L ATE 80’S SNOWBOARDS Freeriding in the Coast Mountains through the late 80’s inspired Chris Prior to start Prior Snowboard Manufacturing. Alpine racing through the 90’s pushed him to refine manufacturing techniques to meet the performance demands of World Cup winning athletes. An undying passion for fresh turns has fueled the creative shapes of Prior’s renowned powder line.
2002 SKIS Chris Prior focused his knowledge of snowboard manufacturing on the demands of Whistler’s high performance freeride skiers. In the winter of 2003/2004 the Original ski model was released. Since then 10 models have been developed with award winning response from testers and customers alike. Through feedback from professional backcountry guides, to local resort rippers and our dedicated employees, Prior has developed a ski line that stands up to the most rigorous tests.
1997 SPLITBOARDS Chris Prior cut an MFR in half and attached Voile hardware to it at the persistence of a dedicated local Prior rider. Since then Chris has focused on blurring the distinction in performance between Prior’s splitboards and solid boards, and in the process he has developed a reputation for manufacturing the most advanced splitboards available. Prior is also home to the largest fleet of splitboards in the market, guaranteeing we have a splitboard for any rider wanting to venture into the backcountry.

TRI GLASS Our 21oz. triaxial weave glass is a stitched fabric with glass fibers running in three directions +45, -45, and 0 degrees; it also has 10 carbon stringers running lengthwise through the fabric and the board. The triaxial material is layered on each side of a vertically laminated aspen woodcore combined with UHMW sidewalls, sintered base and nylon topsheets. This glass/carbon configuration adds extra pop, weight savings, responsiveness and stability.

With a narrow waist and softer flex than the MFR, the Brandywine allows women to drive the board harder and maximize energy transfer for the best performance possible. The tip and tail rocker increases both float and turn initiation while the traditional camber maintains edge grip, stability and rebound performance. The Thruster & Legacy are the newest additions to the Prior fleet. The shorter than average length and unconventional shape gives this board exceptional speed and float. Taking design cues from our ever popular powder line up as well as the evolution of surf designs. This short and nimble board allows you to charge tight lines, aggressively carve open faces or rip through the trees thanks to its wider waist width and significant side cut. The Slasher takes inspiration from its bigger brothers the Powstick and Fissile. A short radius, longer pow nose and small swallowtail primes this board to slay all terrain from top to bottom, in true Whistler fashion. It allows for tight carves, stays on top with ease and will even rail on groomers.

The BC Split is a classic example of a true, all mountain shape that maintains it’s role in our line as the workhorse of the fleet. The directional Freeride The Hybrid Rocker Profile adds to its versatility; rocker in the nose and tail for turn initiation and float while maintaining traditional camber underfoot for added stability, rebound and edge hold.

With a more narrow waist and softer flex than the BC Split, the Brandy wine Split allows women to drive the board harder and maximize engergy transfer through turns. The tip and tail rocker increases both float and turn initiation while the underfoot camber maintains edge hold, stability and rebound. With minimal taper, the Brandywine Split provides both power and drive on edge while allowing the playful rider to land or ride switch. Pg. 69

The true twin design provides versatility, predictability and pop both inbounds and out. Proudly dubbed the Wildcard; due its ability to excel in a variety of terrain. Whether it is hitting your first backcountry booter or stomping your favourite pillow line, the Wildcard Split does it all. The symmetrical shape provides maximum performance for ambidextrous riders; nose to tail, it’s the same board.

The Slaylok Split is our Women’s specific twin. Taking inspiration from our men’s line up, the Slaylok Split utilises a tighter turning radius, narrower waist and softer, more responsive freestyle flex to allow female riders to have a powerful board that is tailored for their smaller boot size. The symmetrical shape of the Slaylok provides maximum performance riding both regular or switch.

The Khyber Split has been the long running ride of choice amongst the Prior community on those deep, coastal days!
