INTERNATIONAL "The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion."
JCI ASIAPACIFIC INTERNATIONAL CITY CONFERENCE (APICC) & JCI ASIA PACIFIC CONFERENCE (JCI ASPAC) MAY 2018 It is an International Festival!! JCI KL began the Quarter 2 with a visit from JCI Monaco National Member, Estelle. Her arrival was hosted by JCI Kuala Lumpur, JCI Kuala Lumpur Mandarin, JCI Lead Tropicana and JCI Petaling Jaya. Her trip was a personal one, but nevertheless, JCIM local chapters were eager to connect and seek different ways to collaborate with JCI Monaco. It was not long after JCI Monaco’s visit that JCI Bauang Baggak from Philippines came knocking on the door. All the international directors Miccele, Tissa, Kelly, CD Joel, and Secretary General Shirley picked all 15 guests up from their hotel. Like all hosting, the two chapters began knowing each other by sharing a meal. It was a famous local fusion restaurant called Murni where for the first time, some of JCI Bauang Baggak tasted unique local Malaysian food. Their visit was nothing short of fun & both parties warmed up to each other ending the night by a visit to a tourist hotspot called “The River of Dreams” right at the heart of Kuala Lumpur City Centre. Just when JCI KL thought that JCI KL could take a breather from meeting more international JCI members, JCI APICC (Asia Pacific International City Conference) and JCI ASPAC (Asia Pacific Conference) took precisely this another few notches upwards. As JCI KL began the APICC journey in the land of the rising sun, the visit was greeted by 2017 JCI Tokyo President Mami Hatano who took the JCI KL delegates out to an Italian lunch and a short visit to Ginza area. As evening came closer, JCI Tokyo members brought JCI KL delegates to the welcome dinner to mark the beginning of 2018 JCI APICC. The next few days were nothing short of intense sharing, discussion and endless friendships being built. JCI KL not only had an excursion, but also a visit to JCI Tokyo’s very own GMM (attended by 400 members) which was a real eye opener to all JCI KL delegates. To experience and observe how JCI Tokyo conducted their meeting and how they led their members was an inspiration. The following week at Kagoshima where the 2018 JCI ASPAC was held, the bonding between Malaysian chapters and international sister chapters strengthen even more. While official events & trainings were important, meeting the sister chapters were even more important. JCI KL delegates began the meet with JCI Cheonan (Korea) where all partied until wee hours in the morning, followed by JCI Nishinomiya (Japan) who hosted the delegates with an amazing Japanese style buffet. JCI KL delegates then managed to catch JCI Taichung (Taiwan) and JCI Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) during their national night. And just before ASPAC ended, JCI KL delegates had a great time with JCI Kowloon (Hong Kong) and had tea with JCI City (Singapore). And just as the clock strike 12am after the ASPAC closing ceremony, JCI Kuala Lumpur & JCI Manila continued the conversations & partied with the 2019 APDC Officers till the next morning, saying goodbye over a warm Japanese Ramen.
