The Origins of Garry Nash Real Estate IN early 1973 a respected local real estate agent, Mr Arthur Meyland, took a punt on a young Garry Nash offering me a position in real estate sales. Arthur was retiring from real estate in May of that year to go into building caravans and his son John was taking over the reins at Meyland Real Estate. Knowing nothing about real estate but a little about sales, I took the position and will be forever grateful for the opportunity to discover an industry in which I remain passionate about to this very day. After seven years at Meyland Real Estate, a burning ambition to start my own real estate agency was realised when the doors of Garry Nash Real Estate opened in January 6, 1981 at 25a Rowan Street (now the home of your Everyday Gourmet). With a hardworking, small and dedicated team and a growing business, it quickly became
apparent that more room was needed. Mr Harry Milne was selling his premises at 23 Baker Street - almost diagonally opposite. In 1984, after considerable renovations, the new real estate off ice was ready for occupation. Over the decades, various other extensions have been added. The ownership of the company in the last 10 years has also expanded f rom our ‘husband and wife’ team to include two additional directors and two shareholders to ensure the company is well placed going into the future.
Our aim to create an environment in which our team members aspire to develop high skills and build relationships which best serve the needs of our clients, remains as important today as it was in 1981.
Michael Noble joined the company as a Director in 2010 and Cameron Meggs in 2013.
As in all businesses, we have had our fair share of challenges, disappointments and achievements. However, it is the people we have met on our journey and those with whom we have worked that have given us the greatest rewards.
The team over the years has also grown in response to increased legal responsibilities and to our own expectations to strive to deliver a high level of service seven days a week.

REGIONAL LIVING EXPO Garry Nash Real Estate joined the Victorian Government and the Rural City of Wangaratta in the years 2012 - 2014 at the Regional Living Expo in Melbourne. This progressive initiative saw regional municipalities from around the state come together in one place to showcase their attractions and promote the advantages of living beyond the reaches of Melbourne. Over three days, between 9,000 - 10,000 people visited the Expo keenly interested to seek further information on Victoria’s regional areas. A home charging station using onboard AC 7.2 kW charger to get from 10 per cent to 100 per cent in about nine and a half hours. If you really get stuck and have to charge it from a regular 240 volt three-point electric plug, it will take about 28 hours for a full charge. Slow, but better than being stranded without power. SAFETY There’s a very strong emphasis on primary and secondary safety in the 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric. DRIVING As always, the first thing we enjoy about any electric vehicle is the instant response the moment we move the accelerator. There’s peak torque on hand from just one rpm and
the 395 Nm of grunt is there virtually all the time. You can adjust the amount of battery regeneration using paddles behind the steering wheel. We chose maximum regeneration but initially found ourselves slowing too much or too little as we juggled the accelerator. After a few days driving we had pretty well perfected this and were pleased that we were not only saving electricity and increasing the driving range, but also minimising brake pad wear. First time owners may choose to start on less regeneration then gradually work up to their chosen level. We know that those going electric are conscious of helping to minimise climate change so are very likely to choose maximum regeneration. Well done guys and gals. There’s more road noise than we like but that’s possibly due to there being virtually no sound from the powertrain.

Noise was at its loudest on concrete motorway surfaces and on some recently resurfaced coarse-chip country roads. We were impressed by the distance to empty readings corresponding almost exactly with the distance travelled.
