Healthcare Recruitment Award

PRESENTED BY

Improving patient access and choice depends on the quality and availability of staff in all areas of the hospital practice. This award will recognise the NHS organisation that has developed a robust recruitment policy that delivers both safety and continuity to patients.

H South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust With winter now well underway, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust has been working to fill 50 new Health Care Assistant roles to help boost its frontline teams and support existing staff who have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic. Candidates with a background in customer service, as well as those with previous experience of working in the care sector, are all in the running for the roles, with transferable people skills seen as the vital ingredient required to deliver compassionate care to patients. The new recruits will be deployed to support busy hospital wards across South Tyneside and Sunderland and other areas of the Trust and will gain valuable experience to launch their care careers.

H Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of a small number of NHS trusts to have been named in the National Apprenticeship Service’s Top 100 apprenticeship employers ranking, showcasing the country’s outstanding apprenticeship employers. Still a fairly new trust, LUHFT was ranked number 62 on the list which recognises organisations for their overall commitment to employing apprentices, creating new apprenticeships and the progression of their learners onto further study or employment. As of the start of 2021, LUHFT has 541 apprentices across a range of roles including clinical, admin, IT, pharmacy and management. The apprentices range from Level 3 to Level 7 (Masters). The trust has also saw 50 new healthcare assistant apprentices and six business administration apprentices recruited for 2021.

H Nottinghamshire Healthcare This year Nottinghamshire Healthcare has been recognised for its work in supporting employees who are military reservists. The trust was given a Gold Award revalidation from the Ministry of Defence Employers Recognition Scheme for supporting defence and the armed forces. The scheme encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. It encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant. Nottinghamshire Healthcare first received the Gold Award in 2016. The trust resigned the Armed Forces Covenant in June, pledging to support the armed forces community and recognise the value that serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families contribute to the country.

H North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust The Bridge to the Bank, run by North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, programme is a three week pre-employment programme that was created to help nurse cadets and health and social care students gain the required experience and training to work for the NHS as health care assistants. Placements were allocated at hospitals and community settings across the trust. After three weeks training and a week’s worth of shadowing placement, the students are guaranteed an interview to join the Bank as Health Care Assistants. The programme is ideal for those who have not secured a place at university and/or considering apprenticeship opportunities within the NHS.
