David Copperfield was an orphan child, his father had died 6 months earlier. He lived with his mum and Peggoty, his maid. David went to Yarmouth with Peggoty and he met Emily. When he arrived at his home, he had a stepfather, Mr Murdstone, he was mean with David. David began to go to school in London. He returned to his house on holiday, and he saw that he had a little brother. Peggoty stopped work in the house, because she married Mr Barkis.
His mum and brother died and he started to work for Mr Murdstone. Then David went to find his aunt Betsey. David started to go to school again. When he finished his studies he went to Yarmouth to think about his future. Emily told him that she was going to get married. He started to work in London, there was no salary. One day his employer, Mr Spenlow, invited him to his house. David met his employer’s daughter, Dora, he fell in love with her.
Mr Barkis died and David invited Peggoty to go to London with him. Then Ham said to David and Peggoty that Emily had run away. After that David found the courage to tell Dora how much he loved her, and she told him that she felt the same about him. Then David needed extra work in addition to his job as a proctor. He began to work with Dr Strong to get money to marry Dora. Mr Spenlow said to David that he couldn’t see Dora again, because he had no money.
One day after that, in the office David learnt that Mr Spenlow was dead. When David was 21 years old he was working for a newspaper. He got money to get married to Dora. David went to Canterbury to visit Agnes, he told her about Dora and her father’s dead. One evening in London, David saw Mr Peggoty and Martha. They were looking for Emily.
David sent to Dora’s aunts a letter, he asked them for permission to marry her, they agreed. At last their wedding day arrived. Months after the wedding they discovered that Dora was expecting a baby, but they lost the baby and Dora became very ill. Later Dora died peacefully. Then David learnt that Ham had died in the sea. After that he decided to travel and write books. He lived in Italy and Switzerland. David returned to England and he got married to Agnes and they had 3 children.
