, panko, parsley, and fennel seeds in shallow dish. Pat salmon dry with paper towels and sprinkle with salt. Spread yogurt evenly on flesh side of salmon, then dredge coated side in pistachio mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
3. Arrange fillets skin side down on prepared sling, spaced evenly apart, and lightly spray tops with oil spray. Place basket into air fryer and set temperature to 400 degrees. Cook until coating is lightly browned and center of salmon is still translucent when checked with tip of paring knife and registers 125 degrees (for medium-rare), 8 to 10 minutes.
4. Using sling, carefully remove salmon from air fryer. Slide fish spatula along underside of fillets and transfer to plate, leaving skin behind. Serve.
