Health and Safety Briefing
Lighting
Background Lighting at work is important to the health and safety of everyone in the workplace. The quicker and easier it is to see a hazard, the more easily it is avoided. The types of hazard present at work therefore determine the lighting requirements for safe operation.
The law on lighting Laws vary from country to country, but it is generally accepted that people in control of non-domestic premises – and self-employed people – have a duty to ensure that lighting
is safe and does not pose a health risk to colleagues and other people who may use their premises. If you believe your lighting levels do not meet the requirements, then get in touch with your manager.
