PROLOGO NAGO EVO NACK £169.99 › Rising above the flat-topped breed
P
rologo has created its new Nago Evo Nack for riders who prefer a slight curve to the top of their saddle, as opposed to flat designs like the Fizik Arione. The Nago’s hull actually has a pronounced curve, though you might not spot that immediately because Prologo has put a lot of effort into the construction of the gel padding: a complex multi-density and thickness design called EV2 Multi-density. At the nose, the padding is 5mm in depth and a light density, and this increases to a maximum of 10mm deep at the rear, and one and a half times as dense. This transition in depth WE SAY... and density works Comfort as good as well, with the areas that take more this is rarely found weight compressing on lightweight more, but also racing saddles offering more rebound. It feels a little unnatural to be riding a super-light race saddle that offers the plush comfort of one you’d find on a cruiser. We’re not complaining, it’s just unusual if you’ve become accustomed to saddles of this type being a little harder. Although we’ve seen lighter saddles than the 177g Prologo, we’ve rarely found one that could compare on the comfort stakes around this weight. The hull has a multi-thickness moulding
and machined slots on the nose. This adds plenty of flex, relieving pressure on that most sensitive of areas. The lightweight carbon rails are anchored into the hull quite far back and are suspended from it in moulded anchors, which again allows for plenty of cushioning flex from the hull’s rear. The carbon rails are slightly ovalised (6mm wide and 8mm deep), as most carbon rails are, so it’s worth checking on the compatibility with your existing seatpost clamp before you buy. Prologo’s new colourway of matt black soft-touch Microtex with gloss black detailing may look a little understated to some for such a high-end saddle, but we certainly approve of the stealthy finish. We found the way to get the best results with the Nago is to resist moving or shifting around; the deep padding and flex in the hull reward you more if you sit back into the saddle’s rear. This then conforms to your backside, offering a remarkably cushioned fit. The Nago is available in two widths, 134mm and 141mm, so you should be able to find one that fits your size. www.zyro.co.uk

SHORTLIST FIZIK KURVE BULL £199.99 Based on the classic Aliante shape, this is the closest Fizik saddle to the Nago shape. The design offers a huge amount of flex from the composite hull, so with minimal padding you still have a remarkably comfortable saddle. At 224g it’s heavier than the Nago Evo, but the extra comfort may be worth it. www.extrauk.co.u www.extrauk.co.uk ★★★★ ★★★★★
