Chris Fells has been the Product Excellence Director for KFC UK and Ireland for more than a decade, having joined the company in 2003. He oversees sourcing and buying products for the KFC menu, and is passionate about both the nutritional content and the environmental impact of its products. Chris was responsible for KFC being the first QSR in the UK to stop salting its fries, leaving that decision to the consumer. He is also looking at ways to maximise the environmental benefits of KFC’s initiative of recycling waste oil into bio diesel. Chris’ impressive career spans over 20 years as an experienced food technologist prior to joining KFC. After achieving his BSc in Food Science, his career began as a graduate with Sainsbury’s, working within the technology and trading departments. Following a year as General Manager of frozen foods, Chris was retail quality assurance and specialist training at Sainsbury’s.

BOSNIAN REFUGEE FLED THE BALKAN CONFLICT Despite holding a BA in Civil Engineering, Bosnian Edin Basic spoke little English when he moved to the UK in 1992 to avoid the Balkan conflict. After working as a head chef, he accepted a variety of management roles with Prima Pasta, Dome and Caffe Uno. Edin was responsible for the opening and development of new Caffe Uno units before becoming an area manager, responsible for eight units with annual sales of £5.5 million. Edin then moved to Starbucks as a district manager, with responsibility for the City of London, before leaving to pursue Firezza in 2001.

Latimer’s Deli and Café serves wholesome and tasty cooked fish dishes alongside café essentials such as bacon rolls, good coffee and proper homemade cakes and scones.
