“The students know my habits. They track me down and pull me into a classroom to help them when they have questions. And my office is 20 feet away from them, which is kind of convenient. I don’t know any of my colleagues who wouldn’t do whatever they could to help their students.”

Hands-on Learning Beaver students have the chance to conduct research studies with faculty members, an opportunity usually reserved for students at the graduate level. Students have worked on a diverse range of projects, including developing a previously unseen molecule, building an app to help Pennsylvania farmers diagnose and cure disease in crops, and investigating the cause of white nose syndrome, a disease that’s killing off the little brown bat population. One group of students created a model of Henry Ford’s first gasoline engine, which is now on display at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

Penn State BEAVER
Penn State Beaver has a large impact on the surrounding community. Recently, a group of engineering students repaired a forge for a local blacksmith using historically accurate, 19th-century technology. The campus garden and high tunnel greenhouse have grown enough produce to supply communitysupported agriculture subscriptions and donate to the local Salvation Army. And students regularly volunteer for service projects that range from collecting donations for the local women’s shelter to cleaning up a nearby river town.
Student Life As a student at Penn State Beaver, there are a variety of opportunities for you to get involved and connected on campus. Write for the student newspaper, show off your creative talents during an open mic event, join an intramural basketball team, or become part of the Campus Activities Team to plan social and cultural events. With more than 20 clubs and organizations, you’re sure to find something that meets your interests. Living on Campus Harmony Hall, a traditional residence hall that recently underwent a million-dollar renovation, accommodates two students per bedroom and features common bathrooms on each floor. The residence hall provides 24-hour card access at exterior and interior doors, a fully equipped community kitchen, laundry facilities, vending machines, and a game room with a big-screen TV, pool table, and air hockey. Penn State BEAVER
In just the past twelve years, the campus has collected nineteen Penn State Athletic Conference titles in seven different sports. And women’s basketball won the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championship in 2015.
Athletes make up nearly twenty percent of the student population and hold numerous positions of leadership on campus. But they are students first, and they take that mantra seriously. Beaver athletes consistently have a collective 3.0 GPA. VARSITY Men

CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS—The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and Pennsylvania Act of 1988 require that crime statistics for Pennsylvania colleges and universities be made available to applicants upon request. Penn State’s combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings owned or controlled by the University, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. You may obtain this information for the Penn State campus to which you are applying by accessing the website at www.police.psu.edu/clery/ A printed copy of the report may be obtained by writing to University Police & Public Safety, The Pennsylvania State University, Eisenhower Parking Deck, University Park PA 16802-6703 or by calling 814-865-1864. THIS PUBLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN ALTERNATIVE MEDIA ON REQUEST. The University is committed to equal access to programs, facilities, admission, and employment for all persons. It is the policy of the University to maintain an environment free of harassment and free of discrimination against any person because of age, race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, creed, service in the uniformed services (as defined in state and federal law), veteran status, sex, sexual orientation, marital or family status, pregnancy, pregnancy-related conditions, physical or mental disability, gender, perceived gender, gender identity, genetic information, or political ideas.
