Welcome to the Providence General Foundation’s 2010 Annual Report. This past year was filled with historic accomplishments for the Providence General Foundation, Providence Regional Medical Center, and our community. Of course, no one can fail to notice the exciting progress of the new Medical Tower, now standing at full height on our Colby campus and on schedule for a June 2011 opening.

Randy Petty and Dr. Jim Finley

special message from dr. jim finley After three years as Chair of the Foundation Board of Directors, my tenure in this position is ending. But I won’t go far. I will remain a Board member, and I will continue to chair the Executive Committee for The Campaign for Providence. As I make this change, I extend my gratitude to all whose shared commitment to bringing better health care to our region, deep generosity, and kind-heartedness made my job so easy. Your support of our hospital and community are an endless source of inspiration.

The Tower is a $500 million investment in the future of health care for our community. You can learn more about this amazing facility in the Special Campaign for Providence Update Section located in the forward pages of this report. Take a virtual tour of the building, learn about the world-class services and equipment it contains, and read an overview of the progress to date of The Campaign for Providence. Since it began in 2008, this historic, five-year capital campaign has raised an unprecedented $16 million in gifts and commitments from physicians, employees, organizations and community members. The special section also contains stories about some of the leading individuals whose financial support has contributed to making the Tower a reality. We’ve included information about two tremendous gifts recently pledged: an extraordinary $5 million gift from Marshall and Katherine Cymbaluk and a generous $1 million gift from Phil and Kelly Johnson. We hope you enjoy the special campaign update section about the Tower and the many stories about donors who have contributed to this historic project.

The remainder of the report focuses on the many accomplishments of 2010 and the donors who helped make the year so successful. Among these accomplishments, the Foundation received $6.5 million in new gifts and commitments during the year—an all-time record—despite the continuing effects of our country’s worst recession since the Depression. The Annual Employee Campaign raised more than $1 million in support of the Foundation and United Way. This campaign raised more support than any previous employee campaign in the history of Providence Health & Services—a five-state, 28-hospital organization. Early in the year, The Epicurean Affair raised $100,000 for cardiovascular nursing and education. At the end of the year, the Festival of Trees raised $709,000 for children’s services (yet another all-time record). And between all these Foundation events, community activities such as Columbia Funding Mortgage’s Run of the Mill and the Silvertips’ Pink the Rink together raised more than $60,000 to support special programs for cancer patients. There is much to report from the past year—and even more to look forward to in 2011, with the opening of the Cymbaluk Medical Tower and the Foundation’s launching of Phase Two of The Campaign for Providence. As Providence grows and expands to meet the healthcare needs of our growing region, we extend our sincerest thanks to you for your continued generosity and support.

A MASTERPIECE

Unveiled

The opening of the Providence Regional Medical Tower is drawing near. And when it opens on June 14, 2011, it will be known as the Marshall & Katherine Cymbaluk Medical Tower in recognition of a $5 million gift from the Cymbaluks in support of The Campaign for Providence. The unveiling of this state-of-the-art, 12-story, 700,000-square-foot facility will mark a dramatic change in the way people in this community experience hospital care. With a total cost of $500 million, the Tower is the largest capital investment in Providence Health & Service’s 105-year history, and one of this community’s largest-ever private investments. The investment has produced a spectacular building; a world-class medical facility that will match the award-winning care from Providence physicians and staff. This new facility is a physical manifestation of the human skill, talent and compassion at work every day at Providence Regional. Inspired Design Beyond the architects and hospital experts, hundreds of people—including physicians, nurses, patients, and community members—contributed to its design. The philosophy of “Patient and Family Centered Care” was integral in shaping the Tower’s many amenities and special features geared for patient and family comfort and convenience. Healing Spaces When a person is ill or injured, their healing is affected by their environment. The Tower offers a soothing, healing atmosphere for patients, as well as spaces that encourage family members to be participants in their loved one’s care instead of being “visitors.” From the two-story lobby atrium, to sweeping views from patient rooms and beautiful interior finishes, to a rooftop viewing garden, the Cymbaluk Medical Tower brings nature and our scenic outdoors inside for patients and families to enjoy.

The new Emergency Department has 79 private treatment rooms—each larger than the national average.

Investing in a Growing Region Providence Regional serves a five-county region that continues to grow and change. Snohomish County is now home to 696,600 residents and is expected to reach a

In addition to the benefit of having a state-of-the-art medical facility in our community, the new Tower has served as an economic engine for our region. Construction has injected nearly $500 million into our local economy and has provided up to 1,600 construction jobs. Over the long-term, Providence Regional will create an additional 2,000 hospital jobs that will generate millions of payroll dollars and increased tax revenue. And this added economic vitality helps attract new businesses to our region and residents. CLINICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Surgical & Interventional Services Advancements in medicine and technology over the years have taken Surgical and Interventional Services to a whole new level. Surgeons are now aided by real-time digital imaging, microscopic catheters, and even robotics equipment requiring larger and more digital environments. The surgical and interventional suites in the Tower are nearly double the size of our current operating rooms and are wired for a variety of uses—from cardiac or orthopedic surgery to less invasive interventional radiology procedures using small catheters to help diagnose or treat medical conditions.

population of more than one million in the next 15 years. Designed for today, and with tomorrow in mind, the Tower includes space reserved specifically for future needs. As patient volumes and technology evolve, the Tower’s interior spaces can be adapted for inevitable growth and change.

Lush Rooftop Garden

Additionally, there will be private pre- and postoperative patient rooms for added comfort and privacy for patients and family. Visitor amenities include a large, comfortable waiting area, private consult and “quiet” rooms, kitchen and vending machines, a children’s play area and a resource area with internet access.

Emergency Services An entire floor in the Tower—a space larger than an NFL football field—is devoted to Emergency Services. This department has 79 large, private treatment rooms in 60,000 square feet, all designed to help staff treat patients quickly with minimal waiting time. Imaging equipment will be located in Emergency Services— enabling physicians to quickly diagnose patients and save families the added stress of wait times when a loved one is transferred to another floor for imaging services.

Patient Rooms The new Tower contains four floors of spacious 200+ square-foot patient rooms with abundant natural light and many with panoramic views of Puget Sound or the Cascade Mountains. The rooms were planned with input from past patients, family members, nurses, physicians, and others with “hands on” experience in day-to-day patient care. Each room is designed with three distinct zones—patient, caregiver, family. These zones contain special features catering to each group’s specific needs.

Imaging Services Conveniently located on the Tower’s main floor, the Diagnostic Imaging department provides CT scans, MRIs, X-rays, ultrasounds, nuclear medicine, and non-invasive cardiopulmonary imaging. It will contain some of the most state-of-the-art, advanced technology available today—an investment of $20 million worth of imaging equipment. These modern tools reduce imaging time and provide higher resolution and more advanced images—resulting in more accurate diagnoses with less radiation exposure.

Split between two floors, the Tower houses 48 private Critical Care rooms. One 28-bed unit is reserved for critically ill patients; a second 20-bed unit serves as the Cardiac Surgery Single Stay Unit (CSSU) for recovering cardiac surgery patients. All rooms on both floors are private and a large family lounge is available on each floor. Caregiver stations are designed to serve the entire care team of nurses, physicians and consulting staff, resulting in a team-based approach to care that leads to the best possible outcomes for patients.

Welcoming entry offers an abundance of natural light and modern furnishings. t-3

E xcellence

The new Marshall and Katherine Cymbaluk Medical Tower is the single largest infrastructure investment ever undertaken in Providence Health & Services’ five-state region. A project of this magnitude requires significant philanthropic support from the community. When the Providence General Foundation launched The Campaign for Providence—the most significant fundraising initiative in the history of Snohomish County—our donors began to answer the call. Listed here are those individuals, medical groups, organizations, corporations and foundations who have contributed $5,000 or more to date to The Campaign for Providence. Their early and substantial gifts provided the foundation and momentum needed to propel the campaign forward, even in these difficult economic times. These gifts and commitments represent an extraordinary outpouring of generosity in Phase One of the campaign, and the Providence General Foundation will continue to partner with the community through Phase Two of this historic project. As others in the community witness the Tower’s opening— and its value in the community—it is the Foundation’s hope that even more people will be inspired to invest in the future of health care in this ever-growing region. Listing reflects commitments received prior to May 1, 2011

Hometown Success, Unprecedented Generosity CELEBRATING

Support Featured in the following pages are a few of the leading individuals and organizations who have stepped forward at extraordinary levels in support of the Tower campaign. These profiles represent a small fraction of the many supporters who have generously invested in this major project. They symbolize the spirit of giving that is so heartwarmingly common among all of our Providence donors and family. It is with deep gratitude that we express our thanks and sincere appreciation to these generous people, and to all who give their time and money to support the Providence mission.

Anyone living in Snohomish County who is not familiar with the Cymbaluk family soon will be. In June, the new Medical Tower at Providence Regional Medical Center will open as the Marshall & Katherine Cymbaluk Medical Tower in recognition of their $5 million gift to the campaign. The Cymbaluks’ gift is the largest gift that Providence General Foundation has ever received and is one of the largest philanthropic gifts ever made in Snohomish County. What inspires this kind of monumental gift? Almost always, they come from the heart. Both Marshall and Katherine have strong ties to Providence and their community. Marshall was one of the founding members of the original Providence Hospital Foundation, and Katherine was a former nurse at Everett General Hospital, before it merged with Providence in 1994. It was this fondness for Providence and love for their community that spurred their generosity. Marshall said he and Katherine decided that this was the right project and the right time for them to come forward in support. They realized that investing in health care—one of the most essential services in any region—was a way they could have a real impact on their community.

“We have lived here for 40 years,” shared Marshall. “During this time we were able to build a successful business. We saw the new Medical Tower as an opportunity to give something back to this community that has served us so well through the years.” It was 1974 when Marshall first opened Motor Trucks Inc. on Grand Avenue in downtown Everett. The company is an International Trucks dealership franchise selling new and used trucks and providing parts and service. Over time, Marshall expanded the business to encompass nine locations in Western Washington and Alaska. Long-time friend of the Cymbaluks and member of the campaign’s Executive Committee, Bob Drewel, was extremely moved by the incredible generosity of Marshall and Katherine’s gift. “This level of giving is unprecedented and simply transformational. It certainly will inspire and motivate others to step forward and be a part of this historic project,” Bob said. “Their philanthropic investment in the future of health care for our region will be the legacy they leave to their community. It is only fitting that the Tower will be named in honor of their support.”

Phil & Kelly Johnson

Giving Out of Love for Their Community When you think of philanthropic leaders in Everett who have helped to shape the city’s future, chances are, Phil Johnson is one who immediately comes to mind. As a lifelong Everett resident, Phil cares deeply about his community. He is known for his long record of generous support to local organizations and causes that improve quality of life in his hometown. The most recent is a $1 million donation to The Campaign for Providence. “I am humbled that hard work and good fortune have placed me in a position where I am able to give something back,” shared Phil. “Access to health care through a state-of-theart Medical Center is an essential need for people in any community, and we all must take a share of the responsibility to ensure that we have systems in place to meet that need. Phil is the founder of Millstone Coffee—one of our great local success stories. Phil started Millstone in 1981, and through his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, it became a household name. He sold Millstone to Procter & Gamble in 1994 and then established Cascade Coffee, one of the top coffee roasting and supply companies in the country, where he still serves as chairman today.

While they have a home in Hawaii and travel extensively following their recent marriage, Phil and his wife Kelly call Everett their home. Kelly relocated to Everett from California where she works in the hustle and bustle of the music industry, rubbing shoulders with some of Hollywood’s elite. Kelly said the couple’s philanthropic goals are in harmony. “Phil and I both believe that it is important to give to projects that are community based, and that truly make an impact,” she said. “Like Phil, I believe that everyone has a responsibility to support their community in whatever way they are able to. It might be money; it might be time; it might be something else. But whatever way you can help, it’s important that you do it,” said Kelly. The Johnson’s $1 million gift was not their first to Providence; Phil also gave $1 million in support of the Providence Community Cancer Center Campaign a few years ago. This was no surprise to Kelly. “Phil is just one of those guys who sees a need, and always steps up and contributes to make this community better,” she added.

Campaign Co-Chairs Greg Lawson, Gary Wickman, Lynnette Roberson, Dave Caudill

Investing in the Future Providence Regional Medical Center staff made history in 2010 with the largest ever Employee Giving campaign in Providence’s five-state region. Together, our employees contributed more than $1 million in support of the new Cymbaluk Medical Tower at Providence Regional. “This achievement is nothing short of amazing,” Providence Regional CEO Dave Brooks said. “The unprecedented support demonstrates how deeply our staff cares about our mission and having the best facilities possible to care for the families of this region.” A steering committee of 15 employees and four campaign co-chairs was the key to the campaign’s success—reaching out to every member of the Providence family. More than 600 employees responded with generous support. Approximately 240 employees joined the Hour for the Tower club by contributing an hour of their pay each pay period for three years. A personalized brick paver was installed in a special plaza outside the new Tower Emergency Department for each of the Hour for the Tower employees. “This kind of sacrificial giving—from top senior management to our support staff—sends a powerful message to our community about the deep commitment of our staff to the new Tower,” added Dave Brooks. “I am humbled by the incredible generosity of the staff and the personal investment they are making in the new facility. Their generous support will certainly inspire others in our community to do the same.”

Steve & Jo Saunders

A Tale of Love, Loyalty, and Generosity Anyone who has ever met Steve and Jo Saunders notices that there is just something special about this longtime Everett couple. The Washington natives first met and fell in love on a blind date more than 63 years ago—and they are still as much in love today. The Saunders spent most of their lives calling Everett their home, where they raised two children and launched successful careers. Their pride and devotion to this community—and to Providence— are unmistakable. “We are very proud of Providence Regional Medical Center and the community for the good work they do for the families of this region,” shared the Saunders. “And the new Tower is a major step forward for health care in the community.” Steve and Jo have a long history of support and active involvement with the hospital. Steve, now age 98, has more than four decades of service on hospital boards and committees,

including the Providence General Foundation board. Most recently, Steve and Jo were named honorary co-chairs of The Campaign for Providence. “This community has developed a deep affection for Steve and Jo,” said Randy Petty, Chief Development Officer of the Providence General Foundation. “So it was only natural to ask them to serve as honorary chairs of the campaign.” Although the couple now resides in Sandpoint, Idaho, they have stayed actively involved in the campaign, serving as a constant source of encouragement and enthusiasm. Additionally, they have personally made a $500,000 gift to support the campaign. “Virtually every local community organization has been touched by the lives and generosity of Steve and Jo,” added Petty. “Together, they have created a legacy of kindness, generosity, leadership and service that cannot begin to be measured.”

Sharon Gibbons, Radia Charitable Fund Director

Building a Physician’s Workshop You can’t build an award-winning medical center without the talent and expertise of a top-notch medical staff. Providence Regional is fortunate to work with some of the region’s finest and most talented physicians, who will soon have a stateof-the-art workshop that matches the exceptional quality of their care. One such partner is Radia—a team of radiologists and vascular specialists who use medical imaging to diagnose and treat patients. These physicians spend countless hours on-site at Providence Regional assisting with inpatient and outpatient diagnostic imaging services. In the new Tower, one entire floor will be devoted to these services and will include a $20 million investment in new cuttingedge diagnostic equipment. “We are excited about the new facility and the way it will transform the delivery of health care to this region,” shared Radia physician Virginia Eschbach, MD, and Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Providence Regional. “The new tower will enable us to provide a higher level of diagnostic care in a very modern and patient-friendly facility.”

Dr. Eschbach also serves as chair of the Medical Staff Division of The Campaign for Providence, helping to garner support for the Tower from physicians and medical groups like Radia which stepped forward with a $500,000 gift from the Radia Charitable Fund. “Physician support is critical to the success of this major campaign,” explained Dr. Eschbach. “It sends a positive message to others in the community regarding our physicians’ deep commitment to this project.” Ben Harmon, MD, former President at Radia, said that giving to the Tower was not a difficult choice for Radia. “One of our goals is to help meet the growing medical needs in our region,” he said. “The new Medical Tower will help do that for many decades to come.” Along with a few other medical groups, Radia’s generous contribution came early in the campaign and was instrumental in encouraging others in the medical community to give. To date, the medical community as a whole has raised nearly $4 million for The Campaign for Providence.

Harvey Bernhard

Nga & Greg Goldfinch,

A Story of Generosity and Gratitude

Geoff & Carlene Goldfinch

Five Generations of Support Harvey Bernhard spent a large part of his life bringing stories to film. He even has his own story to tell about Providence—one of gratitude and giving back to a community, a hospital and its staff that he appreciates so dearly. This 87-year-old, retired Hollywood film producer has had an illustrious career in entertainment having worked in both television and film, in roles ranging from actor to writer and producer. His filmography includes such major movies as The Lost Boys, Ladyhawke, The Goonies, and The Omen movies. He has worked with Gregory Peck, William Holden, Lee Remick, Keifer Sutherland, Michelle Pfeiffer, Matthew Broderick, and Josh Brolin to name a few. Well respected by his peers, Harvey continues to be an active voting member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences—the group that selects Oscar winners. Though Harvey escapes his home in the Pacific Northwest during its rainy winters, he always returns to his summer ranch in Stanwood when the weather turns to sun. It was during his time here that Everett physician Tracy Spencer, MD, developed a close friendship with Harvey and his wife Lillian, who passed away in 2010. Dr. Spencer and other Everett physicians provided excellent care to the couple, and Harvey said he feels profound gratitude for the experiences he had at Providence. As a way of showing his thanks, Harvey recently made a gift of $250,000 to support the Medical Tower, in honor of Dr. Spencer. “I gave out of love,” Harvey said. “Over the years, Providence has always been there for me and my family. And for that, I will always be grateful.”

When thinking of long-standing family names in the Everett area, Goldfinch Bros. is sure to be on the top of the list. A fixture in downtown Everett, since 1892, Goldfinch Bros. has been serving the community’s glass needs since before the Sisters of Providence first began providing health care here in 1905. Born and raised in Everett, Greg and Geoff Goldfinch are the fifth generation to run the family-owned business. “Our great grandparents supported Providence in the very early days,” Geoff said. “We’ve taken great pleasure in seeing Providence grow to serve the needs of our community.” When looking at the new Medical Tower, it is hard to miss the role the Goldfinchs played in its construction. The company was contracted to supply the large panels of glass making up the first four floors of the new light-filled facility. Geoff and his wife Carlene, and Greg and his wife Nga, also donated $50,000 to the Tower campaign.

Over the years, the two couples have devoted countless hours in support of the Providence mission. Greg served on a campaign cabinet that launched The Campaign for Providence. Carlene and Geoff are enthusiastic volunteers for Festival of Trees, having been involved almost every year since the festival began 25 years ago. Greg and Geoff agree that the Tower was “a good thing for us to get behind.” The brothers say that Providence has meant a lot to their family. “We respect all that Providence has done in the past for this community,” they shared. “We deeply appreciate and support what the Medical Center is prepared to do in the future to advance health care to the families of this region.”

Left to Right: Bob & Margaret Bavasi

If We Build it, They Will Come Bob and Margaret Bavasi are well known in Everett and Snohomish County as previous co-owners of the Everett AquaSox, former attorneys, and members of a family with a respected, decades-old connection to minor and major league baseball teams. “When baseball first came to Everett, it was like a ‘field of dreams,’ for both Bob and me and for the community,” shared Margaret. “We were fortunate to land in an area as supportive as Everett where we were able not only to pursue our dreams, but to also grow them.” AquaSox baseball is still a thriving community favorite today. But some people may not be aware that the Bavasis are also actively involved in Providence’s very own ‘field of dreams’ story as the hospital expands its campus to help meet the needs of a growing community. Margaret serves both on the Community Ministry Board (Board of Directors) for Providence Regional and on The Campaign for Providence Executive Committee.

t-10

As chair of the Board Division Committee of the Tower campaign, Margaret—with the help of fellow Board member Kathleen Gutierrez—has played a vital role in raising more than $800,000 in support from the members of both the Hospital and Foundation boards. Margaret and Bob also generously stepped forward with their own gift of $45,000. “The most important non-government institution in a community is its hospital. At some point, it touches everyone,” Margaret said. “So we believe a gift to the hospital is a gift to our family, our friends, and people we don’t even know. It’s a way for us to say thank you to a community that’s been so generous to us.” “We’re very proud of this hospital and its staff for keeping a focus on families and patients while earning national recognition for its quality of care,” she added. “The new tower will allow Providence to continue this tradition of excellence for generations to come.”

Barry & Charie Miller Jan & Bruce Miller

Preserving a Valuable Resource Brothers Barry and Bruce Miller spend their days helping homeowners to create or preserve the timeless beauty of their homes with custom cedar shingles—a product so highly respected in the building industry that it was featured in the PBS TV show This Old House. Much like their shingles, Bruce and Barry are also helping to preserve a long-established cause right here in Everett through their support of The Campaign for Providence. Bruce and Barry grew up in Snohomish County and followed in their father’s footsteps as owners of Miller Shingle Company, Inc. in Granite Falls. When the brothers learned about The Campaign for Providence, they found the cause to be very compelling. Barry and Bruce, along with their wives Charie and Jan, each made gifts of $25,000. Barry said the Tower was a natural choice for their philanthropy because it fills a critical need in the community. “It was clear that by making these gifts, we had an opportunity to help provide care and support to all people in the community, including the ‘Baby Boomers’ like us,” Barry said. With a keen eye for quality construction, the Millers were especially impressed with the beauty and structure of the new facility. “The scale and scope of the facility and the technology it contains are truly impressive,” shared Bruce. “The new Tower is going to be a tremendous resource for Snohomish County, and we are proud to contribute to the improved health care that will soon be available in our community.”

Highlights Mike and Cathy Deller, Event Chairs

The Epicurean Affair at Anthony’s HomePort Restaurant march 9, 2010 For the 24th year in a row, Anthony’s HomePort Restaurant in Everett closed its doors to the general public to prepare a fantastic culinary adventure in support of Providence General Foundation. Chaired by Mike and Cathy Deller, the March 9th evening affair featured delicious cuisine, fine wine…and tremendous support for cardiovascular education. More than 200 guests helped raise a total of $100,000 to benefit the David J. Stewart, MD, Cardiovascular Education Fund. Guests generously raised their bid cards high during the live auction, and for a special fund-aneed request introduced with a personal story from Mike Deller regarding his own personal experience with open-heart surgery. Thank you to all who attended the festive evening and to our generous event sponsors.

Cheryl and Spark VanWinkle, Event Co-Chairs Cheryle and Terry Earnheart, Event Co-Chairs

Festival of Trees “Christmas Dreams” november 30 to december 4, 2010 The year 2010 marked the Providence General Foundation’s Festival of Trees’ 25th Anniversary, and with the leadership of co-chairs Cheryle and Terry Earnheart and Cheryl and Spark VanWinkle, the event established an all-time record for support. Themed “Christmas Dreams,” the week-long event transformed the Comcast Event Center into a reminiscent snowy village including vintage street signs, Santa’s workshop, and a holiday store. The week’s events attracted more than 4,500 event-goers and brought in a recordbreaking $704,000 to benefit Children’s Services at Providence Regional. Thank you to our creative and dedicated 2010 chairs, valued sponsors including Mortenson Construction, Premera Blue Cross, ZGF Architects and Bank of America, along with the committee members, tree decorators and volunteers for helping to make the 25th-year celebration one to remember.

Columbia Funding Mortgage’s Run of the Mill 5k Race july 10, 2010

Pink the Rink with the Everett Silvertips october 29, 2010

Runners took to the streets for the 2010 Annual Run of the Mill 5k roadrace kicking up $40,000 in proceeds to benefit area cancer patients. The race took place on July 10 in Mill Creek’s town center with nearly 2,000 participants. Runners, walkers, canines, and strollers filled the streets as participants helped raise funds for the Linda Baltzell Cancer Patient Assistance Fund.

Providence General Foundation was pleased to partner with the Everett Silvertips for the first annual “Pink the Rink” to help raise funds for the Providence Regional Comprehensive Breast Center. The event attracted approximately 6,400 Tips fans and breast cancer supporters to raise more than $25,000 to help provide free mammograms for area women in need of breast cancer screening with limited means to pay for their care.

Providence General Foundation sincerely appreciates the support of Steve and Linda Knox of Columbia Funding Mortgage, the many race sponsors and participants for making this annual event both fun and meaningful for our community.

Providence General Foundation is grateful for the generous support of the Everett Silvertips and the many loyal Tips fans who participated in the 2010 event.

In 2010, a new fund was established to support programs and initiatives that increase patient safety at Providence Regional Medical Center. The fund, named in honor of Mr. Paramjit Singh, was seeded with a $2.1 million gift from Providence Regional and will help the future development of programs promoting patient safety, quality and patientfamily centered care through various nursing and clinical education programs. Providence General Foundation is grateful for the establishment of this fund and for the ability to invest in initiatives that continue to help Providence Regional improve and advance its mission of patient care excellence for generations to come.

United Way of Snohomish County continues support of the Providence Everett Healthcare Clinic Providence General Foundation was the recipient in 2010 of a grant from United Way of Snohomish County in support of mental health services at the Providence Everett Healthcare Clinic. The total grant contribution is approximately $90,000 over a three-year period. The grant is funding a mental health professional to help coordinate patients’ needs beyond a single appointment. Mental health issues are the second largest reason for patients seeking care at the Clinic, after well child exams. The Clinic has received generous support from United Way of Snohomish County throughout the years. The Providence General Foundation is thankful for United Way’s support in helping address the unmet needs in our community.
