Pile wind winches provide an affordable alternative for situations where accurate positioning and speed matter less, like non-performance situations or maintenance bars. The Pile wind winch wraps its steel wire in a multi-layer fashion on the winch drum. The drums are modular and can be easily adapted
to the thickness of the wire and the number of steel wires. The winches can be equipped with several control options. Pile wind winches are standard available for loads up to 750kg at speeds of 4 to 16m/min. Standard lifting heights are 5-27m.

CIVIC THEATRE Where: Newcastle, Australia Customer: SSE Biggest challenge: Offering safe access for lighting technicians
The Civic Theatre in Newcastle is one of Australia’s great historic theatres. Hosting a wide range of events and performances from concerts and musicals to theatre and dance, the art deco styled venue is a visual masterpiece and an amazing setting for any performance. Meeting the requirements of touring shows in a historical venue is often a challenge. Specialised Stage Engineering worked with the Civic Theatre to design a custom version of the Prolyte Catwalk
Truss. The design added a cantilevered lighting bar to the existing B100RVCW catwalk truss. The catwalk truss allows the technical staff safe and easy access for focusing and eliminates hazards of climbing along the truss. Adam Zakarauskas, Live Performance Coordinator for the Civic Theatre, explained: “With our H&S responsibilities in mind a more ergonomic lighting position was required. When I saw the demo piece at SSE I immediately sent a photo back to
the boys at the theatre. They all thought it was a great looking piece of kit. We are very happy with the result and all our lighting crew feel much safer when using the truss.” The 11m catwalk truss has the capacity for 45kg/m loading on the cantilevered lighting bar at all times with point loads of up to 2000kg or a distributed load capacities of 300kg/m on the main truss. These loads are in addition to a 150kg live load for a person working in the truss.
UNUSUAL - PARTNER PHILOSOPHY Prolyte Group’s partners operate independently and locally, and are able to carry out construction and installation, as well as acting as intermediaries for product feedback and customer demands. By investing in training and lasting business relationships, Prolyte has created
associations with valued partners who give excellent service to these customers. These installation partners can also broaden their operations with this access to the wide range of products in Prolyte’s portfolio. Denis Bramhall, operations manager at rigging and stage engineering provider
Unusual Rigging, echoes this: “Prolyte’s range of winches allows me to address markets I can’t look at independently. We can’t invest the amount of research and development that it takes to make new products. The extra know-how we have access to by working with Prolyte opens up new markets for us.
It is a true partnership; we bring in the practical experience, mutually engaging in product development and testing, before getting the products on the market.”
