NEIL MACMILLAN

HOW TO SAFELY MANAGE DIVING ACTIVITIES WEDNESDAY | 11.45 | THEATRE 8

Neil has over 25 years’ diving industry experience and has worked throughout North America, Europe, North Africa and Asia. He is the current training manager at the Professional Diving Academy, Dunoon, a well-respected HSE-accredited (IMCA recognised) diver training school that trains divers for international offshore oil, gas and renewable energy industries.

He was instrumental in developing the PDA’s ‘Diving Projects Awareness Workshop’, which for the past seven years has educated clients on their legal obligations whilst engaging in commercial diving activities. Neil was a diving supervisor for several organisations over many years, including PDA’s sister company Shearwater Marine Services. He is a member of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) diving committees and workgroups that develops and issues safety guidance for international offshore diving projects.

Safe Management of Diving Activities A large number of marine engineering projects will be supported by commercial diving services. Stakeholders have a legal obligation under the HSE Diving at Work Regulations to ensure sub-surface operations are properly planned and carried out using recognised safe systems of work. As well as using the appropriate working procedures, diving equipment should be properly maintained and competent personnel should be employed to undertake the works. This seminar provides guidance on the aforementioned.
