LAUNCHING FRIDAY NOVEMBER 27TH

Go Dine is set to launch in High Street Nagambie this coming weekend. The Victorian Government’s Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Package is providing $87.5 million to Councils and businesses outside of Melbourne’s CBD to make widespread outdoor dining safe, practical and a reality this summer. $250,000 has been provided to the Strathbogie Shire to help ensure swift and streamlined permit, enforcement and monitoring processes to support expanded outdoor dining across the shire. With dining outlets in Nagambie already at covid-safe capacity the Go Dine, outdoor dining experience will allow Nagambie hospitality operators to safely increase their patron numbers whilst maintaining Covid-19 health protocols and practices. The innovative proposal has seen the

central median precinct on High Street transformed into an outdoor dining hub. Festoon lighting and picket fencing will complete the look and define the dining area. The three large marquees will allow patrons to relax and enjoy a taste of Nagambie while others may prefer the pop up activation space at Jacobsons Outlook.

at Jacobsons Outlook with views across the waterways as diners enjoy hampers of local produce and matching wines.

The Royal Mail Hotel, Zephyrz, Eighteen Sixty and the Nagambie Brewery and Distillery will all participate in Go Dine. Thai by the Lake have added extra outdoor dining to their venue to add to the vibrancy along the High Street strip.

Restaurant quality food is what the team at Zephryz will be focusing on. “Lunches will be a variety of light summer dishes and a dinner menu will be created with an emphasis on a magical outdoor dining experience in the Go Dine precinct,” said head chef Carol.

“It's all about providing space for people to sit down, enjoy a meal and adhere to COVID-normal rules,” said Go Nagambie’s John Beresford. The newly opened wine bar of Eighteen Sixty will set up a pop up dining space

Each business will be responsible for maintaining COVID-19 cleaning requirements and recording contact details of patrons within their allocated space.

The marquees will each add up to 50 additional diners, supporting the hospitality providers along the journey to recovery. A traffic management plan developed by Strathbogie Shire in consultation with VicRoads will ensure the safety of patrons by reducing the speed limit to

20km/hr and creating shared pedestrian and vehicle access. “We want visitors to enjoy their time in Nagambie during the holiday period, and we want to be as welcoming to as many as we possibly can,” said John Beresford. “The need to transform into a COVID Normal and create safe, practical and realistic outdoor dining experiences for summer is the driving force behind the Go Dine precinct,” said John. Go Dine will operate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, throughout December and January.

BAKING WITH BARB

Boiled Xmas Fruit Cake Welcome this Issue to “Baking With Barb”. The inspiration for this came from a friend of mine’s wife, surprisingly her name is Barb! No dinner party is complete without a dish from Barb and if it is a dessert, we are all sure to eat our veggies, so we don’t miss out. Of course we all look forward to the invite to their house, for the full ensemble; entree, dinner, dessert....yum.

Ingredients

1 cup water 1 cup sugar 375 grams mixed dried fruit 200 grams butter, chopped 1 teaspoon mixed spice 1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda 2 eggs beaten 2 cups SR flour, sifted

Baking Time 1 hour

Now the criteria here is, inexpensive, quick and easy, and of course ‘super yummy’. Now if you have been following, ‘Digging With Dave’, you will already have had the opportunity to bake this easy and delicious fruitcake. Christmas is around the corner and what better to serve the ‘blow-ins’ with a cuppa. Be warned it is addictive and you only need a slither....or two. (Thanks to Hellen for her 5-star recommendation and photo.)

Baking Instructions Boil first six ingredients for five minutes. When cooled add eggs and flour Pour into a lined greased cake tin and bake for approx 1 hour at 160 - 180 degrees Options Use brown sugar, add extra glazed cherries, decorate top with almonds before baking, instead of water use your favourite alcohol or juice and alcohol. Enjoy!

Nagambie Branch of Bendigo Bank Manager Michael Prowse said the Nagambie Branch Scholarship Program, which opens in December, was launched because the Branch believed local students deserved every opportunity to achieve their dreams. “An investment in education yields great longterm dividends and by helping young people gain access to tertiary education, the returns to the student, their families and the local community are significant. Applications will also be considered from students wishing to undertake study at TAFE. The Nagambie Branch Scholarship Program changes the lives of local students, strengthens communities for the long term and is a great example of the good that banking with Nagambie Bendigo Bank branch can achieve. Our young people are our future and we believe they deserve the best support possible to help forge their careers and achieve their dreams.” Successful Nagambie & District Community Bank Scholarship applicants will receive

funding for one year to support their further education. Applications are invited from eligible students, starting their studies in 2021, from 1 December 2020. Applications close on 29 January 2021 and will be assessed in early February 2021. Last year, the Nagambie Bendigo Bank Branch Scholarship supported local student Ashleigh Butcher with her Bachelor of Science (Global Studies) double degree at Monash University. Ashleigh said the support could not have come at a better time for her studies. "I would like to thank the Bendigo Bank for their generous scholarship - the events of this year have meant the $3,000 has been even more impactful," Ashleigh said. "The money has gone towards rent for my oncampus accommodation and school supplies. I am very grateful for the financial aid the scholarship supplies as this year has been a tumultuous experience. The Nagambie Branch Bendigo Bank Scholarship is part of the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Scholarship Program, which partners with Community Bank branches, Rural Bank and The University of Melbourne. The program has now supported over 981

students, with $9.2 million in funding since its inception in 2007. For further information please contact Nagambie Community Bank Branch on 03 5794 2565 or visit www.bendigobank.com.au/ scholarships.

CR CHRIS RAEBURN TO LEAD AS MAYOR Strathbogie Council has elected Cr Chris Raeburn from Honeysuckle Creek ward to lead as Mayor for a 12-month term. At Council’s Tuesday, 17 November, Statutory meeting, the 2020-24 Council was officially sworn in, with Cr Melanie Likos from Lake Nagambie ward elected to the position of Deputy Mayor. Council also decided against a two-year term for the positions of mayor and deputy mayor, maintaining the status quo and voting unanimously for one-year terms. Cr Raeburn, who is the only returning councillor on the new-look Council, said he looks forward to working closely with the community. “To me, it’s a great privilege to represent our Shire. I’ve lived here now for three-and-a-half years and it’s one of those places where you walk into and take it in – because it’s so beautiful,” Cr Raeburn said.

TASTES OF THE GOULBURN - HAMPERS NOW AVAILABLE

“All my life I’ve been heavily involved with community, from coaching sport to kids and working with people.

SHOP NOW and take your tastebuds on a trip around the Goulburn Valley.

“I look forward to working with my fellow councillors, our staff and, of course, the community. Because it’s the community where I get my inspiration from. It’s the community’s place and they’re the ones who tell me what we should be doing and shouldn’t.”

As a result of the COVID 19 pandemic the Tastes of the Goulburn event for 2020 was cancelled earlier this year. This was a difficult decision for the organisers to make but as with many events this year it was necessary.

Cr Raeburn also paid tribute to his partner and community members for their support. “There are a lot of people who have helped me immensely,” Cr Raeburn said.

There’s no time to be too disappointed, for the Tastes of the Goulburn team have found an alternative way to bring some Food, Wine and Fun into our lives.

Cr Raeburn joined Council in March this year after a by-election to fill a vacancy after the resignation of Kate Stothers.

They have put together a range of Taste of the Goulburn hampers which are available online via the Vic Country Market website:

Meanwhile, this will be the first term for Cr Likos, who said she is “truly honoured to be given this privilege to represent her community”. Strathbogie Shire Chief Executive Officer, Julie Salmon, welcomed the new council and encouraged the community to continue to show their support.

• Mount Wombat ward: Cr Laura Binks • Seven Creeks ward: Crs Kristy Hourigan and Sally Hayes-Burke

Seems these days we are always waiting for further updates from Dan, in the interim, we are allowed to use the Hall in small groups of 10, following all the COVID safe regulations. We have recently been able to hold a Committee Meeting to plan our AGM and Christmas Lunch function. At this stage of the year, opinions tend to agree on waiting for next year to commence our normal activities, where we will have much more clarity on numbers and regulations. We have been doing Tai Chi and Light Weights that were previously held at the St John’s Hall, and due to space regulations, were not able to be held there. We are working on ideas of how to accommodate all groups and enable participants to have a wider choice of days and activity type to attend. We are very grateful to the group from St John’s for the use of the weights and routines during the lockdown, and are looking forward to getting back to normal and seeing all the regulars who have made this group an institution! We are planning to hold our AGM on December 15th, see separate notice, and our Christmas Luncheon for all members is being finalized, dependent on the next round of restrictions. See the newsletter for further dates and details, but most likely it will be either 9th and/or 10th December if it is necessary for us to go across two days (dependent on numbers allowed and number of acceptances) Thanks also to all members who have rejoined and welcome to our new members.

Lee spent his childhood in regional Victoria in nearby Stanhope where he has fond memories of a vibrant community.

Attracted to the waterways of the Goulburn River, Lee has lived in Nagambie since 2012 and enjoys the friendly community and close family connections.

“I grew up on a dairy farm back in a time when there was a dairy farm on every corner, everyone knew each other,” laughed Lee. Lee worked for his family owned small business

“My first real job was at Mitchelton Wines as an Export Coordinator. Following 15 years in the wine industry which included 6 years living in South Australia and 5 years as Supply Chain Director, I moved to the dairy industry 4 years

Nagambie

NAGAMBIE PRIMARY SCHOOL

AVENEL PRIMARY SCHOOL

PRIMARY SCHOOL

I never cease to be amazed by the talents, enthusiasm, kindness and helpfulness of our students. I appreciate the happiness they find in the playing and helping others. This week two of our senior girls, Asha & Alexis fixed the ‘non slip’ edges on the steps to their classroom (Asha even brought in her own power tools and screws for the job). Many of our Grade 6 girls have been helping out in P-2 PE classes, teaching the younger students to skip with the long

skipping rope. I have also loved seeing the return of junior sport. Nagambie Tennis Club has many students participating in Tuesday afternoon training and Saturday morning junior tennis and the Nagambie Cricket Club U10s and 12s have played their first home games here at school. I have enjoyed watching these games and seeing the talent & enthusiasm of our students, the enjoyment of their parents watching and in particular the skills and manner of their coaches.

ST JOSEPH'S PRIMARY SCHOOL Remembrance Day Last Wednesday we commemorated Remembrance Day as a school. First we learnt about why this day is commemorated and why we need to remember. We learnt that this day marked the end of WWI, when an armistice was called and the guns ceased firing at the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month. We also learnt about the red poppy and why it is the symbol for Remembrance Day. At school, we held a service and observed a minute’s silence at 11:00 a.m. A few of our senior students and Mr Jones attended the service at the cenotaph. We Will Remember Them Lest We Forget Here are some photos of our service and some of the work that was completed.

Fun Day

On Friday, the 20th November, we celebrated a special ‘Fun Day’ to thank the students for all of the hard work that they have put into this year and to remind them that there are good things that happened in 2020 too. The children had a choice of activities and enjoyed: Fishing at the lake! Craft activities: using beads to create jewellery or key chains. Indoor activities like: air hockey, magnetic darts and table tennis. Outdoor activities like: party games, relays, etc. Movietime! A great time was had by all!

In such a challenging year, we are trying to provide some positive experiences for the students in term 4. Book Week will be one, and the Junior School Council have organised another great event- a Colour Run. Sport has been very limited this year, so the colour run will provide an opportunity for students who enjoy events such as cross country and athletics to take part in an athletic event. The use of colour and some music playing will keep the event fun and the mood happy for all students to participate. The Junior School Council are running the event as a fundraiser, with the cost being $5 per student. Students

are asked to come to school in old, light coloured clothing. The coloured powder will generally wash out, but some hint of colour may remain. The powder is safe on the skin, but students can wear sunglasses if they feel more comfortable. If the weather is hot, we will dampen the students with water pistol shots as well as using the coloured powder. I suggest sending the students with an old towel so they can clean off a little before the end of the day. There will be some prizes and different treats throughout the afternoon.

NEW LINEN TEA TOWELS Chrissy Beresford has enjoyed the lifestyle that regional Victoria offers for more than 15 years now. So much so that she has put her artistic talent to the test and designed a beautiful linen tea towel featuring local towns, major landmarks and our iconic wineries. “I always wanted to make something that people could use again and again that would remind them of their visit to the Goulburn River and Ranges region” said Chrissy. “It has been on the agenda for sometime and in 2020 I finally put it into production,” said Chrissy. “The timing is perfect with the end of what has been a very long lockdown in Victoria and we are now celebrating travel again to regional areas,” said Chrissy. “Take one home as a reminder of your visit or give it as a gift for Christmas to family or perhaps purchase it as a thankyou present - it's a very versatile gift,” said Chrissy. The tea towels are not just made for drying dishes, they look exceptionally good mounted and framed for you to treasure always. The tea towels are available at Harvest Moon Nagambie, local wineries and the Tallarook Hotel. For further enquiries contact Chrissy on 0419339708.

THE OLD SWANPOOL BUTTER FACTORY CHRISTMAS IN NAGAMBIE After the strangest year ever, let’s celebrate Christmas in the best way possible and return some joy to our lovely town with some festive Christmas Decorations. Santa and his reindeer will be appearing shortly on his landing spot in the middle of Nagambie. Santa will also appear outside the Visitor Information Centre, where you can take your picture with our gorgeous lake in the background. Santa has some special prizes for best photos for a Junior and a Senior as well as for the Best Dressed House and Best Dressed Business. Entry forms are available from the Visitor Information Centre and can be deposited in the entry box. Let’s all make this year a special way to forget about the past months and bring the spirit of Christmas to Nagambie.

A dairy co-operative and a butter factory were established in the 1890s, later becoming the Swanpool and Moorngag Butter Making and Dairy Co-op and operating until the 1970s. In 1914 a railway from Benalla to Tatong was opened, with the Lima station a short way northeast of Swanpool. Now a unique collection of various antiques in the gorgeous old butter factory. DIGGING WITH DAVE - BACK TO FRONT Well, as promised, it was back to Valma’s, and the Back-to-Front garden for the outside story. Remembering I was barely able to take in all the inside ‘treasures’ last issue and so returned to show you the ‘outdoor canvass’.

experience, lots to take in without it being too crowded. It is a little oasis and you could easily let yourself get lost. The perfect place to de-stress and wind down. As we move about I see chairs at various points and ask Valma whether she has had a ‘gathering’ recently? She points to the south-western corner, where there’s also a small table, and tells me that’s the coffee spot. The other chairs are apparently what happens when you get old, they are ‘recovery stations’, where you can sit for a few moments as needed, when working the garden. Valma quickly puts a positive spin on it, telling me, “it is nice to be around to complain!” Valma points to the grass, noting it is starting to brown. I don’t believe in wasting water on the grass, it will come back when it’s ready.

Valma’s garden is very busy, full of life and colour. The many varieties of plant seem to compliment each other and everywhere you look, there is a new treat in store. As l comment to Valma, that there is a lot going on here and I don’t know how she keeps it looking so good, she tells me that a friend of hers said the same thing! Another mate apparently chimed in that she had planted a ‘easy-care’ garden, easy-care my foot! Unfortunately, Valma tells me, she is a plant collector, and over 20-odd years of collecting and planting, the garden is where it is. Make no mistake, she loves it, however it is a fullon job to keep it up to scratch.

like lace, lovely. Valma tells me she normally digs them in, but let them have their way this year. She hopes they don’t push her out! There is an impressive ‘cotton’ palm in the yard too, named as it’s fronds get a covering of white stringy cotton-like flowers, which of course create havoc when they finally drop to the ground. Looks like Falls Creek.

Well it’s time to go, as I get the feeling Valma wants to get back to her easel, to continue her latest work. No tea and cake, not that I really need the cake! Thanks Valma, and it is “nice to be round to complain”.

Valma summonses me to the south side of the house to show me her favourite area, her vertical garden. The twenty metres or so of the side fence is covered with plants. Starting with succulents and finishing with a dark, shaded fernery. It is a lovely space, with many potted and hanging items, and I can see why it is a favoured spot. I am taken by a tall white-flowered plant and am told it is a ‘Queen-Anne’ lace, being the common name. Now Google tells me they are foreign to our shores and don’t grow very tall. I want some of what Valma is feeding them, as they are shooting for the heavens. They have the most intricate and delicate flowers, and if you do get up close, it quite literally looks

Valma says if she had her time again, the garden would be completely different, succulents and natives, would be the feature. Our climate north of the divide, does not lend itself to water reliant gardens, nor is it responsible or probably sustainable, down the track. Drought tolerant gardens make more sense and you get the benefits all year round. They are fairly low maintenance as well, so you do not feel guilty chasing your other passions. Now walking around the garden is a lovely

MID WEEK PENNANT Round 2 saw Division 5 come home with an impressive win against last years runners up, Katandra West on their synthetic green. Josh Kelly, Roy Cooper, Charlie Kemp, Graeme Toy (s) won nineteen ends in a commanding performance. The 43 – 12 final score line represents their dominance. Graham Lewis, Mia Cooper, Norm Billingsley, George Pedler (s) had a close game till end sixteen when the score was 17 all. Katandra West then won seven out of the last nine ends to win the game 19 – 28. Overall score line saw Avenel win the match 12 – 62 to Katandra West 2 – 40. The next game for ladder leaders Avenel is a home game against last year’s premiers, Dookie. Division 2 played Euroa at home resulting in a repeat of the previous week's results, one win, one loss and a draw. Ruth Underwood, Bill Donovan, Kate Donovan, Noel Slater (s) got off to a cracking start, but Euroa chipped away one shot at a time to draw even at the break. However, Avenel with steely determination scored 12 shots to 3 in the second half to come away with a 22 – 13 win. Ruth King, Joyce White, Pam Pedder, David Furletti (s) had the lead till the second last end when they held a two shot advantage. Euroa scored a two on the last end to draw the game 21 all. Rusty Schwab, Jenny Furletti, Geoff Hateley, Grace Kenworthy (s) lost eight ends straight early in the game and never recovered losing 13 – 27 against an accurate Euroa rink. Avenel lost to Euroa 3- 56 to 13 – 61 which has the club placed fourth on the ladder. Next week Avenel travel to Tatura to play Tat Hill Top Blue 2. WEEKEND PENNANT The Avenel green was full as both divisions had home games and resounding wins in round 2. Division 5 beat Seymour VRI 14 – 65 to 0 – 30. Roy Cooper, Bill Donovan, Donna Rowley, George Pedler (s) bowled accurately and consistently to come away with a 25 shot win, 36 – 11. Kyle Pedder, Norm Billingsley, Ian Bradley, Josh Kelly (s) after a close battle all day were only two up on end nineteen. However, a five on end twenty gave them a handy lead which they consolidated by adding a further seven shots over the last three ends to win the game 29 – 19. Two wins from two puts Avenel on top of the Division 6 ladder. Next week they play Nagambie away. Division 4 played Seymour with three out of four rinks winning, 16 – 89 to 2 - 79. Rusty Schwab, Charlie Kemp, Grace Kenworthy, Josh McDonald (s) won 25 – 14 after taking the lead on end six and scoring nineteen to eight shots over the remaining ends. Howard Geldard, Jenny Furletti, Geoff Hateley, Noel Slater (s) drew even six times before scoring 10 – 1 on the last five ends to win the game 23 – 16. Kate Donovan, Pam Pedder, Graeme

Lewis, Spud Furletti (s) held a handy seven shot lead on the twenty-third end. Seymour scored a five on the second last end to bring their deficit to two. But Avenel held their nerve to win the last end by two, and therefore the game 25 – 21. Jason Toy, Graeme Toy, Rob Kemp, Brett McDonald (s) lost 16 – 28 against a focused and in- form Seymour rink. The next game for sixth placed division 4 is at home against Shepparton Golf. The Mystery Tea is on Thursday 26 November. Please add your name to the list on the noticeboard if you wish to attend.

players from Avenel, Seymour, Kilmore, Box Hill, Myrtleford, Nathalia, Rushworth and Wodonga for supporting the day. Next week's golf will see the continuation of Friday twilight golf 5pm to 6pm hit off the bar will be open afterwards, then Sunday will return to a 8am to 8.30am hit off a Par event with D. Brown on office duty and W. LeCerf in the bar. Wednesday 18th November. Ten Ladies played Stroke and for the Monthly Medal. The winner of A Grade and the Monthly Medal was Sue Verge with 74. The winner of B and C Grade was Anne Burns with 76. 9 Hole winner was Karyn Thompson with 36. 18 Hole Balls went to Sue 74, Anne 76 and Ronda Richards 78. 9 Hole Balls went to Karyn 36, and Sue 36.5 and Annette Mills 37. N/P on the 13th was Jo Goodacre. Chicken Run Results.

A late edition of of the Nagambie golf club Goulburn Cup sponsored by The Royal Mail Hotel, did little to dampen the enthusiasm for the event with a large contingent of golfers turning out for a space on the clubs most prestigious honour boards, 72 players hit off in what turned out to be hot and sultry conditions that become taxing as the day wore on. But fitness was not a problem for our two winning women Irene Keogh and Jo Goodacre with Keogh always at her very best for the big events and Sunday gone was no exception, Keogh was well supported by playing partner Goodacre to win with a total of 42 points. Unlucky runners up also with 42 points went to visiting pair Irene Davies and Maree Rickman narrowly missing out on a count back, Nearest the pins for the women went to Maureen King with a stellar strike on the 3rd overall winner on the day Jo Goodacre belting it up to the 8th, Maree Rickman putting it close on the 13th and Annette Mills caressing one onto the 16th. The Goulburn Cup winners for 2020 went to the father son combination of Eddie and John James, Eddie is a regular at the event travelling down from Wodonga each year to contest and this year his travels have finally paid off winning with son John with a great total of +10. Looking at the card Eddie did the bulk of the damage with John chiming in on que to win by one. Runners up were John Richards and John Humphries with a credible +9, Richards one of our most senior players in the field has had many a high finishing position in the big events in recent years only to fall agonisingly short again. The nearest the pins were won by Jeff Mills, he was not sure how on the 3rd, Greg Whiteman just like Mills not sure how and a lot of luck getting onto the 8th, Barry Cyer using only luck to get to the13th and Wayne LeCerf attacking the 16th. The Nagambie golf club would like to thank our sponsors the 'Top Pub' for their ongoing support, and our many volunteers with course preparation, catering, and event organising. A big Shout out to the visiting

18 players braved the heat and the winner once again was Shayne Kimball with 42-32 1/2 off a H/C of 19 1/2. Shayne won on a countback from John Bond. Garry Bow was N/P on the 16th and Karyn Thompson on the 13th. Next Thursday will be Stableford on the Front Nine.

The Recreation Reserve is a hive of activity with training or matches from Monday to Saturday. It is pleasing to report an increase in the number of participants in the Junior Blaster program, aged 5 to 7 years, on a Monday afternoon with up to twenty kids learning the basics of cricket in a fun environment. After three completed rounds of the Shepparton Cricket Association there have been encouraging results. The E Grade side notched up two impressive victories before a loss to a mature Old Students combination last week. Consisting primarily of under 16 players, the youngsters have performed well with the willow. Angus Murray has scored 138 runs in two innings, Shami Khan a consistent opening batsman and Hugh Mckeown has an undefeated 50 to his credit. A surprise inclusion in round two Brad Gladwin bowled a brilliant spell on debut perhaps wasting thirty five years playing tennis. Sam Thomson and Darren Brown are the teams leading wicket takers. The B Grade side are yet to register a win. Each week the team has either batted or bowled well. When they combine the two in the one match victories will come. Dale Short is the leading run scorer as well as trundling out tidy spells with the ball. Blair TaylorLloyd has continued his form from last season and James Auld compiled an undefeated fifty in his only innings.

Nagambie Petanque Club We are back playing petanque at our piste on our regular days, and have been getting a really great turn up of members and those wishing to have a try. We are following all guidelines required and the weather has been mostly very kind to us, a few windy, hot days but now we can enjoy a cuppa or cold drink, this makes for a pleasant catch up at the end of play. As the state opens up, some of the clubs are holding their competitions, and we had three members head over to Hanging Rock last weekend to enjoy getting back out amongst our wider Petanque community. Normally we meet at our regular practice times, of 3 pm on Thursday and Sunday at our piste area behind the public pool, Recreation Reserve, Vickers Road. If you would like to know anything further, please give me a call. We supply boules, and you will be made most welcome. Call Jill on 0419567580 for further information.

The A Grade side are undefeated with wins against Northeners and Euroa in the last two weeks. Brayden Biggs has been the standout bowler snaring four wickets in each of the games with Luke Nolan the leading run scorer. Recruit Ben Tarran is performing well with both bat and ball and the return of Kyle Winter-Irving is a welcome addition with his all round skills. This week Nagambie hosts Numurkah in what would have been a replay of last years grand final if it was played. The Under 16 had a two week bye after their round one victory. After a victory in their first match the Under 14 side was defeated by Northeners by 61 runs. Chasing 182 for victory Nagambie was dismissed for 121. Batting 37 of their allotted 40 overs, Flynn O'Brien 24, Phillip Close 22 not out and Jo Nash were the major contributors. In the competitive Under 12A section Nagambie is in third position after two victories from three matches. Last week the side comfortably chased down the opposition total of 105 scoring 7 for 153. Archie Harrison 32 not out, Flynn Bush 27 not out, Flynn O'Brien 27 and Max Smythe 20 top scored. The Under 10 season commenced with a mid week wash out. Last week Nagambie 8 for 81 were defeated by Murchison 104.

MITCHELL SHIRE PERMIT PROCESSES IMPROVED FOR BUSINESS When it comes to doing business, Mitchell Shire Council want to make it as smooth as possible for businesses to establish, develop and expand in the Shire. Local businesses said our permit system needed to improve, and we’ve listened. As a result, a business concierge service has now been established to assist small businesses with permit applications and setting up a new Business. The improvements come at a time when people are looking to invest in the area, with both businesses and residents looking to call Mitchell Shire home. Council’s Business Concierge Officer will support businesses in understanding which permits are required, and what documentation is needed to go through the Council permit process. An online selfassessment form, that will also assist in the

The Business Concierge, which was created as part of the Better Approvals Project, can also arrange for the various Council departments to meet with the business and discuss proposals, providing greater clarity on Council regulations and processes which will ensure the business understands what is required. We are working on ideas of how to accommodate all groups and enable participants to have a wider choice of days and activity type to attend.
