EXPORTS TO THE UK
CHIA Eaten by the Aztecs and Incas, now chia seed are considered as the new super food. They are source of antioxidants, proteins, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and fibre. Ecuadorian chia seeds are mainly exported to the United States, Denmark, Australia and Canada. Its consumption helps to regulate the digestive system, improves energy levels and concentration, controls and prevents cholesterol, reduce body fat and rejuvenate the skin.

PAPAYA It´s the main exotic fruit exported to Europe. They are a rich source of antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid; and the minerals, potassium, copper, and magnesium; and fibre. Ecuadorian papaya is mainly exported to the UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Peru.
ROSES Ecuador is the second biggest exporter of roses in the world. The biggest rose production centers in Ecuador are located in places that reach 2000 meters above sea level. There, sunlight is more direct and the temperature is stable throughout the year. Ecuadorian roses are considered the best in the world due to their incomparable quality, beauty and unique characteristics: thick long stems, big buds, vivid colors and lengthy life in the vase after being cut.
PRAWNS Ecuador is the second largest exporter of frozen prawns in the world. In 2014, shrimp was the first Ecuadorian export after oil. Prawns present a very low content of fat and calories. It is very rich in components such as carotenes, beta-carotenes, omega 3 and pre vitamin A. Ecuadorian prawns are recognized as a gourmet product around the world due to its exquisite flavor, color and texture.

10 FRUIT PUREE Ecuador is the biggest exporter of banana puree of the world. Also, there are important manufacturers of IQF and aseptic passion fruit concentrate, conventional and organic mango puree and guava puree, between other fruit. Most manufacturers are Kosher, Organic, HACCP and GMP certified. The most important manufacturers offer FSSC 22000, BRC, ISO 9001, IRMA approved supplier, among others. Ecuador fruit puree industry is already supplying the important buyers like Nestle, Chiquita, Heinz, Gerber, Coca Cola, Parmalat, Krings, etc.

NEWS • PRO ECUADOR brought Ecuadorian cuisine to London at this year’s International Food and Drink Event (IFE) at the ExCel. • A complete menu of Ecuadorian dishes was showcased at ife’s ‘Taste of the World live’. David Reyes, an Ecuadorian chef with twelve years of experience working in London restaurants, showed visitors how to cook prawn and vegetarian-styles of Ceviche - an appetizer of fresh fish marinated in citrus juices; Sango de Verde - an Ecuadorian green plantain stew; and a dessert of Chocolate Mousse and Goldenberries served with Ecuadorian coffee, all of the ingredients for which were 100% Ecuadorian. • 10 Ecuadorian exporters exhibited their products at PRO ECUADOR stand. They offered a wide range of products, including varieties of prawns, tuna, grains, fruits, vegetables, plantain-based snacks, avocado oil, coffee, and chocolate. • Our Trade Commmisioner gave a lecture about the business opportunities in Ecuador at the Univesity of Edimburg.
