Arrive in Lisbon Start your journey by checking into your hotel and by walking down Avenida da Liberdade towards Rossio Square. Continue walking through Rua Augusta to Praça do Comércio and board tram nº28 at Rua da Conceição direction Martim Moniz. Hop-on and off the tram to visit Lisbon Cathedral with a fortress-like facade dating back to the 12th century, the Museu do Teatro Romano (Roman Theatre Museum a small museum presenting the history and some finds from Lisbon's Roman Theater), the Portas do Sol Belvedere and São Jorge Castle a strategically located fortification built in the 11th century, during the Moorish era. Take the tram on the opposite direction and get out at Praça de Camões in the Chiado area. Walk down Rua Garret and visit the Ruins of Carmo Church a reminder of the devastation caused by the earthquake of 1755 housing a small archaeological museum. Take Rua da Trindade and Rua da Misericórdia and continue on Rua São Pedro de Alcântara. Appreciate the view towards the hill of Castelo de São Jorge. Take Glória funicular to go downhill to Restauradores Square and return to hotel.

ITINERARY highlights of Portugal's rich maritime history with a display of ship models, navigational instruments and historic vessels. Cross the main road to visit at the massive Centro Cultural de Belém building the Modern Art Museum housing an impressive collection of works of art by international acclaimed artists. The Monument to the Discoveries is located a short walking distance at the Belém Marina. It is a shaped ship's prow sculpture 52 meters (171ft) high depicting 30 statues of people who played an important role in the Portuguese discoveries. Visit the Museu de Arte Popular, the Handicrafts Museum displaying an interesting collection of traditional objects, utensils, crockery, furniture, costumes, accessories and rugs, as well as a collection of carts from the different provinces of Portugal. Finish the tour of Belém by visiting the Tower of Belém, a small fortress like tower designed in the 16th century Gothic Manueline architecture style. Take train nº15 back to the center of town and get out at Santos stop. Visit the Ancient Art Museum (Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga) housed in a 17th century palace displaying amongst other treasures a large collection of Portuguese paintings from the 14th to the 19th century. Walk up hill in the narrow streets of Graça and pass by some of the former palaces of Portuguese nobility turned into Embassies and visit the Basilica da Estrela church one of the most important churches in Lisbon built in the late 18th century and a masterpiece of the Mafra School of architects. Cross Jardim da Estrela towards Largo do Rato. Take the subway to Saldanha and commute to the Red Line subway towards the airport and get out at Oriente Station. Visit the modern area of Parque das Nações, a reconverted landfill transformed onto one of Lisbon most upcoming neighborhoods and grounds of 1998 World Expo and visit the Oceanarium one of the largest aquariums in Europe. End your journey by boarding the cable card to appreciate an aerial view of the site. Return to hotel.

Located in the heart of the Sintra mountains the largest parkland around Lisbon, this is a town made of various building styles, chapels, palaces, and battlements where one can spend countless hours wandering through the old cobbled streets enjoying the atmosphere and stunning views. Start by visiting the Palácio Nacional de Sintra or City Palace a favorite summer residence of the Portuguese kings. The palace was built in the 14th century and is decorated with beautiful ceramic tiles. Follow by visiting the Pena Palace with its hodgepodge of revival styles, a fascinating structure, with an amalgam of curious looking towers, turrets, onion domes, oriental arches and crenellated walls where the yellow, pink and purple pastel colors complete its fairy-tale character. Another remarkable site is the Regaleira Estate with its 19th century Gothic, Manueline and Renaissance style mansion crowned with turrets and towers and garden filled with mythological and esoteric symbols which highlight is an almost supernatural tunnel staircase symbolizing death and leading into a Garden of Eden. Contrasting with all of these fabulous palaces is the tiny but extraordinary Capuchos Convent with its labyrinth of narrow corridors, chapels, and child-sized cells cut out of rock, all lined with cork. Cascais, a formerly quaint fishing village today is a colorful cosmopolitan town with elegant pedestrian streets, luxuriant villas, fashionable shops, restaurants and bars. Walk the pretty pedestrian streets paved with blocks recreating wave patterns in the center of town and visit the Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, decorated with paintings by the 17th-century artist Josefa de Óbidos before boarding the train at Cascais Railway Station back to Lisbon. Arrive in Lisbon and return to hotel. After diner head towards Alfama the neighborhood which serves of inspiration for Fado songs, and just as popular with Fado Houses. Cross this square and visit the Gulbenkian Foundation Museum housing a display of impressive artifacts from 2000BC to the early 20th century. The foundation is headquartered in a modern complex set in a lush garden. It has a large library, an open air auditorium and two museums: the Gulbenkian Museum and the Modern Art Centre. Take the Blue Line subway all the way to Santa Apolónia and visit the National Pantheon, originally built in the 17th century as a Church and nowadays the last resting place for many of Portugal's most famous citizens, including presidents and artists. Visit Igreja de São Vicente de Fora one of the most important religious buildings in Lisbon built in the early 17th century of Italian Renaissance style featuring on its façade seven niches holding statues of saints, topped off by an elegant balustrade and flanked by two bell towers. The National Tile Museum, Museu Nacional do Azulejo showcases the development of ceramic tiles, in Portugal over the centuries. The magnificent collection is housed in the 15th century Madre de Deus convent another building worth visiting. End this journey by crossing Lisbon to Benfica neighborhood to visit the Fronteira Palace which along with the Tile Museum is the most important place to see great tile displays. Built in 1640, it is still one of the most beautiful buildings in Lisbon, containing splendid rooms with 17th and 18th century decorative tiles, frescoed panels and oil paintings. Return to hotel. In the evening go to the Lisbon Casino located at Parque das Nações and featuring four stylishly-designed bars, three restaurants (including the high-end Suite), and three floors of around 1000 slot machines, and 22 gaming tables.

Breakfast in hotel Start your journey by visiting the town of Mafra and its impressive National Palace which construction started in 1717 in the reign of D. João V. This Baroque Palace when finished was enlarged to include 880 rooms and 330 cells for its monks. It also includes a small hospital, pharmacy, and a prize library. The beautiful town of Óbidos, about 100km (62mi) north of Lisbon is a gorgeous place surrounded by a fortress with a 12th century castle and 45 foot wall around high up on a hill. The Medieval architecture has been beautifully preserved and it looks quaint and romantic with its cobblestoned streets, whitewashed houses, bougainvillea and geraniums in windowsill pots. Whilst visiting the town try the famous Ginjinha liqueur made from infusing sour cherries with “Aguardente” (a Portuguese brandy), sugar and cinnamon. You typically drink it like a shot, with a piece of cherry in the bottom and in Óbidos they drink it from a shot glass made of chocolate. Caldas da Rainha a town founded by a Portuguese queen started as a spa town and today well known for its popular and often humorous ceramics in the shape of cabbage and other vegetables, fruit-like ware and colorful dinner sets, small or big ceramic figures which are supposed to be both erotic and funny due to the religious and humorous work of Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, who portrayed the feelings of the average Portuguese laborer in creating a long-suffering and crosslooking ceramic figure in 1875, known as "Zé Povinho" Alcobaça is another town worth visiting if not for the incredibly old, graceful and light, Monastery easy to spot at the center of town. The cloister gardens house a fabulous collection of capitols and columns but the special treat is the kitchen. Admire the beautiful tombs of Inês and Pedro and read their tragic story.

Visit Nazaré Sanctuary a church built in the 14th century getting its final look in the 17th century and the Santo António Chapel centrally located and facing the beach. At the old town tucked up against honey-colored cliffs at the north end of the beach, board the funicular, and climb to the cliff’s edge, Promontório do Sítio where one can see spectacular views of the town and sea. A variety of splendid buildings ranging from majestic Baroque, Manueline, Revivalist, Mannerist and Art Deco styles, detailed handicraft traditions and charming streets and alleys, makes Viana a town not to be missed. The inside, which has three naves supported by strong Doric columns, is open and welcoming. Also known for its marble, Estremoz is the largest of the ‘marble towns’ of Alentejo, crowned by a Castle which was founded during 1258, which in recent years has been converted to one of the finest Pousadas in Portugal. A marvelous view of the city and the plains that are beyond its limits is visible when you enter the 13th century keep. On the opposite side of the keep you will find the Municipal Museum which houses its own collection of religious art work and local pottery. Down the hill a row of marble façade cafes, churches and a Rural Museum are on full display at the main square, which is a large unpaved marketplace where visitors can find goods that are produced by the locals. Start by visiting the town main square and follow the narrow cobbled streets up the hill until you reach the castle and the keep.
