After selling cups to airline caterers from the back of his car for two years, in 1995 William put his first bottling line in. William still has extensive farming interests as well as having diversified further into the hotel industry.

John started his professional life with Deloitte and Touche, qualifying as a chartered accountant, and working in their Forensic Accounting division. Soon after qualifying, John joined PepsiCo restaurants in finance. He progressed through various finance positions before moving into operations with KFC; from here he moved to look after the Central European and Russian markets for KFC and Pizza Hut, returning to KFC a few years later where he moved back into an operations role; this was quickly followed by moves into franchise and development. From KFC he moved across to Pizza Hut, where he has held operations, franchise, and development roles, and is currently the chief development officer.

Involved in electric vehicles since graduating from Manchester University, her inspiration to seek new ways to commute started whilst growing up between Malaysia and Ireland, where she experienced how different circumstances affected mobility. Recent work experience in Spain and China also provided her with the opportunity to explore electric mopeds as a way of cleaner, energy efficient transportation.

Kevin has worked in public health and pest control for the military and in a number of countries. He joined Rentokil as a technician and then went on to be a technical surveyor. He has worked as a consultant in Saudi, Egypt, and the Trucial Oman states, delivering training and logistical support. On returning from the Middle East, he formed a pest control company with industry colleagues and built it into a national account before selling it.
MAUREEN OGBU
Ramiro is as an expert in the impact of packaging waste on the environment and the issue of food waste created by insufficient barriers provided by the packaging that’s commonly in use in today’s industry. As the business development manager of Oneworld Packaging, he’s contributed to the development of the OK-COMPOST certified trays, which are mostly made with cellulose and coating that makes the product ovenable, microwavable, freezable, sealable, and recyclable with organic or paper stream waste.

Maureen initially trained as a barrister then re-qualified as a solicitor and was admitted to the solicitors’ roll in 2006; she’s subsequently prosecuted for various local authorities in the UK and also for the Food Standards Agency. Maureen represents businesses facing prosecution by the Health and Safety Executive, local authorities for breach of health and safety, Food Safety Law, Trading Standards, and Environment Health regulations and will represent clients from the investigation stage through to court hearings.
BRIAN DUCKETT Brian is chairman of The Franchising Centre. He is a franchising veteran with over thirty years’ experience in the sector as a franchisee, franchisor, and professional advisor. He writes regularly for the UK franchising and business media and has presented at several seminars and workshops, including those arranged for The Institute of Directors, The Confederation of British Industry, The British Franchise Association, The International Franchise Association and British Franchise Exhibitions.
CHRISTOPHER FUNG Christopher is the ex-CEO & co-creator of Crussh, the inaugural winner of the 2015 UK Juicing Championships, and the UK’s leading juice, smoothie, and healthy eating chain. Chris joined Crussh in 2003 from Bain & Co. with a background in strategy consulting and private equity, having worked across their Sydney, Stockholm, and London offices. Having led the business from 2003-2016, Christopher was responsible for the overall direction of Crussh and ensuring the success of its growth plan.
SYED BELAL AHMED Syed manages different business portfolios, including event management and media publications in the UK. He founded the Curry Life Magazine, which is now regarded as an authoritative and independent voice of the curry industry in Great Britain. He also founded the Taste of Britain Curry Festival, which is a globetrotting event. Curry Life and Taste of Britain Curry Festival have been promoting the best of British curry all over the world including India, where curry originated.
RACHEL PATRICK Rachel is the head of operational policy and delivery in the FSA. In 2000, Rachel joined the Food Standards Agency and has worked in different areas within the Agency, including heading the Delivery and Quality Assurance team and the Technical Hygiene Delivery team. Rachel led on the development and publication of a series of national guides in partnership with the food industry, which provides guidance to good hygiene practice and the application of HACCP principles within the legislative framework.
PAUL WARREN Paul is director of Food and Hygiene Ltd. He supports food businesses in training and compliance to help improve hygiene ratings as well as giving advice on achieving SALSA and BRC accreditation. By delivering this support and bespoke training, clients have achieved additional contracts and consistently high food hygiene ratings which in turn drives customer confidence and repeat business. Paul believes that food safety is everyone’s responsibility and changing workplace culture is essential to keeping customers safe.
GURCHARN KAUR SIDHU Gurcharn is a communications consultant and trainer with more than thirty years in the field of public relations/media relations, corporate communications, marketing communications, crisis management, and event management. She has been a director of CornWare UK Ltd since March 2015. She provides her expertise in public relations and marketing communications as well as in-house content creation work for public relations and marketing tools for the web, mobile, video, and print media.
TOM WILLIAMS Tom grew up running a large hotel and restaurant with his family in Hertfordshire. Realising how significant their staffing problems were, he believed there should be a better way to call-up quality staff quickly to cover illnesses, holidays, or even just peaks in demand. He co-founded Rota to provide quality short term staff at the touch of a button. The app matches their most suitable members of vetted and trained staff and the 50 venues they work in around London, Manchester, and Birmingham.
