Carl Castledine is CEO of Away Resorts, a unique operator of holiday parks.

The parks are located at five sites Whitecliff Bay (Isle of Wight), Mill Rythe (Hampshire), Tattershall Lakes (Lincolnshire), Mersea Island (Essex), and Barmouth Bay (Snowdonia National Park).

All provide a range of high quality accommodation choices from luxury holiday lodges and cottages with private hot tubs to camping facilities. The business was founded in 2008 by Carl, along with Neill Ryder (finance director) and Greg Lashley (operations director). Based in Hemel Hempstead, the business has successfully grown sales to more than £30million, positioning the business with a solid foundation for growth.

Carl is a third generation holiday park operator who has worked for Bourne Leisure and Park Resorts, the UK’s largest holiday park businesses, in various management and director roles prior to starting Away Resorts.

He is managing director of the 140 acre multi-award winning Skelwith Fold Caravan Park at Ambleside in the heart of the Lake District National Park, and also Moss Wood Caravan Park at Cockerham, Lancaster.

Leaving school, Henry wanted to be an auctioneer but after agricultural college he reluctantly stumbled into the family caravan business at Moss Wood due to his late mother’s ill health. Twenty years on, he is an ambassador for all that is good about an underestimated industry.

Jenny joined the NCC in 2010 as marketing manager, responsible for the online and below-the-line marketing initiatives across the NCC. Today, Jenny oversees marketing for the entire NCC group. This includes the cross industry, national promotional campaign ‘Freedom to Go,’ which showcases holiday parks and homes in new markets and two of the largest consumers shows held each year at the NEC – The Motorhome & Caravan Show and The Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show.

Bernard Donoghue is the CEO of ALVA, whose members are the UK’s most important and iconic palaces, castles, heritage sites, houses, museums, galleries, cathedrals, zoos, gardens, and leisure attractions. He is the chairman of the Tourism Alliance; chairman of the London International Festival of Theatre; deputy chairman of Kids in Museums; and a trustee of the Heritage Alliance, WWF-UK, the Geffrye Museum of the Home and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Jenny achieved a post graduate diploma with the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She also worked at Centrica for eight years within blue chip brands The AA and British Gas.

Jitka Foralova is area manager for the south of the UK for Booking. com. She currently manages commercial and content teams based in London and Bristol. Prior to joining the Booking.com UK team, Jitka was responsible for developing teams and markets in both city and seasonal destinations out of Austria and the Czech Republic. Jitka has been with Booking.com for six years and is based in London.

With over seven years in the digital sphere, Abbey has empowered hundreds of SMEs to improve their presence online and grow through digital skills training.

Prior to his current role, he championed Google products and services as the London market manager where he worked with technology partners like HP, Sony, Acer, and Asus. During that period, he was also involved with the launch of the first Google stores globally. He studied International Business Economics at The University of the West of England and currently lives in London.

As per the National Planning Policy Framework, the Local Planning Authority is now responsible for assessing flood risk and ensures SuDs have been considered in any development proposal at the planning stage. Failure to provide adequate details on flood risk and drainage within a planning application will result in a delay or even objection to planning permission.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER David specialises in the preparation of flood risk assessments for planning applications and due diligence purposes and provides flood risk, property level flood protection and flood warning advice.
