GRADUATE COURSEWORK CONCLUSION Boarding House Based on Principles of Sustainability This research was born from the need for a commercial use to the “Sítio Colibri” (ranch) that had something to do with the city of Socorro where it is located. And it was something with a difference that could change the way people think and behave, about the way of life we have today, and how we can help the world in the missing of natural resources. So I chose to make a “Boarding House Based on Principles of Sustainability”, aiming to achieve the three levels of sustainability: economic, socio-cultural and environmental. I chose this theme by looking delve in the area of sustainable materials and technologies and also for being a project almost required in the chosen field, by the presence of 133,100 square meters of land area within the APP¹ area within the land with the passage of a river between this area and the another one without betterments, besides being a rural and remote area of the city, having a certain precariousness in the sewage and garbage disposal. So with the study on sustainable building low cost, which seeks to show the importance of making a building type from today; Both for the health of our environment and, as in achieving positive financial results, exploring the need for technologies to support self-project, getting generate through their own activities necessary to ensure the low cost of energy generated both to make the construction as for those who use the built environment.

GRADUATE COURSEWORK CONCLUSION Boarding House Based on Principles of Sustainability All buildings were designed to capture rainwater, green roof, capture of solar energy for electricity and water heating, among other easy alternatives, affordable and sustainable. The apartments have a wonderful view of the forest and its position thought of the position of the sun in all seasons. In addition, none of the construction disrupt the view of the nature of those who are coming through the main entrance. The apartments are simple and perfectly meet the needs of physically disabled people, as well as having standard options and for newlyweds with an apartment that comes with kitchen and mezzanine. All with structure above the earth, so that there was less use of machinery, thus being more natural and sustainable. The main house has an industrial kitchen, a restaurant, a local produce store, a waiting area with a bar and a deck overlooking the forest.

“Architecture constitutes the reality of experience while this reality gets in the way ofthe overall vision. Architecture constitutes the abstraction of absolute truth, while this very truth gets in the way of feeling. Bernard Tschumi
