rinceton Academy of the Sacred Heart is an independent school for boys in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Our mission is to develop young men with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs. We educate and develop the whole boy in mind, body and spirit.

Five Goals of the Sacred Heart Goal I A personal and active faith in God Goal II A deep respect for intellectual values Goal III A social awareness which impels to action Goal IV The building of community as a Christian value Goal V Personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom

Letter from the Headmaster and Board Chair Dear Princeton Academy Community, This year we are excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding of Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart in connection with the 200th anniversary of Sacred Heart education in the United States of America and Canada. Twenty years ago, our Founders came together to forge a mission that is more relevant today than ever. Today, as a K-8, independent school for boys guided by the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria, Princeton Academy is a thought leader in boys education. As we enter Year 2 of our strategic plan, Epic Vision, Princeton Academy is innovating new ways to develop creative, compassionate and courageous young men to be leaders of a just society... and is Soaring with Heart into the future. So much of our school’s success has been the result of charitable giving. Through generous donations from families and friends who have believed in and supported this school since its founding, we have been able to bring out the best in boys for 20 years. In the spirit of our Friday Thank Yous, gratitude is the most important response we can convey for this achievement. Thank you, Princeton Academy community. We are grateful for the commitment and dedication you show to our school and for making Princeton Academy one of your top philanthropic priorities. Donations to all initiatives broke records and proved yet again how strong we are when we come together as a community. We are pleased to announce that this year’s Fund for Princeton Academy raised a record number of dollars and achieved record participation rates among all constituencies. The Fund went to support signature programming for our boys, professional development, financial aid and all that makes the Princeton Academy experience so special. Every gift makes a major difference in our effort to bring out the best in boys, and we are especially grateful to our parents who achieved record-high participation this year. We are also inspired by our faculty and staff who believe in our school so much that they supported The Fund with 100 percent participation for the third year in a row. In the pages that follow you will see how all members of our Princeton Academy community have joined together on behalf of our young men. This 2018–19 school year will be one of dynamism and splendor as we reflect on our past, celebrate our present and soar ever higher into the future. We are incredibly grateful for your support of Princeton Academy and for your overwhelming generosity. Princeton Academy is a family made up of families and will always be a home for our young men. Thank you for all that you do to make this true. Go Hawks!

Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart

The Frith family steps forward to help Princeton Academy fulfill one of its funding opportunities through the strategic plan, Epic Vision: Soaring with Heart Recognizing that the educators of Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart are our most important asset in the classroom, the Frith family very generously founded and funded the Frith Family Fund for Professional Development. Revenue from this Fund will almost double the budget that provides faculty and staff at Princeton Academy with the opportunities to pursue ongoing educational opportunities in their area of interest. Nikki and Brint Frith, parents of Sam Iacavazzi ’14, Gavin ’21 and Patrick ’23 want all of the students at Princeton Academy to have a rich and robust experience in the classroom every day. Brint said that he knows that “this gift will have an immediate and lasting impact on our students. It will also help with faculty retention, something that is crucial to the life of the school.” This gift provides funding for the school’s strategic plan, Epic Vision: Soaring with Heart, Pillar One - Excellence in Teaching and Learning. If you are interested in adding to the Frith Family Fund for Professional Development or funding another strategic plan initiative, please contact Director of Development Brooke Gadasi at bgadasi@princetonacademy.org.

Callery Library Dedication On June 1, 2018, over 100 members of the Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart community came together in recognition of Mary and Jim Callery’s 60th wedding anniversary. In honor of this momentous occasion and for all that they do for Princeton Academy, the school officially dedicated the Callery Library in Kalkus House in honor of their generosity and devotion to each other, to faith and to Princeton Academy. At the forefront of much of Mary and Jim’s lives is their commitment to education – especially their desire to instill a love of learning, in particular, reading, thus making the dedication of the library a fitting tribute. Many have been touched by both Mary and Jim’s care and generosity. In particular, they have long been supporters of Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart. As founding grandparents, they have seen firsthand the impact of a Sacred Heart education on their own grandchildren, Ben '09, James '10 and Michael Woodley '16, as well as its impact on countless other young men of honor and faith. With their love for each other and the school at the center of all they do, the Callery’s asked that any gifts in their honor be given instead as a donation to Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart’s Financial Assistance Fund. The Fund provides support and increases access for boys so that they may receive the same values-based education as the Callery grandchildren. The following is a list of those who gave a donation in recognition of Mary and Jim Callery: Anonymous Benson Henderson Enterprises Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brennan Sean Duffy and Anita McGlynn Mary Fitzpatrick Dr. and Mrs. Jorge Guerrero Mr. and Mrs. Neil Grice Mrs. Margaret Henderson Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Neubert Fidelma and Bill Woodley

Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart

Acorn Legacy Society The Acorn Legacy Society was organized to honor the individuals and families who have chosen to include Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart in their estate plans. Members of the Acorn Legacy Society have expressed the highest form of charitable support for the school’s mission. The Acorn Legacy Society takes its name from the beauty of our campus and from the nature of our mission. The symbol of the Society comes from the bas-relief of an oak tree directly over the Kalkus House entrance. At the foot of the oak tree are acorns, the small seeds that over many years grow into solid oaks when they find the fertile ground. At Princeton Academy, the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria provide a rich soil that continues to yield “young men who, when faced with the challenges of their times, will make the right decisions.” If you are interested in including Princeton Academy in your estate plans, please visit our website at www.princetonacademy.org/giving.

Headmaster's Birthday Giving Day Princeton Academy is grateful to everyone who gave a gift to the school on Headmaster Rik Dugan's birthday! This year we asked Mr. Dugan what he wanted for his birthday. He responded, "All I wish for is 100 percent participation in the Annual Fund!" The Princeton Academy community heard Mr. Dugan’s wish and together with friends, families, alumni and trustees they gave in excess of $20,000 in honor of his special day. Mr. Dugan explained why his birthday wish was to have 100 percent participation in the Annual Fund, "because gifts to the Fund directly benefit our boys and because 100 percent giving is a sign of community strength There's No Place Like PASH! Following the success of the Headmaster's Birthday Giving Day, Mr. Dugan responded, "...of all my birthdays, this year's will stand out to me in a most memorable and remarkable way… And I have YOU to thank. It is true when asked what I wanted for my birthday this year, I did reply, '100 percent participation in the Fund for Princeton Academy.' The reason for this is simple - the Fund benefits our boys, your sons, directly - and that is the greatest gift of all."
