WELCOME I first want to thank our residents for supporting the recreation millage that passed in August. I also want to thank my staff and the Recreation and Festival Commissions for a successful season of programs and events. A special thank you goes out to many of our community groups, local business and volunteers for all your contributions, time and support. The mission of the Recreation Department is to serve the residents of Grosse Ile with new and exciting leisure activities and support services to keep our community growing strong! Grosse Ile Junior Running Club The Grosse Ile Jr. Running Club is open to all children who wish to improve their physical fitness through running. It focuses on teaching children eight important main life skills: focus, memory, teamwork, discipline, self-control, fitness, balance, and coordination. Color Belt Continuation Class Continuation of traditional martial arts training for those students who have achieved a color belt rank in the Kids Power Karate program. This program is designed for children ages 6 through 12 and teaches traditional Tang Soo Do techniques and self-defense at a rank appropriate level. Cardio Drumming is a fun energetic workout that combines dance, rhythm and drumming. Great for teens and adults of all ages. Van Transportation The Grosse Ile Recreation Department is pleased to provide transportation service for residents who are senior citizens, low income or disabled. This “essential errands” service is for those who do not own a vehicle or are unable to drive due to medical reasons. NOTE: Van service boundaries are East to West Jefferson, West to Allen Rd., North to Northline Rd., and South to Vreeland Rd.
