Paul Bepey BBC End to End Accessibility Within the BBC Paul Bepey is himself registered blind and has a huge interest in assistive technology. As BBC assistive technology lead, Paul heads up the staff facing accessibility team as well as the plan, set up and execution the BBC’s strategic objectives with regards to assistive technology. In his presentation, Paul will be detailing the end to end accessibility service for staff facing systems and services within the BBC; covering recruitment, access to work, application/service accessibility, service design and more.

National Care Association Caring for the Future… Nadra Ahmed OBE DL, is the executive chairman of the National Care Association and has been involved in the field of social care for over 30 years. In this seminar, Nadra will consider the ageing population in terms of demographic and how, as a nation, we will cater for it, as well as the challenges faced with long term care. Nadra will also cover the type of provision people will be looking at as they get older, and more flexible approaches to this, and she will also tackle the image issue.
Sarah Newton Minister for Disabled People Government Approaches: Assistive Technology, Disability and Inclusion Sarah Newton MP, the Minister of State for Disabled People, Health and Work, is responsible for disability issues across Government. Sarah is pleased to have been invited to speak at Naidex about work going on in Government to promote the development and use of innovations in independent living. In particular, Sarah will focus on the role of assistive technologies in work and health strategy, and improving opportunities for disability employment.

Carol has worked with autistic people and their families for over 35 years, in both voluntary and local authority sectors. Since April 2016, the National Autistic Society has been delivering their Too Much Information campaign to transform public understanding of autism. Too Much Information has used a variety of innovative methods to not only educate the public and change their attitudes towards autism, but also to achieve practical changes to the way government, businesses and services operate and support autistic people. Carol will outline how the National Autistic Society have achieved a shift in attitudes and what challenges still remain.
