The superb quality of the artists truly defines the excellence of La Quinta Arts Festival. This year it will host 230 of the nation’s premier contemporary artists arriving from 35 states, Canada, and Israel to exhibit their original works in every possible media category. You don’t have to be an art expert to know what you like – and you are sure to discover that one special piece made just for you at La Quinta Arts Festival. 2015 Featured Artists: Guilloume, Painting (Sandia Park, NM) - Chosen as the 2015 Poster Artist for his original painting entitled “In Prayer,” Guilloume is an artist who uses understated but timeless forms in paintings, bronze sculptures and reliefs to depict the value, commitment and feelings of family and friends. Lorra Lee Rose, Mixed Media (Pine Grove, CA) – Lorra Lee’s ultra-flamboyant “Mambo” feather creation is featured as one of the primary images for the 2015

marketing campaign. Lorra Lee’s work has a mythic, fantastic quality, evoking a sense of belonging to another time and place, a magical world of dream-beings, while still being intensely vivid and present. Come for the art; stay for the entertainment. La Quinta Arts Festival is a total sensory experience and just as you will see every art medium imaginable, you will delight in the variety of music entertainment too! This year's lineup is takes you on a trip around the world starting with smooth flamenco guitar stylings of Milton Merlos, meditative Bolivian Pan Pipes by master Oscar Reynolds, and favorites Steve Madaio and Friends will have you swinging and singing to those Sinatra standards. For those classically inclined, a new alliance with CV organization OperaArts brings Operetta and Broadway from some amazing talent. Just when you thought your entertainment journey was over, make one last stop on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm to salsa, merengue and cha-cha to the Louie Cruz Beltran EPK Latin jazz band. To complement all the art and entertainment, a selection of fabulous fare, plus fine wines and craft beers will be offered at Restaurant Row, Island Bar and Oasis Lounge. And do not miss The Chocolate Bar tended by Brandini Toffee, serving-up velvety-rich vanilla ice cream bars dipped into decadent chocolate and rolled in toffee or nuts. La Quinta Arts Festival is presented by La Quinta Arts Foundation in partnership with Premier Sponsor The City of La Quinta. Event hours are 10 am to 5 pm. Cuistot Landmark Palm Desert Restaurant So Much More Than Formal Dining hether on vacation or a local, you don't want to miss every opportunity to enjoy Cuistot Restaurant in Palm Desert. Featuring contemporary California French cuisine, Cuistot is a restaurant of many dimensions. That's because owner and executive chef Bernard Dervieux has drawn upon his broad culinary background to create an environment that allows guests to enjoy memorable experiences whether it's happy hour with friends, patio dining by the open fireplace or celebrating a special occasion. Bernard Dervieux grew up in Condrieu, a rural town near Lyon in the Rhône region of eastern France. In his late teens, Dervieux was given the opportunity to receive culinary training under internationally acclaimed French chefs Paul Bocuse and Roger Vergé. It was Bocuse who sent the young Dervieux to America to work as a sous chef at Le Français in Wheeling, IL. Despite speaking no English and only 20 years old, he embraced the opportunity. “I wanted to go. I was young and eager to try everything!” he remembers. Within four years, he was the executive chef at Chicago's world-famous Pump Room. In 1980, on the recommendation of Wolfgang Puck, Dervieux was hired as the executive chef at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Six years later, he helped open the brand new Grand Champions Hotel (now Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa). It was here that he fell in love with the desert and began dreaming of having a restaurant of his own. In 1987, he opened the first Cuistot, a cozy little French bistro in a storefront on El Paseo. The restaurant quickly became so popular that it outgrew its small size and Dervieux began looking for a location where

W

he could build his dream restaurant. In 2003, Dervieux opened the current Cuistot, sparing no detail as he drew upon memories of his family's French farmhouse. The formal dining room features a soaring beamed ceiling with stone walls, fine art and a massive fireplace, perfect for special occasions or anytime you want to relax and enjoy fine-dining. Favorite entrees include lobster ravioli, California roasted quail, poached Scottish salmon. But there's more to Cuistot than formal dining... The Bistro room, offers a more relaxed dining experience for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Here, guests can enjoy à la carte entrees or a three-course prix fixe. For lunch, try the Lunch Box, a creative version of a Japanese Bento Box. The adjoining Bistro patio with its open fireplace and comfy benches, overlooks a beautiful, soothing

waterfall and the sculpture garden of the adjacent Art Museum. Enjoy Happy Hour food & drink specials daily in the Bar from 4-6pm. With hand-polished onyx counter tops, cozy booths and its own patio, the Bar at Cuistot is the perfect place to wind down after a busy day or kick-off a fun evening! There are also incredible private dining options including a wine room surrounded by bottles of fine wines. And speaking of wine, Cuistot is the only restaurant in the Valley to have earned the prestigious Wine Spectator Best Of Award Of Excellence, every year since 2005. And while they offer wines for the most discerning oenophile, you can find a truly great wine to fit every taste and budget. Open daily for dinner, lunch TuesSat and Sunday brunch. 72-595 El Paseo, in Palm Desert. 760-340-1000 or CuistotRestaurant.com

Welcome to Greater Palm Springs

Like many full-time residents of the Greater Palm Springs ngs area, my first experiences with the region involved work and vacations. I was fortunate to have a job where re I accompanied auto dealers at special events all over the country, including frequent trips to the Palm Springs area. I always enjoyed coming here. In addition to o great weather, there’s a perfect mix of amenities and d things to do without the stressful hustle and bustle of the big city. That’s why, when I had the opportunity to live anywhere I wanted, I chose Palm Springs. In fact, t, I decided where I wanted to live before I decided what at I was going to do for a living. In 2002, I was ready to be my own boss. That’s when en nI discovered the Travelhost Opportunity. It’s the best be est decision I ever made.
