Domaine Louis Moreau was born from the passion of a family settled in Chablis since 1814. As soon as the late 19th century, the love of this family for great wines brought her to purchase plots in Grands Crus and Premiers Crus. Nowadays, proprietor of parcels in 5 of the Grands Crus, including a monopole, the domaine works many plots within the appellations of Petit Chablis, Chablis and Premiers Crus, in full respect of the environment. The most prestigious of its wines is the monopole Chablis Grand Cru Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos whose acquisition was made by the Moreau family in 1904. Louis Moreau, who has been heading the domaine since 1994, elaborates wines of unique style, combining minerality, fineness, elegance and purity. Louis gives greater place to a vine conduct in full respect of the environment. He always seeks for the most natural solution in order to protect the quality of his vines and grapes. An important work is realised to allow the plants to grow properly while struggling against external pressures. Moreover, the results of such methods are a total control of the yield. Louis collaborates tightly with the most important domaines in Burgundy to improve the quality of the selected plants thanks to nursery researches. He particularly focuses his research on massal selections of the most robust vine plants in "Vieilles Vignes" of the domaine (mainly in Premiers Crus and Grands Crus) in order to better valorize all the terroirs. All year long, Louis practices high quality methods, ending with handpicking harvests, followed by small volumes transport to the winery and use of sorting table. Chablis & Chablis 1ers Crus are vinified in stainless still tank to express all their minerality & their fineness. On the other hand, the powerful & the richness of the Chablis Grands Crus grant the fair use of oak barrels for a harmonious growing.
