Well, wonder no longer. This fall, your Wildcat fam has planned awesome events and activities happening on Friday and Saturday nights. Here’s a glimpse of ways you can get out, have fun, and meet people this fall! **Full event details begin on page 16

CWU Athletics Games All Quarter Tomlinson Stadium’s massive renovation is nearly complete, which means that you’ll witness Saturday Night Lights with our football team! The Rocky Horror Picture Show Oct. 26 This famous cult classic invites you to come up to the lab and see what’s on the slab. Event organizer and Campus Activities programmer Libby Akin will take the lead on this artistic and imaginative production, complete with a shadow cast. If you’re looking for a free interactive show, high quality dancing, and a night full of surprises, plan to attend!
Haunting at Central
Oct. 27 Don’t worry about your Halloween plans this year, we’ve got you covered. A variety of CWU departments will transform the SURC with a massive haunted house, glow in the dark minigolf, and the famous Zombie Zone. Free pizza, treats and activities will be spread around the SURC, and costumes are highly encouraged! We’ll see you there at this year’s scare.
There’s nothing like making yourself at home in a new community than through volunteering. The CWU Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CLCE) organizes events all year for students to help out and make a difference. Engage in a variety of activities, from cleaning up the Yakima River area to playing card games at a seniors casino night with the Ellensburg Adult Activity Center. If you love giving back to the community and making new friends, check in with the CLCE to see where you can serve this fall.
Holiday Happenings on Campus Nov. 29 – Dec. 1 Celebrate the season with Ware Fair, a longstanding three-day juried arts and crafts festival. Join campus and community members as you shop local this holiday season. On Saturday, volunteers host crafts and activities for kids and their families at Holiday Extravaganza. The amount of smiles and cheer on campus this season will surely warm your heart.

This fall will be a season of firsts for many Wildcats. Central Washington University is proud to celebrate Homecoming with a week of special events, from bonfires and talent shows to athletic games and live comedy. Show your Wildcat pride at these fun events! Get into the Homecoming spirit at the beginning of the week with a door decorating contest and Residence Hall Association (RHA) banner competition. On Monday, celebrate the start of a new year at the LatinX Welcome Back event. Central’s Talent Showcase will cap Tuesday evening in the SURC Ballroom, so bring your friends and soak up the Wildcat talent.

On Wednesday, participate in a massive student club fair in SURC 137 and on the East patio. That evening, trek down to the Challenge Course for Wellington’s Wildfire, a bonfire celebration with CWU athletic teams, clubs, organizations, ASCWU student government representatives, and peers. Try your hand at mastering the Challenge Course, or toast s’mores with new friends! Thursday is Homecoming Extravaganza. To keep the celebration going, Recreation and Campus Activities are hosting a free event featuring a movie, food, inflatables, games and more. Activities are all in and around the Recreation Center! Each year, CWU welcomes a celebrated comedian or entertainer to campus, and Friday night’s talent promises to be unforgettable. Cristela Alonzo is a triple threat: She can write, she can act and she can get crowds howling over her original comedy sketches. Alonzo also made TV history by being the first Latina to create, produce and star in a network TV sitcom, “Cristela.” Get your tickets today at cwu.edu/tickets. This weeklong series of events has been leading up to Saturday. Kick off your weekend with Recreation’s bRUNch 5k and eat your way to the finish line. Then, throw on your crimson and black for an evening of athletic events at newlyrenovated Tomlinson Stadium. Show your Wildcat spirit at the pep rally with your #ClawsOut, and cheer on our football team at the 6 p.m. game against Western Oregon University.

PRESIDENT Edith, a first-generation college student hailing from Yakima, partners with a variety of areas across campus as the ASCWU President. VP OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS Claire-Anne and her team are here to represent your academic Interests at CWU. She attends Faculty Senate meetings, and manages the Student Academic Senate. Represent your academic area by becoming a senator!

Kane recruits students for university committees to insure Wildcat representation throughout CWU. He also manages ASCWU’s budget, and sits on the Services & Activities (S&A) committee which allocates funds for student activities outside the classroom.

Leah Mobley VP OF LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS From voting to lobbying, Leah represents CWU students both on campus and at the state capitol. She oversees statewide legislative issues that affect higher education and students on campus. Leah’s team helps plan major events on campus like CWU Votes and College Civics Week.

Surround yourself with tradition and culture at Central Washington University’s annual Day of the Dead celebration! While this Mexican holiday honors loved ones who have passed, all are welcome to experience the festivities. This year, the event will begin in front of a beautiful sand tapestry and altar, created by CWU students and guest artists. Honor the life of your loved one by leaving a photo or memento at the altar during the week or before you head upstairs to the SURC Ballroom.

At the main celebration, immerse yourself in the spirit of Day of the Dead through family-friendly arts and crafts, live music from Mariachi del Centro, and Aztec dance performances. Juanita’s Mexican Catering will offer traditional Mexican fare including tacos and cups of fruit, so bring cash! The Day of the Dead celebration is on a Saturday evening, allowing more community members and families to enjoy the festivities as well. This free, authentic holiday celebration is the largest in Kittitas County, and is one that you’ll never forget.

Face of Winter Warren Miller Entertainment Nov. 15 | SURC Theatre | 7 p.m. Founded by acclaimed filmmaker Warren Miller, WME has annually presented a movie to kick off the snow season. Face of Winter, the 69th installment, will be a special one indeed. For outdoor adventurers here and abroad, these movies have become more than a winter sport tradition. Each film dives into the thrills and extremes of the sports in locations far and wide. After the passing of Warren Miller in January, Face of Winter honors him by traveling to his favorite places. This includes oversea destinations like Chile and Iceland, to more familiar regions like Colorado and Washington. Even if you don’t ski, snowboard, or participate in other winter sports yourself, this movie will surely wow you with the beauty of the outdoors. While Fred Beckey is known as one of the greatest climbers of all time, he’s also kind of a rebel. With a stubborn and tenacious personality, Beckey spent his entire life on the road and in the mountains. Charting unexplored territory on some of the most challenging hikes and climbs, he paved the way for today’s adventurers. From the 1930’s until he passed away October of 2017, Beckey lived a nomadic lifestyle through his outdoor pursuits.
