preface

The laboratory path held in Peccioli at the beginning of April, before stage of the Festivaldera, allowed the participants to put to point ten stories that have as protagonists characters temporary. Each of these stories tells a personal males-evenings. Every malaise needs healing. The novellas of the decameron, translated here in the form of a song, they are suffering today. So Boccaccio, even today, continues to keep us safe from the plague.

he stonemason husband goes out to work every morning, leaving his wife tired, lonely and penniless. No sooner does he depart than another arrives. This has been going on for some time now, and unknowing, everyone is happy, including the husband who believes his woman to be honest and pure. One day while she and her lover are doing what they do, her husband knocks; finding the door closed he shouts until she comes to open it. She’s hidden the other in a basket and tells her husband “go to work”, for without money they won’t be eating today or tomorrow either. This advice applies to every man: do not feel superior to the woman you call wife, and treat her like a sweet flower in love as in life. The woman who decides to deceive has more clever schemes than a man. Today, forever and at all times.

Here there’s no problem of money. For three coins he’s sold the basket that recently gave refuge to the lover. So his wife tells him the basket is already sold, for six coins, to a man who’s already been inside it; to keep an eye on him and seal the deal. This advice applies to every man: do not feel superior to the woman you call wife, and treat her like a sweet flower on love as in life. The woman who decides to deceive has more clever schemes than a man. Today, forever and at all times.

n this world there are people who cannot bear the sight and smell of all other humans, and women who always give their own judgements. And to them, nothing is ever right: the phrase of a passer-by, his way of walking down the street or of treating the woman at his side like a queen. One of these is a woman called Cesca, niece of a man named Fresco. One day she goes to visit him and starts telling him she’s never seen so many irritating, smelly and grotesque people. If it were up to her, such people would never set foot outside their homes. There’s one sure and certain way of never seeing irritating people, a way that resembles an old trick: never look at yourself in the mirror. The most annoying people in the world are those who are bored of people. For them, the oldest and simplest way is to never see themselves in the mirror.

1

Calm Fresco listens to his niece. Several times he tries to change the subject, but she insists, saying that people are worthless. Calm Fresco listens to his niece and stifles a scream, perhaps a slap: who does this woman think she is, saying nobody’s worth a fig? There’s one sure and certain way of never seeing irritating people, away that resembles an old trick: never look at yourself in the mirror. The most annoying people in the world are those who are bored of people. For them, the oldest and simplest way is to never see themselves in the mirror. She accepts willingly because she cannot walk any more but as soon as on his horse he begins his story how come no one should tell made all of returns and corrections unable to act as one should do. Nothing hurts intellect and heart more than a badly told story it is better not to accept favor from someone who cannot tell a story so the memory of people is lost and the memories are little more than nothing times passed and times that will come are only in stories that are made.

Oretta does not know what to do she does not know whether to be accompanied or stay and listen to that story so badly told then she decides to get off the horse she prefers to stand up and feel tired to listening to a story so badly told. Love is made of many secrets; no-one will ever know how it starts no-one will ever know how it ends and how it transforms the inner heart. Love always takes strange routes, it seems created so that man understands nothing of life but seeks love forever. Love is made of many secrets because man understands nothing.

Language is among the sharpest weapons if it knows how to give answers that immediately silence anyone who insinuates language is among the sharpest weapons to make others understand the importance of always keeping a distance and knowing how to stay in one’s place.

Here there is a difference with the story I think it is better for the woman’s husband to ask her: “Would you like this man for a night in exchange for the sum he is offering?” The wife, with a sentence: “If I take him it is to want money”. Language is among the sharpest weapons if it knows how to give answers that immediately silence anyone who insinuates language is among the sharpest weapons to make others understand the importance of always keeping a distance and knowing how to stay in one’s place.
