’ S N E D R A G T U O B A D L I W O G ‘ National Gardening Week 14-20 April What better place to ‘grow’ special family memories than in a garden? Think about it, gardening with your children at home or at a community garden not only provides the benefits of exercise and fresh food, it also fosters communication and builds stronger relationships. Everywhere you look you can see the signs of spring, so why not get started? Especially since it’s National Gardening Week, 14th - 20th April. Do something fun with the family! Whether you’re a nurturing newbie or greenfingered expert, get outdoors and enjoy green spaces together. National Gardening Week was launched by the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) three years ago and has since grown into the country’s biggest celebration of gardening. This year, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of RHS ‘Britain in Bloom’, they’ve dedicated the week to communities. You could even run your own National Gardening Week event, no matter how big or small, register it online at www. nationalgardeningweek.org.uk. Ever fancied throwing a garden party? Do you love your neighbourhood park or think your local street could do with a tidy up? There you go! A great way for you to get involved. Encourage your family, friends and neighbours to have a go too.

But what did the Primary Times team think of it? Here ’s our verdict… Things aren’t looking good for poor Zoe, the story’s main character. Her life is plagued by loneliness, plus her wicked stepmother Sheila and the local bully Tina Trotts love to make her life a misery. Life in their crumbling old tower block is bleak until her furry little friend Armitage comes along. This book is filled with hilarious char acters and we had lots of fun coming up with voices for them all! Walliams cleverly weaves some utterly gross moments with riotous wit and warmth. Then of course, we’re introduced to the villainous ‘Burger Van-Man’ Bert, who has his evil-eye on Zoe’s beloved pet rat! Or does he? The plot of the book is compelling and clever. Older children won’t want to put it down and younger children will be begging for “just one more chapter” before bedtime. The illustrations by Tony Ross also add a sprinkle of humour to this incre dibly enjoyable novel.

Why not download ‘Ratburger’ on audiobook (narrated by David Walliams himself!) from: ww w.audible.co.uk and let us know what you think.
