Showtech Roof building instruction Where: Dubai Customer: Showtech Challenge: New Roof system

Showtech, the Dubai-based production company for live communication, provides full rigging services as well as light, sound and AV solutions. The firm offers customers a wide range of services from dry hire through to full event production, and has recently invested in a Prolyte Roof System to supplement their already extensive inventory of professional rigging equipment.

Showtech boasts a certified rigging crew thanks to their attendance on one of Prolyte Group’s regular rigging courses. They are responsible for all rigging - from the inspection and approval of equipment through to the safe and professional working practices of the crew. Prolyte engineers Ruud de Deugd and Ralph Beukema teamed up with the crew to perform the initial instruction set up of the

new roof system. For Prolyte Group, an instruction set up has always been an integral part of supplying a roof system to the customer, to ensure the safe and correct use of such a complex system. Both Ruud and Ralph were delighted to perform this training with such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team. The perfect weather conditions added to a fast and flawless build up.

Winter in Wartime musical For the Musical Winter in Wartime, based on the award-winning novel by Jan Terlouw, Prolyte Group supplied a stage element, based on StageDex. Winter in Wartime is a production of the National Youth Musical Theatre, earlier nominated for successful productions like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Narnia the Musical. Whereas previous productions of the NYMT were particularly imaginative, Winter in Wartime takes place

in the recent past and has above all a realistic tone, underlined by the use of innovative projection methods. Production company Pro Acts contacted Prolyte Group to find a solution for the most prominent stage element, the bridge of Arnhem. This bridge had to be 9m wide, with a flexible height of approx. 2,5m, with two separate access points for the performers. With limited depth available on stage, within a very slender structure,

sufficient stability had to be achieved. Prolyte Group provided a solution based on all standard elements; an EasyFrame C support provided stability as well as flexible height, special re-enforced 3m decks were used as basis flooring, completed with the a standard 30 kg/m railing and 2 flexible EasyStairs. This compact and flexible system proves to be ideal, as Johan Koster from ProActs commented:

“Choosing Prolyte to supply a solution for this rather large stage element, was an excellent choice, they have come up with a safe and sound system, which is practical as well, transport and setup of the system are easy and quick, just what you need for a touring production”.

Prolyte Campus Prolyte Campus is a Prolyte Group initiative that offers a complete program of learning activities to create awareness on the safe use of Prolyte products. In the past months Prolyte Group has organised several activities under the Prolyte Campus umbrella.

Refurbishing the Tropenmuseum At Prolight + Sound, German customers have the unique opportunity to enrol for free on one of the Prolyte Campus Events in Germany. Visit the Prolyte stand before 10.30hrs to get your FREE voucher. For a list of activities please go to www.prolyte.com/prolytecampus

The Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam is an anthropological museum that promotes learning about other cultures and encourages interaction. In 2003, the building housing the Tropenmuseum was listed as an historic monument due to its extraordinary architecture and historic character. Since then, plans to make this unique place more accessible have been on going. Recently, improvements were undertaken to improve facilities for meetings and

group visits, to meet the demands of a growing number of very different audiences in a modern way. This refurbishment included the installation of a grid of Prolyte H30V trusses, coated black. Neef Hijstechniek was responsible for the rigging installation, a complex and precise job, given the fact that the building is on the list of Monuments. Controllux, distributor of Prolyte products in the Netherlands, supplied the trussing.

Malecon goes Mammoth Who: Malecon Ltd. What: M145RV Mammoth truss Where: Freiburg, Germany

To be able to answer the demand for larger scale productions and events, production Service Company Malecon Ltd., based in Freiburg, Germany has invested in the Prolyte M145RV Mammoth truss. The Prolyte M145RV Mammoth truss is one of the biggest trusses available in the market. With dimensions of 780mm x 1450mm the Mammoth truss just fits a trailer. The bending moment of 580 kNm and its loading capacity of 6400kg on a 30m free

span give an indication of its sheer size and strength. The Mammoth truss has a self-weight of 52kg/m. and main chords of 100x8mm. Clever construction of the diagonals make it possible to fit a B100RV truss within the Mammoth truss, saving on truck loading space, which is considerable for this truss. Apart from the M145RV truss, Malecon also has invested in D75T tower trusses, to complement their system. Malecon Ltd. specializes in rigging and special

constructions for the Event branch. Founded in 2000 in London, they soon opened an additional office in Freiburg. Apart from outdoor festivals, Malecon has also specialized in indoor rigging for large (and heavy) productions. Malecon has been the official house-rigging partner for the Exhibition venue in Freiburg since 2009.

Oily Cart For more than 30 years, Oily Cart has been taking its unique blend of theatre to children and young people in schools and venues across the UK. Prolyte partner Rigging Services has recently provided a system for the production ‘Something in the Air’ for its third consecutive annual tour. The show, a collaboration with the aerial theatre company Ockham’s Razor, is a piece of interactive physical theatre, specifically created for young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities or an autistic spectrum disorder. For each show an audience of six young people and six carers are seated in specially created ‘nest’ chairs and raised into the air to fly in safety and comfort with the Ockham’s Razor aerialists in a unique kinaesthetic adventure. To facilitate this, Rigging Services’ solution incorporates a bespoke Prolyte trussing system from which the performers are suspended. As Bob Dean of Rigging Services stated:

Codex “The supplied system is quite complex and the loading of the performers had to be taken into account. Prolyte was able to provide us with all calculations needed and made both technicians and performers feel safe and confident with the structure”. All images are credited to Nik Mackey.

Luxembourg based company Codex, distribution partner of Prolyte Group, will have a double presence at P+S this year. Apart from their regular stand in Hall 9, Codex will bring a full-fledged Tunnel Roof to the exhibition. This roof will feature in the outdoor stage area, where loudspeaker manufacturers also showcase their new line collections and sound systems. Codex will exhibit the 16x14 Tunnel Roof with side wing areas. Visitors will

be able to access the stage to experience the extraordinary quality of this system. Codex and Prolyte have co-developed a special waterproof system, which is also on display here. In addition to the Tunnel Roof, two Arc Roof systems - based on StageDex stages - will be on show, as well as the crowd barrier system. Patrick Risch and his team will be delighted to show you around. Codex has an extensive stock of Prolyte roof systems available this summer.

H40R UK based Impact Production Services (IPS) has recently added Prolyte H40R Truss to its extensive rental inventory. The truss has been supplied with a powder coated black finish. Launched at the 2011 PLASA show in September, this innovative product combines the compact dimensions of Prolyte H30V Truss, with the loading capacity of the larger H40V truss. The H40R Truss has three sided webbing with thicker braces on the bottom side allowing easy mounting of fixtures - allowing weight to be evenly distributed on the truss, and avoiding the complications getting hook clamps in the correct chord spacing along the sides of the truss. The H40R also has a clever spigot orientation to enable the truss to be easily fitted together on the floor before rigging. Jon French, Head of Rigging at IPS who took the H40R out on its first job says “This new truss looks really neat when it is rigged - ideal for the corporate world. The truss first was used for an awards event in a central London hotel, produced by AV

Network, and received positive feedback from Production Manager Karl Saunders.

H20LB truss Designed as studio truss, the H20LB truss offers the perfect solution for installations where limited height is available. The H20LB is wellmatched to create matrix frames for circumstances where low headroom requires support grids with minimum heights, like studio installations, retail or exhibition applications.

The H40R truss, at IPS, AV network London event

The H20LB ladder truss is a frame girder - truss without the diagonal members and with rigid joints between top and bottom chords and the verticals. The standard box corner ribs, with the Prolyte conical coupling system, guarantees fast and easy assembly when compared to traditional bolted structures.

LiteConsole XPRS modules comprise just six primary easy-to-connect sections.

The S36PRT truss at Flashlight

Standard modules are designed to house a logo panel, but can accommodate a 50 PLASMA screen or LED panel, for example.

PRT truss The Prolyte PreRigTruss is the perfect solution for rigging and transporting automated lights. The rugged and user-friendly design and makes it the ideal truss for touring. The truss can be stacked with or without the dolly. Flexible cross braces in the topside make it possible to mount the fixtures or

bars at any required place. The pin-fork connection can rotate to create vertical and horizontal corners, making it possible to build spans as well as goalpost or grid configurations. The stackable dollies guarantee easy handling; one person can do stacking, tipping and connection of the legs. The dolly has foldable bumpers to improve side protection.

LineUpGate Offering a complete solution for crowd control set-ups, the LineUpGate is the latest addition to the Prolyte barrier range. The LineUpGate is designed to manage queuing crowds and the inflow of audience at entry gates for events or festivals. The modular system can be extended with as many entry gates as you need and can be connected to the standard barriers, creating on interconnected and safe system.
