A BUMPER crowd of more than 500 people packed into the Mt Buller Village Square on Saturday night to see Jye Kearney win his second Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam title. Hailing from Jindabyne, Kearney edged past 14 of the country’s best snowboarders

on Mt Buller’s famed Cattleman’s stair set to take out the title. Buller Ski Lifts general manager, Laurie Blampied said Mt Buller was proud to host the annual Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam, the premier event on the Australian snowboarding calendar.

“This event has grown each year and last night was certainly the biggest and best yet,” Mr Blampied said. “We were thrilled to see such a big crowd turn out and we look forward to welcoming the countries best snowboarders back to Mt Buller in 2014.”

Kearney pocketed a $4000 cheque, sealing victory ahead of second placed Cohen Davies and Mt Buller local Cameron Staveley in third place. Kearney’s experience in the event certainly showed as he worked methodically to impress the judges with

his famously casual style, consistent makes, and solid creative use of the entire staircase. “It’s so nice to be back on the podium after my summer off with injury,” Kearney said as he clutched his prize winning cheque. “Cattleman’s continues to be my favorite event of the year.” Continued page 2
